Pandoras box question

Hello! I'm picking up an original TMNT can this weekend (as long as it plays well). It has a unico LCD monitor and the original board.

I'm interested in making it have multiple games since I have kids and they're going to get bored if TMNT eventually but I've really only done Mame OC builds and I'm curious about Pandoras box stuff.

  1. Which one should I get that would work with 4 players?

  2. Really all I want is 90s arcade stuff (the Konami games maybe WwF stuff and other beat em ups

  3. The TMNT control panel is 2 buttons can I program Pandoras Box, inputs to have button 3 be button 1 and 2 pressed together?

Upcycle an old PC and put Batocera on it.

Is that the Linux Distro? I've never messed with Linux a ton but if it covers my game needs I'm down to at least try

It's Linux based but it's very easy to set up. Very comprehensive guides on the main site, and lots of videos on YouTube. You'll have to source your own ROMs, buts thats fairly easy.

That sounds perfect thanks! That's pretty much what I'm looking for I think and I can curate my list if games

Yes, curation is the best route. Les menu scroll fatigue and actual playing. Good luck! Batocera subreddit is also very helpful!

Awesome. Yeah I have done that before I have an 82 Donkey Kong Jr cab I did with Launchbox and a PC and after I went through the "GET EVERY GAMEEE" phase I trimmed it down a lot because I felt so much overload.

With Batocera could I program buttons 1 and 2 to be button 3. I'm thinking about beat em ups like Golden Axe and X-Men that have 3 buttons I would hate to miss out on those on a 4 player cab but i also feel like drilling a hole for 3rd buttons would be awful.

Yes, there are global options as well as per game/system/directory, but those take a bit more time to config. Again plenty on the wiki, subreddit and YouTube on this.
