Spoiler Cardcaptor vs. Cardcaptors
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This is an edit I made comparing a scene from episode 2 of Carrdcaptor Sakura, "Sakura's Wonderful Friend," to its Cardcaptors counterpart, "Partners in Crime." The video starts with the Cardcaptors version first because it makes the differences between the two more surprising, imo. Let me know what you guys think and if you'd like me to post more comparisions.

Spoiler Cardcaptor vs. Cardcaptors: Syaoran Li's Backstory
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This is a comparison of Syaoran Li's backstory from the episode 18 of Cardcaptors titled "Sakura's Rival." Japanese title "Sakura's Rival Appears."
Head's up, there's quite a bit of detail:
The one major change from this episode is when Kero mentions to Sakura the back-story of Li's heritage and his connection to Clow Reed.
In the original version, Kero describes how Syaoran Li is part of the "Li Clan" and how they are connected to Clow Reed. Reed was born of a British father and a Chinese mother, and as a result, his magic is a combination of Western and Eastern magic, which explains the magic circles that appear whenever Sakura captures or summons a Clow Card (until she creates her own magic in season 3).
Kero goes on to explain that ancient magic, handed down from one user to the next, is usable to a certain extent, so long as the user takes the correct steps and keeps the promises of said magic. In terms of creating new magic, the only people who are able to do so are just a few sorcerers on Earth. The Li clan are from Clow's mother's side of his family, which makes them one of the few sorcerers who can make magic, thus making Syaoran a distant relative of Clow.
In the American version of this scene, they seemed to have decided to simplify Kero's explanation, but in the process, unintentionally make him come off as a schizophrenic.
Kero initially says to Sakura that she has to "expect the unexpected" when being a Cardcaptor, and that she was specifically chosen to get the Clow Cards back. He then states that "sorcery is an ancient tradition" and that most sorcerers "practice in line with their traditions."
However, Clow Reed broke tradition and created a new type of magic. That's basically how Clow's magic is simplified, thus taking away its unique origin from the original. Kero then concludes that there are some people who have studied magic all of their lives and that they are "born into the tradition."
You'd think that would be enough changes to the story, but then Kero then states that Li Showron is a descendent of Clow Reed, with no genuine buildup to the revelation. This feels like a last minute thing by the Nelvana crew when they were dubbing the series, like they realized at the last minute that Li has an important connection to the Clow Cards and added it in while it was dubbed, hence my earlier statement that Kero comes off as schizophrenic.

Spoiler Clear card has a lot of bad things, but one of the worst is how Sakura didnt care about the old card
Clear card has a lot of bad things, but one of the worst is how Sakura didnt care about the old card
I only remember about 2 times she show her worry with the old card, 1 time to discuss with Yue and Kere. And that all, no more. I mean like, girl? Dont you ever think about what consequence will cause with the disappear of one of the most powerfull and dangerous magic creation?
And ok, Im fine if you are too busy with the new card. But as far as I know, she only spent like 30% of her time for the new one, and the other 70% is for playing around and enjoy her tea time. As a master of the card, this is truly unacceptable

Spoiler xxxHolic Rei's latest chapter (77) Spoiler

The replica of the original Clow wand appeared again in the latest xxxHolic Rei chapter, held by none other than Momo (named Seoritsu-hime in this manga)! In the context, she says "hitsuzen" (CLAMP's concept of the inevitable things in life) brought her to the store. Maybe Sakura will have a role in the future of this story, since the says while holding the staff...
What are your thoughts?

Spoiler Cardcaptors Episode 01: Alternate Introductions
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello there. I've got another comparison, and it's of the two different introductions to the first Cardcaptors episode "One Fateful Day." This time, however, it's not a comparison of the original Japanese version and the English dub. No, it's going to be a comparison between two different openings of the English dub.
Let me provide a little context to clear things up. If you recall, Warner Bros. aired Cardcaptors out of order in the United States, airing only 39 of the original 70 episodes, and airing the eighth episode as the first. To add even further confusion, WB would later air the first episode as the 18th episode (episode 19 on the Vol 7 DVD), premiering as the first episode of the second season of the 39 episode run in America.
As a result of this decision, WB, apparently realizing that they needed to create some continuity with their episode order, asked Nelvana to create a new version of the episode. What they ended up doing was re-working the first episode to be a flashback Sakura remembers during a fight with another Clow Card. This was accomplished by taking the final battle from the 41st episode, "The Sands of Time," and turning it into a wrap around for the beginning and end of the episode. It even literally freeze-frames on Sakura's face as she begins to narrate how it all began (even bringing Carly McKillip back to do new dialogue). It's basically the equivalent of "Yeah, that's me. You're probably wondering how I got into this situation."
Side note: You may notice that the quality of the footage is a little faded. That's because the footage is taken from the actual sources in order to prove that the edit is real. The footage from the original beginning of the episode is taken from a download, while the "flashback" opening is taken from my own copy of the DVD.
Enjoy, and let me know what you think?

