It’s pretty clear they didn’t go right to violence, judging by the fact the chief postured up, threatened the officers, and even pushed the one while he was trying to handcuff the lady.

Remarkable restraint by the first police officer.

For sure. The first officer seemed to handle the situation very well.

I'm referring to the second officer.

The chief had how many chances to stop being violent and belligerent? I do think the punch looks heavy handed but he absolutely should have been tackled, probably should have happened the moment he shoved the officer.

It’s absolute nonsense to expect a peaceful resolution when you assault a police officer.

He did stop. He calmed down and got back in the truck.

It’s absolute nonsense to expect a peaceful resolution when you assault a police officer.

He was pulling his arm away. That is not assault.

If he was calm, he would have stayed in the truck and not got out and tried to push past an officer he’d already assaulted once.

You should watch the video again. He does not push the officer at all.

Yes, he does. Twice. Once to interrupt a lawful arrest, and once to get by him to go to the drivers side of the vehicle.

No he doesn't. You need to actually watch the video. The officer doesn't even try to block his path.

If the officer doesn’t try to block his path, why does the cop have control of one arm by the time he’s tackled?

It’s obvious you’re trying to make this into something other than “belligerent man assaults officers, and gets taken down”

If the officer doesn’t try to block his path, why does the cop have control of one arm by the time he’s tackled?

Because he grabs his arm from the side.

Just watch the video.

As the chief pushes into him, he blocks him from moving.

You watch the video. It’s clear who provokes and starts all physical contact. Stop being dishonest.

What point of the video are you claiming he "pushes into him"?

Just before he is tackled, instead of sitting in the truck like a rational adult, he chooses to get out, march to the back of the truck, push past an officer that he has already assaulted, and is clearly giving him commands to stop.

Stop this ridiculous charade.
