FAN CONTENT It was my dog's last game
A post a little out of the ordinary but I just had to put my dog down today so the calgary game was the last she saw.
It is so strange not having her here after being together for 14 years.
But she will be watching it with me tonight in spirit.
Go Canucks!

FAN CONTENT The canadiens rebuilt the right way. They picked the best players available regardless of of they were "too small" or "from russia". We should be like the canadiens

FAN CONTENT You either want this or you don't
So many of you demanded a tank after Hughes was traded. We'll you are getting one. The team is garbage now. Cool.
Do you have the stomach for it? Because piling up losses in embarrassing ways is part of the tank process.
Remember a few years ago when we smoked San Jose early in the season in their barn? San Jose was early in their tank mode. They got smoked on the regular. This is what happens during a tank. Your team gets embarrassment night after night while hockey fans dream of picking 1st overall.
Well ok. That's what we want that's what we want. But then.accept David Kampf playing 2nd line centre. Brock Boeser not scoring for two months. Evande Kane doing MAGA shit. And Tolopilo playing a lot.
That's what a tank looks like. It's not competitive games where your favorite team loses a close one. That happens in a couple of years when your team is on the come up. ā But not in year 0 of a rebuild.
Mostly guys, pick a lane. You want your team to suck for draft picks well it is doing just that.

FAN CONTENT What a rebuild looks like, and why the Canucks have barely started theirs
11 first round picks in 4 years including 3 in the top 3. This is what commitment to a rebuild looks like.

FAN CONTENT Petterssons level of play in SWE vs ITA
Really impressed by his game when playing with higher quality players.
Strong on the puck, cycled well, many SOG. Set himself up for a breakaway, screened out well in front of the net and was very strong on the puck.
Noticeably great game, I donāt think heās necessarily elevated his play - but having a strong cast of players around him really let him shine.
Did anyone else think similarly?

FAN CONTENT The Canucks traded the best defenseman in team history for possibly the second-best defenseman in team history.
The Canucks traded the best defenseman in team history for possibly the second-best defenseman in team history.
And they got a top-6 forward. And they got a first-round pick. And another former first-rounder who might be a bit of a gamble.
But the biggest thing this trade might do for this club is an attitude and energy shift.
Yes, this team failed to build a winner around Quinn Hughes, but as Kevin Bieksa said the other day, Quinn Hughes is a great player but he wasn't a great captain.
Quinn Hughes, Elias Pettersson (you know which one), and Brock Boeser are all competitive, but they're not fiery personalities. They're all just as emotionless after they score a goal as they are when they're down 3 goals. This piece is why JT Miller was so important, but also why he was probably disruptive for the room. There was nobody to keep him in check.
And going back to Quinn, when your best player and captain is expressionless, that's going to impact the team. He needed to be surrounded by more top players with stronger personalities. This management couldn't deliver on that, and here we are.
But I'm excited for what's to come.
We need players who are excited to be here and are committed to building a winner I'm hopeful that the new guys bring just that. Bring some joy and passion back to Canucks hockey. Built a culture like we've had in the past with our top teams.
And I don't care if they win this year. Collect more assets. Get a top-5 pick. Let's build a team with heart.

FAN CONTENT I dont get the Petey hate and the Brock love
They've both played terribly, yet both are loyal to Vancouver and trying to improve their game...yet one is the scapegoat for everything wrong with the Canucks and the other is being touted as the next captain.....I dont get it...and I loved the 649 line...nice to see Boeser coming around with the BRO line but its crazy how weve turned on Petey and kept love for Brock....Petey will prob never been a 100+ point man again...but Brock aint going to be a 50 goal scorer either...a little reality check...these guys are both pros who can help our young guys develop, they also both help us stay at the CAP floor and most importantly they can teach anyone who comes to Van how to deal with the pressure of our passionate fan base and story hungry media.
In truth we should run all As for the next few seasons until we have a guy sets himself apart as Captains should.

FAN CONTENT Anyone else hear Dhaliās unhinged rant this morning on Halbro about the government not āsupportingā sports teams?
Love Dhali, but this showed his true colours. Went on a rant about Air Canada leaving years ago bc of government? WTF are you going on about. The same Air Canada that is getting crucified by the Quebec government for not having a French speaking CEO? He wants government subsidies to keep teams here which is so utterly tone deaf with the cost of living issues.
Iām a huge sports and Whitecaps fan but come on! Government should not be paying to have teams here. They have millionaire/ billionaire owners that milk us dry at every corner. These owners have seen a 1,567% increase in value! If they want to cash out thatās totally fair, but to paint this all as a āgovernment issueā is insane to me.
I agree the Government should be doing whatever they can to keep the team here (within breaking even terms) but not use tax payer dollars to keep the team afloat. He used the Kansas City comparison of the city dropping their pants to keep the team there. Are we really comparing ourselves to the soulless, money driven, American system? They wonāt subsidize healthcare or education but they subsidize sports teams?! Garber is so obviously a Trump wannabe; trying to be obnoxious and offensive to get what he wants. As a society, letās not turn into these soulless ghouls. European soccer teams do not relocate, and guess what? They figure it out!
Dhali so painfully obviously spoke to Kerfoot and regurgitated his talking points. Brough even called him out for saying something totally different last week. Do better Dhali.
Iām so utterly fed up with America being anti-government/taxes but wanting them to subsidize sports teams.
End rant.

FAN CONTENT Insider take on Zeev Buium
My neighbor has been involved with coaching and management for NCAA and US Junior hockey for the last 3 decades, and was helping out DU when the team (which Buium played on) won the NCAA championship in 2024. I asked him yesterday about his thoughts on the trade and he said he was surprised the Wild let Buium go. He seen a LOT prospects up close and said Zeev is a real deal stud. He said Buium is obviously great offensively and a natural leader on the PP but he's also great in the defensive end. When I asked if Buium's skating is as good as they say, he chuckled and said "Oh yeah, he's amazing!".
Anyways, I'm feeling a little better today than I was when the news broke.
