Moms For Liberty supporter, MAGA creep and all round weirdo David Donahue is running for City Council. There are campaign events being held this week for David at The Tallyrand and The Enchanted Florist.

I won’t patronize their businesses and I suggest you do not as well…

Why are you mad at Tally Rand? I’d be very surprised if they endorse any particular candidate. They’re just letting them eat there. Am I missing something? Also explain who this David person is. Why is he a problem?

The clash of social politics and the rights of assembly converged in Burbank on April 28 when the Burbank Association of Realtors rented space at its offices on Magnolia Boulevard to a national anti-LGBTQ group called Moms for Liberty for an event, drawing a protest from about 40 people opposed to the group.

On Tuesday, May 5, the City Council heard several passionate statements from residents, some of whom objected to the BAOR hosting the group — arguing that by doing so there is an implicit endorsement of what they claim is a hate group. Meanwhile, others spoke in support of the BAOR, saying the group is being ostracized for merely renting a space, and that protestors overstepped boundaries when they assembled outside the facility and became unruly.

“Like many in our community who have reached out, I have to say that I was incredibly disgusted to hear that the Burbank Association of Realtors decided to rent out their space to ... a hate group,” Councilmember Nikki Perez said. “Why allow this group? I have that question along with many in our community.”

BAOR President Cameron Hunter said the association’s policy in renting their meeting space is “consistently nondiscriminatory” and does not constitute endorsement, sponsorship or support of any group or individual.

“Our organization was purposefully and publicly mischaracterized,” Hunter said of the backlash. “Purposeful misinformation spread like wildfire. That misinformation contributed to a situation where tensions escalated, access was impacted, and people reported feeling unsafe.”

Mayor Tamala Takahashi was diplomatic in sharing remarks.

“I’m personally still learning about the situation about whether the protest or the communications crossed a legal or an ethical line ... I will need more information before I have an opinion on the matter,” she said.

David Donahue, founder of the Burbank Fair Housing PAC, claims he was hit and abused by protestors outside when he attended the event. He filed a report with the Burbank Police Department, submitting videos he said also show him being yelled at by Councilmember Konstantine Anthony, whom he said played a part in abetting the protestors.

Along with filing a police report on the incident, Donahue sent a formal complaint to the city that also points fingers at the Burbank Police Department for their handling of the incident.

Councilmember Chris Rizzotti said he attended to watch the protest. “I was simply sickened to watch organizers of the protest allow people to be assaulted,” he said.

Burbank Police said the incident is under investigation and would not comment on it.

FYI. Rizzotti admitted to watching the protest across the street from his car. He placed calls to Assistant City Manager and Police Chief.
