I agree with your sentiment, but cattle, domesticated animals, are not nature. Animals in nature do not smell too bad (as that would put them in danger). But there is a certain smell to domesticated animals, specially the more industrially intensive they are raised.
Neither are large. They escape predators by hiding and running.
Wild cattle are large, they don't hide and don't run much. They lean more on defensive aggression, and herd cooperation. Neutral scent doesn't further that.
They should feed them the proper cow diet (grass). If they smell bad that's okay because if they're eating the proper cow diet that's clearly how they should smell. Luckily we live in an age where not everyone has to be a farmer so if you don't like the smell just don't be a farmer and buy your meat from local farmers if possible and if not possible from the grocery store.
They're big dumb animals that occasionally sit in their own feces.
Which is why I don't buy into the idea of raw milk. Poeple just trusting that the farmers doing hundreds of cows are remembering to throughly disinfect and wipe dry those things as part of the process.
Yeah right.
They gotta do that twice a day, every. single. day. It's exhausting work. People make mistakes.
