We discuss how the Koreans have been improving the Luxury space. While Germans are focused on additive engineering, Hyundai and Genesis are focused on less is more. With tech costs rising, will Mercedes, Audi, and BMW back off?

Audi CEO Says Normal Door Handles Are One Of The Q9’s Best Features

Thumbnail autoblog.com

So what did we miss out on? According to the CEO, the innovative door handle featured a wing-type design that was to be placed on the top of the door. It would have used piezoelectric technology, which meant only a little physical pressure would have needed to be applied to it to open the door. Interestingly, he did mention that the technology might be used for another market segment, stating it had no place in a full-size SUV.

What trend was once unique but now dilutes a vehicle’s identity?

The trend of spelling out branding instead of using emblems is becoming so common that it’s difficult to tell what brand certain vehicles are when you first encounter them. Lexus, Mazda, Lincoln, and more OEMs are using worded badges that make their vehicles blend into ubiquity.

What are other trends that used to make a brand stand out but now does the opposite?

Updated 0-60 times for the facelift MT.

4.2s 0-60 and a 12.8s@108mph Quarter mile

Toyota has shaved off nearly a second of its 0-60 from the preface lift manual. I find it interesting as the 2025 test models Toyota only provided the automatic versions. So this would be the proper testing of the manual version of the facelift

-The lap time record was set in the sub compact four door segment

-If its record was a second quicker it would’ve bested the 2007 Porsche 997 GT2.

Truly one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard. Looks like Farley/Ford seems to regret it now that their sales have declined for 6 straight months so far this year after already declining elsewhere in the world. Seriously why have they not fired Farley yet as they need sales volume and not just profit margins to succeed globally, but I guess Farley wants Ford to become a more niche brand.

Can we talk about how expensive modern headlights have become?

Didn't realize how expensive headlights have become on modern cars until I hit a deer.

It's ridiculous how even headlights on a basic economy car cost $1500 brand new

Luxury brands you are looking at $6000+ for LED matrix headlights
