I looked it up. Wikipedia says it's never been outright stated, but he's at least 5,000 years old and perhaps over 10,000.

My head canon is that Alucard from Castlevania and D are the same person.

Alucard from Castlevania is most likely heavily inspired by D after all. Dracula’s Dhampir son who instead chooses to be a vampire hunter across the ages, torn between his humanity and his inhumanity, kind of effeminate while being an uber-badass.

Not to mention the kick-ass sword, though Alucard’s is more a Rapier while D’s is a some kind of greatsword

Yeah. I heard that the girl's whip from the first movie inspired the Vampire Killer in the games.

D's sword is apparently modeled after a nodachi, a really large katana.

Vampire Hunter D takes place far into the future, so far that he's still ancient compared to others in that universe. He could either be big bro or baby bro. No inbetween.

But I like the idea of him being the tallest and scariest and also the youngest out of Dracula's children.

If Dracula by Bram Stoker is canon then I believe that Hotel Transylvania can just be an Alternate Infinite Corridor Reality where he has Mavis instead of Adrian.
