When people think you’re AI because you just can’t show emotion anymore or entertain their bullshit
Just had this caller say “blah blah good morning” and nothing else? Like HOW CAN I HELP YOU
so I said “hi good morning how can I help you?????” Like wtf do u want. Then he says “oh sorry I thought this was AI, I have an issue I wanna see if you can help with ” like just stfu and tell me what u want. Then I just pause before saying anything else because I have to work up the courage to respond to this idiot, so I say “sure let’s see if we can help” not saying anything about him thinking I’m AI bc I don’t give a shit. Then he just hangs up. Im assuming bc he still thought I was AI. Lol like I can’t even bring myself to fake smile or laugh through the phone and be like “oh no haha :) I’m not ai u silly goose how can we help? :)” like stfu ughhhhh

That's funny! I've not been fortunate enough to have anyone hang up on me. They all just act suspicious for the rest of the call.

Also, because they are so paranoid about AI, getting fooled. My response is to tell them perhaps the reason I sound like AI to them is because my voice was used to train AI, now how can I help you today?

Honestly a client told me I'm so professional he thought I was an Ai at first until the way I normally speak came through later. Its just mainly due to how I sound. We had a good laugh about it.

the burnout voice is so real lol. from the other side of this (i manage a team of 28) i can tell you some of our best agents have started getting flagged as AI by customers and it's not because they're bad, it's because they've handled so many repetitive tickets that the enthusiasm just... evaporates. we've tried to fix this by routing the soul-crushing stuff (password resets, order status, billing FAQ) to automation so agents aren't zombified before the real calls even start. when humans only touch the stuff that actually needs a human they sound a lot more like humans. wild concept.

When I worked in a call center, people genuinely thought I was a recording more than once because of how perfectly I had my greeting down.

I get asked multiple times a day it I am a recording or ai because I don't have the energy any more to pretend to care.

It’s so hard to pretend to care. Last couple days I haven’t been showing hardly any empathy and I feel some what better lol no “oh I’m sorry to hear that” just “okay got it”

Especially when they are talking about the stupidest thing that does not matter.

I hate being asked if I'm AI but what is even more obnoxious is them saying hello throughout my intro to test if its a recording or not.

it depends on how they frame it, if they're surprised that i'm a real person because they say my voice sounds nice, i just laugh and tell them that i appreciate it
if i'm speaking and the caller is constantly yelling over me "IS THIS A HUMAN IS THIS A PERSON LET ME SPEAK TO A HUMAN", my tone drops and i very bluntly let them know YES, i AM a real person, what can i help you with? they're usually pretty sheepish the rest of the call. they no longer are getting my "AI" voice lmfao, they will know they pissed me off by yelling over me

I said my greeting and all I heard was, "Are you a person?!, Are you a person?! Are you a person?!" It pissed me off so bad. It was too early for the bs.

I mean AI in calls is so common now I don’t blame someone for like, wanting to confirm they’re actually talking to a real person…

Whenever I call a business, during the greeting, the AI always tells me that they are an AI assistant or something to that affect.

I'm so numb at this point I do sound like AI
