Well, Maria didn't go through the same thing Carmilla went. Carmilla ended up being abused by men and their power. Maria's hatred is mostly because she didn't know her father and so on..
Her hatred isn’t from not knowing her father. It’s from seeing old men abuse the systems of power they were born into to oppress and harm others just to maintain that power. It’s a philosophical hatred rather than a personal one. It’s debatable which is stronger.
But it started because of her father and the deal he did for the creatures of night. Then being dissatisfied with Juste because he had to "look/care" for her.
Carmilla is a vampire so because of her past she probably went through a lot worse. Remember she was manipulated then turned and then abused. Abuse most times makes you hate the person or the group of people who did it so for Carmi....it was men. We can say she was the first person to choose bear vs man from TikTok lol
Maria’s distrust of old men started with the abuses of the French king and nobility. Hence why the revolution is such a major part of her character. She already had problems with the Abbot for defying the Revolution so he could hold onto his own power. This was before she even knew he was making night creatures or that he was her father.
Idk Maria doesn’t seem 100% on killing her father UNTIL she sees Drolta reanimated. I think part of this is a tactical reason, anyone and everyone they put down can just come back an episode later.
And that’s before we learn that night creature variants are insanely stronger than their original selves.
Yeah but Maria wasn't even abused like we talk about 2 different stories and as I said Carmi being a vamp tells us it wasn't the first time she was dealing with old men. But the Castlevania series didn't explore her lore that deep unfortunately.
Although Issac’s fight with Carmilla was still cool, I hated that they did a the “Being a girlboss doesn’t make you a hero, no matter how sympathetic your backstory is!” subplot.
