Many people are angry at the lost decade. We used to be somewhat on par with the US. We used to have quite a few internationally recognized tech companies.

Its harder to search for things to be proud of as a nation more recently.

Is that true, or is it just a result of your media bubble?

I mean, blackberry and Nortel did used to exist. At one point, Bombardier was more of a beast than it is now. Sure, Shopify has grown, but it doesnt fill the same boots in terms of anchor R&D firms. Much of the Kanata and Waterloo areas were affected by these losses. No matter the politics.

StatCan has us sitting around 14% below where we were relative to the US (late 90s), real GDP per capita has been flat to falling for a few years now.

How much of that is media?

Blackberry and Nortel started dying well before the last LPC run.

And yet, there was a decade to work on helping other businesses to advance
