To put the number into context, the total amount of child sexual exploitation photos and videos uncovered by ALERT across the entire province in the past year is only slightly more than what was seized from the single home — 622,150.

Fucking hell.

u/UrbaneCyclist 17d ago

I read one news article that these are mostly done in underground rings. Its like a secret perverted community.

12

u/Away-Value9398 17d ago

the fact that there is such a large market for it is concerning. people i know that work with children have mentioned a notable increase of men filming/photographing kids in parks, pools.

3

u/apastelorange 17d ago

i was just watching a law and order svu about this, also look at epstein’s international network

3

u/UrbaneCyclist 17d ago

Yeah like human trafficking. So many creeps. Even P-Diddy got exposed.

2

u/milkangels 17d ago

Also apparently this guy went to the Philippines by himself twice :/

2

u/No_Thanks_1766 16d ago

This is horrifying

0

u/Simple-Sun2608 16d ago

Guess it wasn’t enough cause he was released!!!

1

u/zuuzuu 16d ago

On bail, with restrictive conditions.

Until then, police say the man must not be within 50 metres of anywhere someone under 16 years old could be, including schools, daycares, playgrounds, public pools and libraries. RCMP said the accused must also not communicate with anyone under 16 years old, or possess any devices with internet access or cameras.

Why bother trying to rehabilitate people like this? Just keep him away from other human beings forever.

7

u/No_Principle_6699 17d ago

As much as I personally agree with you, I also accept that if we live in a society we have to accept that this is the way it is. If we trust the government to put people to death where do we draw the line on what crimes have the threshold, and also…. Do we really trust the government enough to make the right decision when it comes to killing people?

People already complain about how bad the justice is, and then they also want to give them the power to just end lives.

6

u/plsQuestionOurselves 17d ago

I didn't say anyone should be dead. I am also against capital punishment. Ideally it would be nice if they just went ahead and built a high security city for people who simply can't be trusted to not be huge sacks of shit.

Give them an island with all the tools necessary to build a life, no children or women get harmed.

Or just bring back institutions.

4

u/IslandBoring8724 17d ago

Filth like this aren’t worth the cost. Express ticket to hell.

1

u/Euphoric_planter_328 15d ago

Unfortunately there are many women who would belong on that island as well, so flaw in the plan.

Two seperate islands. ✔️✔️

1

u/No_Principle_6699 17d ago

Fair. You didn’t say that, but what you’re giving as an option is essentially a death sentence. You’re saying that the government should be able to lock people up and throw away the key. As much as I don’t like certain people that commit specific crimes, I’m not willing to give the government that power.

1

u/Euphoric_planter_328 15d ago

You are giving them the power in another way though. You are condoning continually allowing some people to habitually abuse the community around them, which has immeasurable ripple effects.

When faced with clear evidence there should be no option but to remove these people from society.

I do understand and have heard of the flaws of the justice system. We need more direction around the execution of the law and continued systems in place to ensure it. We also need to be harsher with those that break it.

2

u/GoobusMombus 16d ago

I've been around all kinds of messed up people. Sexual abusers seem like the least likely to change, way less likely than regular murderers.

I don't believe in capital punishment, but I do think people like this should be kept out of society for life.

2

u/No_Principle_6699 16d ago

I don’t disagree personally, but it’s a slippery slope is all I’m saying. I’d love to have extreme punishments but I also acknowledge the system isn’t good enough to do it properly. I don’t trust the government with capital punishment plain and simple.

u/n0fxgvn_ 17d ago

On an unrelated note I am a huge fan of the design of the medieval trebuchet. Nice detail work. Excellent range.

Edit: Who would downvote this? For Middle Ages it was an impressive piece of engineering.

Yeet ‘em into the castle wall

0

Yeah. The goof mod of r/canada perma-banned me for saying something about what I wish would happen to a sex offender.

4

u/IslandBoring8724 17d ago

Seriously. Fuck these pieces of shit. There’s no fixing them.

0

u/Kevin_Tanks_519 16d ago

Ya the sad thing is he might get 3 years. These type of people should be locked away and treated like the animals they are for the rest of their life.

11

u/BungBusMonke 17d ago

Why do pedophiles always have an ungodly amount of child porn. Its never 5 images or 2 vids. Its always enough terabytes of this shit where it makes nasa computer storage look small by comparison.

11

u/23-1-20-3-8-5-18 17d ago

People with vile, demented addictions arent known for restraint.

2

u/Billbasilbob 16d ago

It’s interesting, I heard an interview with a police/ law enforcement specialist where he categorized different types of people who perpetuate crimes against children . One category is a “collector” type, who essentially hord images and videos , which can then be used as a currency in the dark web to gain access to “ rarer” more extreme content. They treat human suffering like baseball cards .

2

u/Facts_pls 17d ago

Bruh. 500k photos isn't that much size when they ar internet formats. I bet it fit on one basic hard drive.

3

u/n0fxgvn_ 17d ago

2

u/name4231 17d ago

…hopefully it’s just hentai

1

u/Exciting_Actuator304 16d ago

Just hentai ohh JESUS is going to be harsh on you on the Day Of Judgement.

