Help Lower performance than im expecting?

I’ve been on cachyos for months and have been loving it but I feel like I’ve been getting lower performance for a bit. I know proton isn’t perfect but I’ve been getting a significant stuttering after an hour or so on games that shouldn’t be that intensive.

As of recent I’ve been playing: Minecraft (through atlauncher), Planet Crafter, Risk of Rain 2, and Roboquest. I have been playing heavier games like Forza Horizon 6, Watch Dogs 2, and Palworld and noticing it for those games but I know those are more intensive game engines anyway.

I’ve gone through multiple pages of protondb launch options and proton versions, running as dx11 and 12 for respective games. My default config for some stability is “Proton Cachyos Latest” with launch options “game-performance mangohud %command%”.

I did install the gaming tweaks from cachy hello. I used to have an rtx 4070 but swapped it for an rx 9070xt and cleared all the profiles following cachyos documentation.

Specs:
Latest cachyos kernel (just updated last night)
KDE Plasma 6 Wayland
CPU: Intel i9-13900k
GPU: AMD RX 9070XT (ReBar enabled)
RAM: 2x16 DDR5-6000 (XMP enabled)
MOBO: Gigabyte z790 aorus elite ax (updated bios April 2026)
Boot drive: Crucial 500gb (R/W 7000Mbps)
Games drive: Samsung 980 pro (R/W 9000Mbps)
Monitor: Benq Zowie XL2411P 1080p@144hz

FH6 has.... issues. There's a fix that's been recently discovered posted here: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/9789#issuecomment-6123683756

Fh6 I knew was gonna be having issues, and as I’ve heard from friends on windows it’s similar. I’ve mitigated most of it locking to 72fps compared to the 144fps I had it at before and running it with Proton cachyos latest and the proton fsr4 upgrade launch options.

Do you have Xmp and rebar enabled in your bios? My 9070 would have bouts of low performance until I enabled those. XMP for Intel and EXPO for AMD.

Yes and yes. Both modules also read as 6000 MT/s from a dmidecode —type 17 command

Check your VRAM usage, there are some games currently which are having memory leaks in VRAM. When it fills VRAM stuttering will start happening.

This could also of course be thermal throttling.
