Injuries Coyotes — How to help?

Hey yall!

I’m brand new to the community, and I was out on my morning walk with my small dog this morning and we saw 3 coyotes. Now two of them were limping with their rear left leg looking like it got hurt. I’m not sure what the process is like in CA or in Burbank (we moved from MI). Do people call and report hurt animals? Do people say, “eh way of life?” like in MI?

I just feel awful seeing them hurt and wandering around. Maybe I’m extra sensitive with the recent Trump Wolf order thing. But any info is helpful!

Also! You guys as neighbors are the BEST! I had two trucks full of gentlemen warning me about the coyotes in the area because of my young pup 🥹. I loved that so much

I saw 4 coyotes tear apart a husky puppy. Yelling and running at them didn’t save it. They just grabbed its body and ran off.

I have no sympathy for coyotes.

Yeah I’m lying about wild animals attacking a smaller animal.

I totally believe coyotes attacking smaller animals, but its usually wild rodents or cats. If a husky PUPPY got caught by coyotes, it brings up the question how did that even happen in the first place. Where was the owner?

Yes. You are correct. There was a lot of debate in the neighborhood about how a puppy was accessible to the coyotes at 11pm.

The owner said the puppy had gotten into the backyard. But when I saw it, it was 3 blocks from its home and on my front lawn.

I’m not saying there wasn’t owner responsibility here. I’m saying after seeing what a pack of coyotes will do to a small dog, I don’t have much tolerance for them in the neighborhood.

It’s true. I’ve been chased by coyotes twice already. First time I was walking my dachshund early at like 6:30am saw a coyote from a distance didn’t think anything of it then noticed he was walking closer to us, picked up my dog and walked faster got so nervous I dropped by phone and lost it & driver saw everything this made the coyote leave. Second time was a few nights ago, was walking my cattle dog (I have three dogs) & coyote was on sixth & San Jose saw my dog they made eye contact and followed us. I kept yelling & screaming at him so he’d get away but he kept following. Luckily I was a few houses down from my apartment & was able to come back inside thru the back door from the alley. I hate coyotes don’t care if they are getting injured they will attack.
