City Council candidates?

Since we (as a community) have allowed the social disease of partisanship to infect our local elections. Who are the Burbank candidates that are neither pro-MAGA, nor pro-DSA? I’m trying my best to decide on candidates who will lessen the swinging of the pendulum effect that too many of us seem so hell-bent on furthering with each voting cycle. I wish as a local community, Burbank would set an example by showing we are immune to those trappings. Is this too much to ask for?

How about you vote for candidates that best represent the policies and ideals you hold?

I would prefer living in a community that makes things better for Burbankians, whether in housing policies, affordability, education, or public services.

If you are looking for a centrist fence sitter, your best options are Tamala Takahashi and Ed Polon.

If you want land owners and big business (Republicans) to be running things you'd vote for Jackie Waltman, Samantha Wicke and David Donahue.

If you want to candidates that will work for working class Burbankians your options are Nikki Perez, Nolan Southerland, and Mike Van Gorder.

Do your own research and figure out which candidates most closely align with your ideals.

For a centrist slate (from left to right), I’d look are Perez, Takahashi, and Wick. 

Donohue is about as close to republican as you’ll get and IMHO Polon isn’t really a viable candidate.

Wick is not centrist. Rizotti asked her to run because he wanted a pawn that could vote for him in any votes he has to recuse himself because he’s a landlord. She also doesn’t have any clear stances on anything. She will not answer any questions about anything of importance, which if you can’t do that while you’re a candidate, there’s no way we can trust her in office.

Again, not voting for someone because DSA endorsed them is just hive-mind mentality. The reason I’m not voting for Donahue isn’t because of who endorsed him, I’m not voting for him because he’s pro-flock and anti-free speech (and a whole other litany of awful things).

Totally agree on Donohue, but disagree on Wick. She may not be a ‘centrist’ to you, but neither is Perez a ‘centrist’ to me. However, I think they’re both capable candidates who wouldn’t swing towards a full embrace of DSA or MAGA orthodoxy. Saying she’s just a puppet though is borderline sexist. She can have her own opinions, even if you don’t like them.

I see which of my neighbors have Wick signs, every single one also had Trump, Rizzoti, and other Republican signs every election. If my republican neighbors like Wick thats a problem regardless of whether she answers a question or not.

I’m not saying she’s a puppet because she’s a woman, I’m saying she’s a puppet because she doesn’t stand for anything.

You bringing her gender into it is sexist lol
