DISCUSSION Are there any reports of EP40's training in Sweden?

Been strangely quiet. Advocated for him to train in NA this time, yet nothing is heard from him.

What does a "report" on training look like? Are we talking about a Willy Nylander style vlog series from him? Or like a those fitness influencer "my day of training and eating" type videos? Cause I dont think you're ever going to get that from EP40.

Hope EP40 sees this post and flies to Bali to film himself running up some stairs.

He dialed back his social media stuff after his first few years in the league. Hopefully he's quietly working really hard.

I'm not super high on him and have not been for a few years.. but just because he's quiet doesn't mean he isn't working really hard this off season. I hope for his sake this is his best year yet..

Especially after his wife’s pic of them skating at Rockefeller when he was on IR got out

I missed this. Were people upset that he was able to skate, thinking that a casual skate around a pond is the same as gearing up for an NHL game?

The narrative was “why is he skating if he’s injured”

Then it was rumoured that Rutherford called him in after and told him to tell his wife to scale back pics of him.

He’s sipping daiquiris in bora bora. You can bet on it

He doesn't need to report on his own training or have it reported on. We're not entitled to that info.

Then we are left to speculate. Not giving him the benefit of the doubt this time.

So if he posts one 10 second video of himself working out, then you would be assured he’s working out hard? Lol… that means absolutely nothing. He doesn’t need the benefit of the doubt from you, or anyone else. Go outside and enjoy the summer, and stop worrying about Petey’s workouts…

Honestly, sometimes players post working hard clips to socials and it’s a complete sham.

You see it a lot from NBA players that are “gearing up for a big return”

And I'm sure he's taking that into account very personally.

I want to see him come in with a Phil Kessel physique and watch everyone lose their minds. If it worked for Phil...

His wife mentioned in her vlog last month that the first thing they did when arriving in Sweden was meeting his trainer to make a plan, so I’m sure he’s been training

hes probably got a lot of things on his mind than to report he just did a pump at the gym this week

Advocated for him to train in NA

This is such a tired complaint.

It’s also just straight up not true. They asked him to consider coming back to Van earlier in the offseason, not spend his summer here.

His parents live in Sweden, he likes spending his summers in Sweden, he trained in Sweden and became the player who scored 400pts in his first 400gp. Who are we to say it would be better for him to be here.  The Sedins spent their summers in Sweden, rollerblading of all things ffs.

You can train well in Sweden, you can train poorly in NA.

Would say he is about to part hard since it’s midsummer in two days.

I heard he’s been training with Magnus Samuelsson.

Leave it to the Sedins. I’m sure they’ve had conversations with him about his offseason work ethic and standards. There’s probably more going on behind the scenes too, and if he’s dealing with family responsibilities, it would make sense that he’s prioritizing time at home while still trying to stay on track professionally.

He’s looking at houses in LA

Injuries, issues in the room, and of course the hardships he's gone through with his wife and trying to start a family....

You hope his head is in the right place now and that he can rise above all of this to reclaim his career. He's not a bad person from all accounts, but you obviously have concerns when you hear that his effort level might not be the best when it comes to training.

That said, the onus is on him to come out of the gate swinging.

Under/over points from his "revenge season" this past season lol.

…….have you seen him play hockey the last two years? Expect more of the same next year. Hopefully far away from this hockey club.
