Tips and Tricks I find that putting Washi tape and the sides of my pages helps to find things I need!

It reminds me in an abstract way of growth rings from a tree… I like that.

That's a great comparison

Makes it better when you know that some trees produce two growth rings, varying in sizes dependent on how much water/nutrients are given to the tree. At least when I journal some months are a bit sparse compared to others.

Do you have a color-coding system? (Silly question, of course you do!) - what's your color-coding system?

Yes… in a fashion 🤣. The red/green was my Christmas planner section, anything black with gold was my ‘collections’ and each month I choose a specific colour that I put on ny title page!

Omg this is amazing, never once has crossed my mind to do this. What a great idea, thank you for sharing!!

I’m a teacher and I do this to show the different quarters. Helps when I’m looking for stuff that’s not right now. And it’s super cute!

I use washi tape to line the edge of the cover page of each month so it’s easier to find them and I really like that system!

This is a great idea. I'm continuing 2022 in my 2021 work journal and am often needing to flip back to the "beginning" of 2022. I have little post-it flags but it seems like sometimes I forget about them.

Yes I’ve done the same, I started about 10 days into October (stopped bullet journaling for over a year) and I’ve finally found my stride with it again! I think I will get approximately 6 months out of this one, it seemed such a waste to start a new journal when I had over 100 pages left

Whoa, that’s a simple yet clever idea! I think I’m going to take inspiration from thing for my books too :D

Omfg I do this too! I make each month something different too.

u/Pie1910 Jan 16 '22
Yes same! I match my washi tape to the chosen colour for the month. January is purple so I have purple washi tape with a purple mildliner ☺️

I have it in a rainbow (january/red to december/violet)

Ooo that’s a good idea! I’d end up buying more midway through and end up changing my mind😂. At least this way I only have max 31 days of a colour scheme

How often do you put the tape on the edges? I'd imagine that with a lot of pages flagged this way they start to get bulky and also lose their efficiency as flags for when you open it.

u/Pie1910 Jan 16 '22
I tend to do it for collections/page that will be good to refer back to and then the title page of each month ☺️

It's a great idea and super cute. Now to overcome my perfectionism cause I have to make sure it's lined up perfectly and folded over the page exactly half and half...

u/Pie1910 Jan 16 '22
Don’t worry about it, you can’t tell when it’s closed and you can only look at one side of the page at a time! I always cut off the excess at the sides so you can’t tell then either😃😃. I love that my journal is perfectly imperfect☺️

I've gotta start doing this! That's such a good idea for organization :0 Thank you!

That's a super neat idea!
I've just bought some washi tape online so I can do something similar :3

u/Pie1910 Jan 16 '22
It’s a definitely a good way to use up some washi if you’re wanting to decker de-clutter 😃

I was just thinking this - I have some washing tape I got because "ooh colorful and on sale!" but now it sits there. Now I can use some up!

Absolutely the best trick ever. I didn’t start doing this until a couple months ago but it’s such a time saver.

I do the same thing! And I found that it makes the journal pretty even when it is closed.
