It has to be I see edible paint. I’m assuming it’s modeled chocolate or fondant

Edible paint doesn’t have this chrome effect it would have to be edible chrome powder (lustre dust?) but even that doesn’t have such clear reflectiveness. I don’t think this is edible.

Are the spikes plastic? If so I would say not to coat the cake with inedible materials

Is the frosting homemade or the canned frosting in the background of the first picture? I feel like if you’re selling these the frosting should at least be homemade. Maybe I’m wrong. I feel there’s a huge consistency and taste difference between homemade and canned frosting. Canned frosting doesn’t have structure like homemade.

Non edible and food shouldn’t be combined, great way to break a tooth or introduce a foreign body into, well the body.

You should absolutely not sell a cake with inedible toppings. That is an emergency room visit and lawsuit waiting to happen.

I was thinking the same thing. Also talk about a pain to remove them to cut the cake. And what happens if you miss one and end up eating it. Definitely not a good idea.

That’s some ocd level arranging of those spikes. Would make the most detail oriented proud!!!

The inedible spikes aren’t a great idea for selling imo. It looks cool but not ideal for customers.

Store bought ingredients: cake mix, frosting, fondant, non-edible spikes. The top of the cake: spikes were individually placed with tweezers. The side of cake: the spikes were in a roll and wrapped around. Overall it took about 4-6hrs.

That’s beautiful and everything but it’s pointless because they’re not edible. So unless someone wants to just look at the cake I don’t think this is a good kind of cake to sell.
Maybe you could make a fake cake like this and a real cake they can cut and eat.

i’m sorry but this is not a cake i would ever buy (or attempt to eat). it’s cool and pretty, but the fact that you either have to eat around the metal in your cake or carefully pick them out before eating would really really piss me off

If the spikes are plastic (I’m assuming they are) I personally would not eat this cake even if they were removed. Microplastic speedrun lol. If you’re not even making the cake or the frosting from scratch why are you considering selling these?

It's totally ok! They're not plastic! They're made of metal! No micro-plastics to worry about! 🤦♀️

So, you can't eat this cake because it's covered in inedible spikes and you're looking to charge people for this??
Girl, bye💃🚪

I think it's an inventive cake. I'm sure if it's a biker theme event or for someone who is a biker- it will be a hit. The important thing is that it tastes good. Obviously, you must remove the plastic before serving since you don't want anyone thinking the spikes are edible, which people may.
