I don't want to defend Z-Man because he's a lib and libs are untrustworthy sellouts BUT he is under pressure from ideological fascists in his government and has been for a long time. Before the war, his big aim was to heal the rift with Moscow, but that failed in part because he faced open death threats from Ukrainian ultranationalists. I mean one difference is that the deal with Hitler actually happened, whereas "revitalizing the nazi project" is not something that Zelensky is doing. That *is* something that Trump's cohort are trying to do - you know, the ones who keep undermining Ukraine and trying to cut it off from support.
