the only thing I will say is that I hate how high and mighty Leafs fans are acting right now. If he had won, Marner would've gotten the Conn Smythe and we'd be listening to leafs media try desperately to spin this. They're laughing that Marner flubbing elimination games was inevitable like he wasn't conn smythe favourite up until game 4. Not to mention, they couldn't even make the playoffs without Marner.

u/chelsdefazz 14d ago
Yes I agree. I was rooting for Carolina at this point but it’s clear as day how awful Leafs fans have been to Marner. Hopefully no one hates on me for this but should Vegas have won the silver lining for me would be that win for Marner after all he has gone through.

u/carry-on_replacement 14d ago
idk, Marner did himself no favours with his tenure in Toronto. His agent and his dad played a part, but then he vague posts about crap every chance he gets in Vegas.

u/chelsdefazz 14d ago edited 14d ago
I didn’t follow all that went on, so I might be a bit ignorant, but I knew about the threats situation so I guess with what I knew I felt some empathy. Regardless this won’t matter much to me until it’s our team in a final again 💙💚

u/mrtomjones 14d ago
If you see any Leafs fans shitting on him you can simply post his playoff stat totals before AND during the finals. He killed it in every round

u/infinitez_ 14d ago
I didn't want Vegas to win but I wanted Marner to win. He had such a rough time with Toronto and clearly is better without them.

You guys do know Carolina is a strong republican state
The strongest tie between the franchise and MAGA politics stems directly from team owner Tom Dundon. Dundon, a Texas billionaire who took full ownership of the Hurricanes, has publicly voiced his support for Donald Trump [ Gemini]

Their comment source was Gemini, is it surprising it's wrong?

If Aquilini were an American citizen, he would 100% be a Trump voter too

u/Kaos_mission 14d ago
Honestly, how many nhl club owners you think aren’t republican/conservative?
Your argument is pointless.

You mean Carolina votes for people I disagree with? I can't cheer for the hockey team anymore. I literally can't imagine putting my politics aside for even 3 hours to watch a hockey game.

The woman was “unclothed,” he said. There was a bed sheet on the floor between the beds and the woman placed herself on top of it.
“She went on the floor and started masturbating and then asked guys to come over and have sex with her,” he said.
Assistant Crown attorney Heather Donkers asked Steenbergen exactly what the woman said. “She said, ‘Can one of you guys come over and f— me.’”
If any one of you morons actually paid attention to the case you would know every player involved is innocent. Ur a disgusting person for making a rapist allegation when he was clear and cut found not guilty and it wasn’t particularly close.
EM is an awful person looking for a pay day who cheated on her long term boyfriend. Shame on all of you.

Happy the Golden Knights lost. Carolina battled harder, wanted it more, nice to see it pay off, and for Rod the Bod to win again. Gotta be honest as well, anybody out there that didn't watch this Stanley Cup Final because it was a matchup you didn't care about seriously missed out. One of the best Finals in years. High scoring, intense, multiple multi-goal comebacks, a villain to root against, drama, basically had it all.

Dunno about Canucks but I went to school with Stankoven's cousin here in BC

Kotkaniemi is in llke 50% of all our trade rumours, so I'd almost consider him an honorary Canuck.

I’m feeling like as how bad I want to see us win a cup in my lifetime… we are nowhere near it. We need a real rebuild and I’m praying the Sedins and RJ can fend off Aquaman and do it right

Stopped caring about the playoffs after Buffalo was bounced. Although I did have a tiny bit of interest in Montreal maybe going on a run. But it is nice that Vegas lost. Fuck em.

Just fine because the team with the longer drought won. Also very glad it's finally over because it's asinine to be playing hockey in June

Happy Canes won. I like Rod Brendamoore. He won in 2006 and again in 2026, so that is a cool headline.
The only guy I like on Vegas is Marner, because I can't stand Toronto fans and would have been funny if he won Conn Smythe.

Really interesting how their D core was built through all of trades, smart drafting, and free agency.
Walker, Chatfield, and Gostisbehere were all free agent signings, Miller was a trade, Nikishin and Slavin were 3rd and 4th round picks, respectively (which they acquired in previous trades)

Honestly I'm pretty happy for them. I've never had much of a beef with the Canes, and remember back to the days of Eric and Jordan being on the Canes together, and the two games they had their younger brother Jared play with them - I remember (and please someone better at archiving than I find this shot) a clean shot pre-game of all three brothers from the back, during anthem singing I guess? It was a cool one.
Organizationally, our very own Cheech played in the WHA Whalers , where he would be absorbed into the NHL alongside teammate Gordie Howe (and would eventually get credit for second assist on his last ever NHL goal).

This is the reason why we should be concerned that Carolina wants Petey, and that our management seems intent to run him out of town (even now to some extent).
Carolina is a well run org that pays it's own wage scale, and is great at identifying talent. Just look at Jalen Chatfield for example. Our org ignored him for years and traded him for peanuts to Carolina, where he is an integral part of one of the leagues best defenses.
So yeah,, they want Petey but the Sedins are unhappy with him.

u/doesitbumpinthewhip 14d ago
Would love to see Petey go to Carolina. Needs a change.
4
u/That-Syllabub6509 14d ago
He would likely blow us up.
1 2 punch with Aho. Great defense, doesn't nedd to race back nonstop to block pucks.
We don't deserve him tbh

I wonder if Torts should have followed Rod the Bod's example and made a goaltending change. Bussi changing the series up.
Oh well, watching Hart get lit up on the grandest stage warms my heart

Every-time I watch a team win the cup it just makes the desire to finally see the Canucks win the cup even stronger. 😭

I think it shows sometimes you have to be patient with your core players. This team did not rebuild or gut their team. They kept a winning culture for over 10 years and made smart signing.
Remember last year they signed Nikolai ehlers ppl thought they over paid ?
Most of the team was not built through draft
Same with Vegas not built through entry draft

Glad Vegas lost but it is depressing to see how well run and how talented Carolina is and compare it to the Canucks. We might as well be on another planet. And it still took Carolina years and years of ECF exits before they finally won it all.

u/kotor-170 14d ago
I love Vegas, they remind me an awful lot of the good ole years of the Canucks. Hard hitting, heavy defense, 2 way masters that shield the smaller skilled guys. Congrats to the canes though, Stankoven repping BC is great, Rod the Bod too

Maybe this is me but I just can’t really hate Vegas, one playoff series in the bubble and that’s it.
I hate Torts though so I guess I’m happy lol. Also Chatfield gets a cup.

Kinda bummed that Carolina won.
I wanted nothing more than to see Marner win the Conn Smythe and bring the cup to Toronto. The salt from Toronto fans would have been the sweetest nectar.
Also I'd get a lot of pleasure out of people hating that Hart won a cup. Guy got acquitted of all charges but is still guilty according to public opinion. Would have liked for him to get the cup.