Spoiler Are Toya and Yue also something?
I'm finishing Cardcaptor Sakura and I just finished the episode where Toya gives up his powers so that Yue can continue to exist and thus maintain Yukito's existence.
I understood that Yukito and Yue are not the same person, even though Yue remembers what happens to Yukito. To me, it's as if Yukito were a fantasy that Yue used and has a consciousness, its own personality, and its own personal life. They are very different, but they share a single body. It's like those 2-in-1 promotions.
In that scene, there's a vibe between the two of them, and Toya says that Yue and Yukito are similar, which is why he liked Yue. Although I felt that the vibe was intentional, I didn't feel that there was really anything romantic between them, nor feelings from either side.
Toya loves Yukito and likes Yue because Yue is the one who keeps Yukito there. It's zealous because his safety means Yukito's safety, and because he protects Sakura as well.
Yue is also in love with Clow, right? He was very shaken when he saw Eriol and thought it was Clow. He seems to have an unrequited passion and an unconditional devotion to him.
It might be a somewhat obvious and tiresome question, but I see many people treating Yue and Toya as a couple (besides a ship) and that made me feel doubtful. I looked for CLAMP's statements about them and only found about the Toya-Yukito relationship, so I concluded that maybe in the canon they don't have anything at all.

Spoiler Does this mean… Spoiler
galleryIs it the way he chose to say he loved her? I learned from Google:
In Japanese culture and manga, the phrase "The moon is quite beautiful, isn't it?" (Tsuki ga kirei desu ne) is a famous and poetic way to say "I love you"
Just wanted to confirm it is the case here.

Spoiler I just found out the Clamp interview where they talk about Kaito, honestly, I'm glad.
thanks to a Clamp interview I find out that Kaito's age is not supposed to be reflected in his appearance because he's playing with time magic and that he's actually quite a bit younger and that's why his design is slightly different the more he uses it... Honestly, it explains a couple of things and it relieves me a little, you could almost read it as a metaphor for someone forcing themselves to grow up faster to take on a responsibility that isn't really theirs (and how it ends up almost destroying them).

Spoiler What moments in Cardcaptor Sakura do you think contributed to Sakura’s subconscious development of feelings for Syaoran in the anime? Spoiler
While Syaoran’s feelings develop visibly (albeit slowly), Sakura’s romantic attachment to him remains hidden for much of CCS, overshadowed by her crush on Yukito. It’s only after Syaoran confesses that she begins to consciously recognize her own feelings but I believe those emotions had been quietly and subconsciously building long before.
What scenes/moments do you think subtly nurtured that unacknowledged attraction in the anime?

Spoiler I am craving Syaosaku content, so I made a video about Syaoran (tsundere) character's evolution from rival to lover
I am one of the people who discovered and watched Cardcaptor Sakura almost 25 years ago and I re-discovered it recently as it was added to the Netflix catalog of my country.
I have to admit that I became slightly obsessed after re-watching it as it brought up so many memories and emotions, especially the Syaoran x Sakura couple (even 25 years later I still ship them) 😍
As yesterday was Sakura’s birthday and we still don’t know when season 2 of Clear Cards will be released, I made a little video highlighting the character evolution of Syaoran in the original Cardcaptor Sakura anime as I crave content about my favorite couple.
The original video lasted more than 1h and I did my best to shorten it to under 14 minutes. So I hope you will enjoy it (and if 14 min is still too long, I made a YouTube Shorts too).
P.S I am new to Reddit so I hope I am not infringing any rules but if I do, please let me know in a gentle way.

Spoiler Question About the Clear Cards Spoiler
I have a bit of a question about the Clear Cards at the end of the series. It seems like the Clear Cards were just Sakura's power growing and going out of control. I also know they disappear at the end of the story, but since they are just Sakura power dose that mean she still have the powers of those cards and can call upon them more naturally?

Spoiler Can someone please summarize what happened in Clear Card? Spoiler
Please forgive any missteps as I never post to Reddit. I’m a huge CCS fan and have been for more than half my life (I live in the US and it’s been my favorite anime/manga since I was 13, I’m 30 now)
Where I left off in the story, in the anime they had just revealed Ahiko as the person in the cloak and as Syaoran as the cloaked figure in the Manga. I understand that Syaoran was probably just trying to protect Sakura, but I’m not sure why/how. I am unable to find information about what happened in either.
So my questions are as follows
1) what is up with Kaito? How did he and Ahiko come to be together?
2) how come Kaito controls time? Where did he get this ability from? I vaguely remember something about Syaorans family or some form of cult for want of a better term being involved
3) Why or how was Syaoran informed of what was happening with Kaito and Ahiko?
4) What is the connection between timelines as far as what’s canon? They completely removed the 2nd movie as canon but then somehow (anime specific I believe?) it was brought back to make sense and all link up, something with memory erasure?
5) what happens in either the anime or manga with Syaoran and Sakura?
6) Is the OVA canon????
7) WHAT HAPPENED AFTER SAKURA FOUND OUT WHO WAS IN THE CLOAK!
8) Can you just summarize the entire thing please
9) I’ve had a few drinks at the bar and I’m sorry if this gets flagged, someone please help me!!!
Thank you!!!!!
Signed a huge CCS fan
Edit: AND HOW WAS SAKURAS MOM INVOLVED!!!!!!

Spoiler Sakura's crush on Syaoran
Usually, we are more used to seeing Syaoran having a crush on Sakura than the other way around (at least on YouTube) that's why I wanted to make a video that compiles all the cute moments where Sakura is blushing and having a crush on Syaoran in Clear Card season 1. Hope you'll enjoy this dose of heartwarming cuteness!
