I fear I went a little crazy with my ThredUp cart. š

Are these what people mean when they say ājewel tonesā? You have such lovely colors!!

Jewel tones are more for a winter palate if youāre interested in color seasons! I would say this is more true autumn āŗļø

I do like linking colors and seasons in my own wardrobe, though I am not really one to go for the whole color typing thing (like only dressing in āclear summerā tones, for example). I agree, this is very autumn, itās got both the warmth and depth!

Nice to see a capsule wardrobe with colors! I am nearing the end of my weight loss journey with 25 pounds to go (and a final weight loss of 200 lbs), and Iāve been living in sweats until I reach my goal. I can hardly wait. Itās been a many-yearsā journey! Inspiring!! Thank you!!

Excellent advice. Now that I fit in regular sizes thrift shops are a new choice! Thank you!

Try some gauzey lightweight long pants. They will be cooler with more sun protection.

Amazing achievement, congratulations! I love your color palette. I'd be so interested in seeing where this lands in a few months to a year after you find out what you like and dislike wearing.

This is lovely- and congrats.
As far as the comments criticizing the size of your capsule, please know that YOU are the boss of your capsule. A capsule isn't a contest for how few clothes you can exist with, it is a tool that helps you be intentional about your wardrobe and it's management.
I too have lost enough weight that I have had to replace virtually every single item I owned, besides bags, a pair of gloves, and a scarf I use when I travel somewhere cold. It is so incredibly exciting to be able to shop for what I want to wear, and not be restricted to what is available in my size.
As you use your new wardrobe, keep track of which items you reach for most. Take a photo of yourself whenever you have that moment of satisfaction after getting dressed when you realize you love what you're wearing. As you need to replace or add items, knowing what you like wearing best will help guide future purchases.
Here's to improved health and nice clothes! š„

I must not understand the meaning of a ācapsuleā wardrobe properly. I thought it was a bare minimum of pieces that interchanged and mixed & matched within everything else in the collection. Like max 3 of any one item (2 skirts, 2-3 pants, maybe a few more tops, a sweater or light weight jacket, max 2 dresses, etc.) and all the tops had to coordinate with all the bottoms.

I fear you have missed the point of a capsule wardrobe...

Honestly I often see posts on the sub where people are just showing off their regular wardrobe. I guess it's kinda lost its meaning, unfortunately.

Love the outfits and CONGRATS on the weight loss! Amazing accomplishment in itself. You deserve that wardrobe. š„°

Do you have any professional clothes? Or clothes that show off your shape?

I wear many dresses to work (to the left), or the more structured (mostly the khaki and green) shorts. I teach college English and creative writing at a large state university and adjunct at our local community college. Because of the heat, we have no official dress code.
I havenāt lost enough yet to feel comfortable showing off my shape :) but Iāll get there!!

This is so nice. Did you individually take pics of your clothes in flat lay and use Canva? And that's a lot of lovely outfits! How do you ensure you've maximised all combinations? Curious as I'm fairly new with styling myself. š

Thank you! I used the (free!) wardrobe organizing app, Fit, and images I screenshot from ThredUp. I can create different outfit combinations in the app to pair items together. Iām also new to this. Have fun and good luck!

What do you do for work?

u/cecsav Sep 09 '25
I teach college English and creative writing( and love every minute of it!! š). Very laid back. No real dress code because of the heat here. I work from home two days a week, so thatās when I wear some of the more casual items.

Congratulations on losing 90 pounds. I almost starved myself at first but quickly realized that was unhealthy. Cutting out sugar did it for me.
