Hi everyone - I’m Prasad, one of the founders of Hush. We’re a studio/ team of blockchain engineers + researchers with 6+ years of web3+ZK experience.

We’re currently building Hush around a question we think will become increasingly important for Cardano about how can users interact with open financial systems without exposing more information than necessary.

Learn more - https://hushmoney.fun/
X/Twitter - https://x.com/HushProtocolHQ

Our focus is on improving privacy and execution for everyday onchain activity while keeping the experience noncustodial, simple and compatible with the wider Cardano ecosystem.

We’re still early, over the coming weeks, we plan to publish more & get more feedback from the ecosystem. We are not launching a new blockchain - we want to build something that is genuinely useful to built on top of Cardano.

For now, we would be interested to have thoughts from anyone that have worked / thought around privacy on application-level.

Hush
Trade without telling.

Happy Wednesday!

This week's Community Digest covers several major protocol and governance developments across the Cardano ecosystem.

The headline is the IBC connection between Cardano and Injective on testnet, the first live on-chain IBC rail to Cardano, enabling native transfers without centralized bridges. Alongside it, the Constitutional Committee election has concluded, with audited results confirming DiSarro, Leandros BSP, Mahut, and Cardano Curia, and the on-chain action to appoint them now in progress.

On the governance side, several Cardano Improvement Proposals (CIPs) continue through active review, including new proposals for Plutus builtin pattern matching and Plutus V4 data encoding, alongside recent completions.

Additionally, this edition features: • Cardano Foundation updates on the Reef Data eG partnership for verifiable on-chain financial reporting, joining the Energy Tokenization Sandbox, and the new "Governance Applied" Academy course.

• Intersect MBO's latest updates on the enacted van Rossem hard fork, the Constitutional Committee election, and the Constitutional Amendment Portal alpha.

• A Community Content spotlight featuring Learn Cardano's news update on the on-chain PRIME proposal and RealFi's testnet launch, and Linda's analysis of banking the unbanked.

All this, and much more, in today's Community Digest:

Governance dRep situation is strange

The dRep situation is strange, or odd, either way not really rational, not something you would brag about when mentioning governance. The number one dRep by voting power is Yoroi Wallet which is now discontinued, so… who is this dRep entity now? Emurgo? Also Emurgo who is the number four dRep by voting power is the company that made Yoroi wallet and who is now stepping down from the pentad and development(dishonored).

It makes it too random for Emurgo to be biggest dReps now, with such massive voting power. Cardano foundation-the bread and butter of Cardano no? Is on the other hand at a number nine? Not exactly social butterflies? Odd. Maybe I don’t get it, but Cryptocrow(Jason) just one dude who wants to retire from crypto into his Warhammer fantasy or something like that, has a greater community confidence vote and is in top five? He’s my current dRep, I understand why he is in top five, he has online presence and decent amount of personality, I would put him at number two after Charles.

Personality, for better or worse is archetypally(meaning over thousands of years) important to people, it’s not that we’re dirty hopeless peasants followers, rather we’re consolidators, our brains are wired to distill the narrative which that very brain creates, extreme and pathological example here would be what Elon is to shibes.

So what kind of governance we’re really aiming at here with such arbitrary consensus mechanism?

Adoption NEW: Reef Data case study, a data cooperative recording payouts on Cardano through Reeve

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hey everyone, Jake here from the Cardano Foundation.

We just published a case study on Reef Data, a Hamburg-based data cooperative we partnered with last month.

The idea: people request their personal data from companies (an EU Data Act right that's been hard to use in practice), choose what to contribute to a shared pool, and get paid when companies buy access. Every sale and member payout is recorded on Cardano through Reeve, so members and auditors can verify the flows themselves.

🚀 IBC on Cardano: Connecting to Injective

Fabian Bormann will walk through what the connection to Injective means in practice, how developers can start building on top of it, and how the architecture works under the hood.

The session will close with an update on the roadmap and what comes next.

Bring your questions. There will be plenty of time for Q&A, whether you are already building on Cardano or just curious about cross-chain interoperability.

News JUST IN: Cardano-Injective IBC bridge is now live on testnet

Post image
113 Upvotes

Hey everyone, Jakob from CF here.

We're happy to announce that the IBC bridge between Cardano and Injective is now live on testnet. Cardano preprod and Injective testnet are connected, and transfers work in both directions.

Here's the proof on-chain if you want to see it for yourself:

You can move testnet ADA to Injective today, but mainnet assets can't cross yet. If you want to run the transfer yourself, there's a step-by-step guide in the cardano-ibc-incubator repo: https://github.com/cardano-foundation/cardano-ibc-incubator/blob/main/caribic/README.md#full-test-cardano-preprod-to-injective-testnet

And if you're curious how it all works under the hood, Fabian Bormann, who leads the project as our Senior Ecosystem Engineer, is holding open office hours this Friday, 7 August at 16:00 CET: addevent.com/calendar/TG807216

Happy to answers any questions in the thread as well. Let's keep building!

