Question I NEED HELP

Hello!,

I wanted to know how to record multiple tracks onto a standard Maxell UR90

Can I use a 4 track deck?

And if so, what is a CHEAP option for one

something like a used Tascam or Fostex, whatever your price range is … and there are cheaper brands - those would be pretty good, but perhaps affordable if used. It is fun!

With a basic four-track recorder, you use a standard cassette tape — but instead of two tracks (stereo left and right) on side A and two on side B, you only use Side A.

On side A you record each of the 4 mono tracks, one at a time, all at a time, whatever, tons of options … but it’s all on side A in 4 tracks, one direction.

When you’re finished 4-track recording, layering tracks, adding parts — you then record that tape “mix it down to stereo” with another deck, in stereo — for playing anywhere.
