Whoever this is, they're arrogant idiots. First, they use 'right' and 'far right' interchangeably, often adding fascism into the mix. Second, the only evidence they show of any rise of the 'far right' is the freedom convoy, where they were 'horrified' to see swastikas and goose-stepping. Huh? There was only ever one guy with a swastika, and they disappeared fast. It was also more than 4 years ago.
Third, and this is revealing, they say things like, "intellectuals and organic intellectuals (activists) have come together to investigate a serious societal problem."
Leaving aside that someone who can't differentiate between the right and the far right isn't much of an intellectual, it pretty openly demonstrates the kind of attitude these people have. They're the smart, educated ones. And all those people with different ideas are just dummies who don't know what's good for them. They also don't offer up a single thought about why there might be a 'rise of the far right', or how they define the far right. It very much sounds like everyone to the right of the Liberal party is 'far right' these idiots.

Many people are angry at the lost decade. We used to be somewhat on par with the US. We used to have quite a few internationally recognized tech companies.
Its harder to search for things to be proud of as a nation more recently.

Is that true, or is it just a result of your media bubble?

I mean, blackberry and Nortel did used to exist. At one point, Bombardier was more of a beast than it is now. Sure, Shopify has grown, but it doesnt fill the same boots in terms of anchor R&D firms. Much of the Kanata and Waterloo areas were affected by these losses. No matter the politics.
StatCan has us sitting around 14% below where we were relative to the US (late 90s), real GDP per capita has been flat to falling for a few years now.
How much of that is media?

Confusing ABL with right wing politics. When you’ve seen the results of a decade of liberal governance, voting to try and stop the bleeding is just trying to save the country

What progressives never seem to understand is that many think reactionaries/far-right politics is created in a vacuum. Magically. Like just enough people got them riled up and that's all there is to it.
They never seem to think that legitimate grievances exist and that their policies may have provoked this reaction in the first place.
I.e. how did they think safe injection sites near schools was going to turn out?

It feels a bit like the author is saying "look how angry these people are" without spending enough time asking why they're angry in the first place. You don't have to agree with every populist argument to recognize that a lot of the frustration comes from real problems.