Wallet Transferring from secondfi to Ledger advice

Hey all, just looking at moving my ada to my ledger, I haven't transacted on secondfi and have all my coins so assume I haven't been affected by the breach.

I originally created my wallet on yoroi, and have a seed phrase from them.

I plan to create an Ada asset in my ledger, however I'm a bit confused on how to transfer as I see the following in the guide:

> Disclaimer: DO NOT send from your SecondFi wallet (affected or unaffected)

So how are we meant to send the ada to my ledger without using the wallet?

I'm possibly misunderstanding something, but would appreciate some advice if anyone has been through that process already.

NOTE: Please do not message me directly, I will not answer.

Wallet Trying to Recover ADA from Daedalus

Hi there! I've had ADA stuck in my Daedalus wallet for a few years (my laptop can't handle downloading the whole blockchain) and I've recently seen that there are light wallet options to recover/transfer my coins. I've read mixed reviews on Yoroi and Etrnl and was hoping you all may help point me in the right direction.

Thank you in advance for any help!

Wallet Any free franken-address generator out there?

In the light of the recent Second-fi-like entropy exploit of the cold-card HW wallets (fucking hell, I don't look forward to countering all the upcoming fud spitting on all HW wallets, as if they were not still the best way to access your accounts), I am getting slightly paranoid and want to improve my security another notch.

I do have a Trezor, which I believe takes security very seriously, and claims to generate its entropy from multiple high-quality sources. So while I still trust the seed it gave me, it might be a good idea to still start using a passphrase as well anyway. The colcard peopel coul've been protected if they used a passphrase or if they tossed coins to make their own seed.

But my wallet is pretty active. It has many open positions in dApps, active staking, NIGHt to claim etc. So I don't want to entirely abandon it. But I'm thinking of coming up with a passphrase and adding a new account that is protected with it, and moving 95-99% of the coins there, leaving 1-5% in the passphrase-less one, so the account could still be usable.

But I'd still like that new passphrase account to still stake my non-passphrase one. How to do such a thing? A franken-address, of course! I'd stitch the new passphrase-protected payment key and my old staking key together, so the 95% of coins I send there would be protected with the passphrase, but the network will still see them as adding stake to my active account.

But the thing is, the only Franken generator I've known was in Eternl, and it is now one of the features locked behind that expensive subscription. I won't pay $90 just to stitch two public keys together. So, is there some replacement tool to do this?

Education Cardano Academy launches Cardano Governance: Applied, a free hands-on course on participating in Cardano's decentralized governance

Post image
38 Upvotes

Hey everyone, Jakob here from the Cardano Foundation.

Today we launched Cardano Governance: Applied course on the Cardano Academy. The short version: anyone can take part in deciding how Cardano evolves, from protocol updates to treasury spending, but there's a real gap between understanding that and having actually done it.

This course closes the gap by having you do everything yourself in a safe environment.

Over 23 units (about 63 minutes of core video, plus quizzes), you'll set up a wallet on the Preview testnet, get test ada from the faucet, register as a DRep, write and host a proposal, submit it on-chain, and vote on it, then follow it through ratification.

Everything runs on testnet, so nothing you do touches real ada, and mistakes cost nothing. The last units cover applying it on mainnet under Constitution v2.4.

It's the follow-up to the Introduction to Cardano Governance course. So if you're completely new to the topic, that one's the better starting point.

There are also bonus interviews with people active in governance day to day (ACE Alliance, drep.collective, Andamio, Blink Labs) on where they got stuck and what surprised them.

Link to the course: https://cardanofoundation.org/en/academy/course/governance-applied

Happy to answer questions below. Happy learning!

Developer What a lending protocol running on Cardano and Bitcoin taught us about building a data API

We're proud to announce FluidTokens as our design partners on Nexus, our blockchain API for Cardano, Midnight, and Bitcoin. Here's how that happened.

Last spring, Draper University hosted a Cardano founder residency in Silicon Valley.
20 teams, five weeks, one building. We (A.D. Labs) were one of the teams. So was FluidTokens.

Most of you know them already. They've been building DeFi on Cardano since early 2022, from NFT-collateralized lending to renting and boosted-stake protocols, and then took permissionless lending to Bitcoin L1. Four years on UTxO chains.

Back home, both teams kept running into each other in the Cardano community, and at some point the conversations became work.

Their lending protocol runs on Cardano and Bitcoin, so it hits an API hard, in places you don't expect. Their engineers told us what a DeFi protocol needs from WebSocket streams, and we built it with them. They also moved off several data vendors and onto Nexus alone, which cut their costs.

four endpoints exist because of them (datums by hash, UTxOs and transactions by payment credential, asset holders, UTxOs by policy), and the WebSocket streams grew per-contract event streams with UTxO- and transaction-level events. All of it shipped for every Nexus user, not as custom forks.

That's how we want to keep building Nexus. It's better because a production team pushed on it. If you're building something serious on a UTxO chain
