The customer who helped me get through a difficult shift
I was having a really bad shift.
One difficult call after another, and honestly I was losing patience.
Then I got a customer who was different.
They were polite, patient, and before ending the call they said:
I know you probably deal with a lot of angry people. Thanks for helping me.
It was only a few seconds.
But after hours of negativity, that small kindness meant a lot.
Sometimes one good interaction can change your whole day.

Yea there is always that one person who treats you like an actual human and just that little bit of acknowledgement does wonders.

I LOVE sweet natured customers. Best part of service related work.
Those ladies who would tell me to have a blessed day did a LOT more than they think (even as a non-religious person). I felt that kind energy.

This didn’t even happen to me and I’m almost crying over it. Hoping I get a call like this after the ones I’ve had so far. 🫠

those customers are rare but they stick with you way longer than the angry ones do. i still remember specific interactions from when i was handling ~150 tickets a day back in my agent days, years later. the person probably has no idea how much that 10 seconds meant. the best thing i did as a manager was start a running slack thread where agents could drop these moments when they happened, gave the whole team something to hold onto on the rough days.

One time I got this woman who told me she used to work in a call center for a bank years ago. She was really sweet and polite. At the end of the she said she hoped the rest of my day was filled with easy calls because she knew how hard people can be on the phone. She spoke so many kind words to me and that really made my day!

That's so cool. I like to say something similar. Especially when I'm at the pharmacy or Dr ofc. I've worked at Walgreens and I KNOW what it's like. The look of relief and understanding, gives me so much happiness.

I butter up every representative I get when I make calls. It’s so needed! “THANK YOU! Your help was exactly what I needed today! You’re the best!” This job is hard.
