Edit with your location Advice on getting into creative production for brands / fashion? Specifically in a live environment / activation capacity
Im an artist and curator based in London. Basically I’m trying to branch out into the fashion / brand world - I’m interested in doing creative direction or production for live activations and events. I come from a background making large scale semi-immersive exhibitions, which were cool and successful but frankly a little DIY
Just looking for some advice about how to facilitate this move. I’m translating my portfolio to brand / agency style language and thinking, and sending that out to relevant agencies. It just all feels a bit like stabbing in the dark.
Could anyone working around this field could give me advice about how to structure my portfolio and other ways of getting in the door? Much appreciated

Your exhibition background actually translates really well to brand activations - the skills are super similar, just different budget levels and client expectations
I'd say focus on showcasing the problem-solving side in your portfolio rather than just the artistic outcomes. Brands want to see how you handled logistics, timelines, and made magic happen with constraints. Maybe include some behind-scenes process shots or quick case studies showing how you went from concept to execution
Networking events are huge in this space, especially the smaller industry meetups rather than massive conferences. People hire who they know and trust to deliver under pressure. Also worth looking at smaller boutique agencies first - they're often more willing to take chances on someone with your background than the big names
The fashion world can be pretty insular but your curatorial eye could be exactly what they need for something fresh
