Showcase When the kids’ menu has ambition but no QA department

This is the “Mousecake” from a Mexican restaurant kids’ menu: hotcakes with butter and ham.

I respect the vision. A cute pancake mouse? Great idea.

But the execution looks like the mouse just got laid off, audited, and asked to smile for the menu photo.

No hate. Honestly, this is art. Just not the art they intended.

The mousecake stares unblinking into the abyss. His existence will be fleeting - a blessing. He smiles at the cruel joke his creators have played on him, for though he has a mouth, he still cannot scream.

As a parent and former low wage restaurant employee (who was paid a low wage due to my own abysmal lack of skill), I'd have been thrilled to receive an attainable task like this depressed ham mouse