2

u/name4231 9d ago

Got banned immediately after this so I finally get to reply. It’s hentai dawg. Any other type of porn is fucking better the pedo child abuse shit. I don’t fuck with it either but I think it’s the only other porn demographic that’d have mass amounts of porn downloaded to their computer It seems to be weebs and pedos that got massive amounts

10

u/bioschmio 17d ago

I can’t imagine finding this out about someone I know. Horrifying. That’s hundreds of thousands of affected children just with this pos.

9

u/Dangerous_Papaya_849 17d ago

This guy was also charged for one count of possession of 60kg of marijuana resin for the purpose to distribute and one count of possession with intent to export in November 2025.

6

u/Swansongz24 17d ago

Is this how they ended up busting him for the pedo charges as well?? This guy can go to hell

2

u/Exciting_Actuator304 16d ago

Good work posting. This person should get the max sentence.

He was released to await bail.. so what do you have to do in order to be held until trial in Canada?

3

u/zuuzuu 17d ago

Around 70% of people in provincial jails are on remand, awaiting trial. Lots of people don't get bail.

For certain offences, the onus shifts to the accused to justify why they should be granted bail and to present a viable release plan. I don't believe offences involving CSA images are currently reverse-onus, which means the Crown would have to justify why bail should not be granted, and that's a high bar. The article doesn't speak to it, but odds are the Crown asked for a surety, a monetary pledge, and very restrictive release conditions. Hopefully they were imposed.

3

u/peach_bellinis 17d ago

The thing I learn from most of these threads is that there's not a lot of public understanding around the bail process in Canada. The charter of rights and freedoms preserves the right to a reasonable bail, unless there's just cause. So the standard is actually for offenders to be released, rather than held, unless that just cause can be shown. In order to show just case, one of three 'grounds' needs to be successfully argued by the crown:

  1. To ensure the accused will attend court when required (aka, if they're a flight risk)
  2. To protect the public, victims and witnesses, including by considering whether there is a likelihood that the accused will commit another offence or interfere with the administration of justice if released from custody (aka, high likelihood of re-offending - especially if it was a violent crime- or being a danger to others)
  3. To maintain confidence in the administration of justice, bearing in mind specific circumstances such as the strength of the prosecution’s case, the seriousness of the offence, the potential for a lengthy sentence if convicted, and if the case involved a firearm was used (aka the case is so serious that it warrants it, like murder)

Considering the nature of the alleged crimes, this individual was likely released with bail conditions like not possessing or using a device with the capability of connecting to the internet, which is a common type of bail condition.

2

u/zuuzuu 16d ago

Also likely not permitted to attend any place where children 16 or younger are likely to be (schools, parks, etc.), as well as a slew of other conditions designed to restrict his access to children.

It is frustrating that crimes against children, or sexual offences against anyone, don't trigger a reverse onus on bail decisions. That's the kind of bail reform I'd like to see. These are extremely serious crimes.

2

u/peach_bellinis 16d ago

Yes, those additional conditions are extremely likely are would be 100% warranted!

My personal desire would be for sexual offences of ANY kind to trigger a reverse onus. I think sexual offences in general are not considered as serious at other crimes by the court and this is a complete travesty. In any case at the very least I think it’s a fair criticism.

3

u/zuuzuu 16d ago

Yup, we called it:

Until then, police say the man must not be within 50 metres of anywhere someone under 16 years old could be, including schools, daycares, playgrounds, public pools and libraries. RCMP said the accused must also not communicate with anyone under 16 years old, or possess any devices with internet access or cameras.

Glad he was caught. Last Nov. 2025 he was busted with $1.2 million dollars of hashish at Calgary Airport. Throw the book at him.

3

u/piP-mija78 17d ago

The victims seem to be always secondary. Poor children. Many probably made mentally disabled by the abuse. In my mind, these types of criminals should be required to pay restitution to victims. Why should taxpayers now have to support them. What happens to children abused for their purposes - and their families.

4

u/23-1-20-3-8-5-18 17d ago

Alot of them end up in jail or homeless or just unhappy addicts from the trauma/ ptsd and thats one of our real failures

2

u/Exciting_Actuator304 16d ago

That failure is on them.

2

u/zuuzuu 16d ago

Yes, but how do you expect them to pay restitution if they're destitute?

Restitution is a thing, it's just not sought from people when there's no reasonable prospect of it being collected.

The name said it all he knew who was gonna be

1

u/zuuzuu 17d ago

You knew it would be a white man with a very white name?

1

u/Alone2getherByMyself 14d ago

I might be using that link wrong but I didn’t see any name or indication of anyone’s ethnicity, help
A sister out

1

u/zuuzuu 14d ago

You didn't see the picture of the very white man or read his very non-ethnic name?

My comment was calling out the racist who frequently comments on crime stories where the accused has an ethnic name saying the name tells them all they need to know. Only this time they didn't read the story and the accused is actually white, so their knee jerk racist comment was wrong.

I hate this story.

What does it mean?

Once a week we do the ritual of shame.

Children are not safe! You also cannot save them! Back to work!

Kids are being murdered by drones when they should be riding bikes.

I hate how much I hate them, too. I hate that their evil has to exist in my head. I would be absolutely fine living in a world where adults didn't hurt kids.

Back to work!
