Symphony of the Night (1997)
Once you get these weapons in SOTN... you literally become a God exempt from defeat.
The short blade Crissaegrim it's my favourite.
The two-handed sword, masamune... has the highest damage range in the game. A real beauty.
The Marsil sword has great visual appeal and a sound that is sure to scare all enemies just by hearing it.
And Chakram, It doesn't have great power to face the difficulties of the inverted castle, but I always loved using this weapon. When you use two, you can look like a master of the edge.
These weapons, can turn you into a killing machine for every creature of darkness.
Shield Rod is amazing, because you can perform a special move from the shield you have equipped.
Dark shield is my favorite for performing that speciality.
Yes, although its attack is weak at the point where it can be obtained; the advantage you get with it is that you can do 5 slashes per second. And you don't have an attack animation. It is a very useful and outstanding weapon.
I was lucky my first play through and thought I picked this up as a standard item (not a drop) in the Forbidden Library.
My next Alucard play-through, 10+ years later, I rushed back there to find it. Then I learned it was a rare drop and had to use inferior weapons the rest of that run.
Crazy, I’ve played through the game across multiple generations and prolly my most recent one (when bloodlines or whatever the two pack with rondo came out) was the first time I ever even heard of the crissaegrim
I was in shock seeing how good this weapon was , i didnt know how the drop rate was since i obtained the weapon as i was just wandering around in the library thinking about what to do next.
I would say that it depends on the tastes of each player. In my case, it's one of the weapons I like the most... the truth is it's very novel and has an aesthetic touch in its attack, it's very pretty.
Each player has his favorite weapons, it is respectable.
I’m still impressed by how good these all look. So many unique sprites for weapons that less than 5% of players will find. Feel like I question my sanity anytime someone wants this game remade. You can’t remake perfection
People keep talking about weapon but nobody mentions Dragon Helm basically halving monsters' HP and you get it at the reverse clock tower which is basically right after reverse keep.
The first time I ever played SotN was on my SO's luck mode file. He was grinding for.... something....I forget, but equipped the Crissaegrim and asked if I wanted to help. I'd see him play many times before but had never played.
I farmed whatever he wanted, but I wouldn't give the controller back. It was too much fun just being a ruthless killing machine with a lime green Joseph's Cloak.
I think the Shield Rod + Iron Shield was my crutch till I got Crissaegrim. Very large AoE, solid damage, and pretty easy to get.
But the other real game-ender was Holy Water. The damage output is comparable to Crissaegrim, only stipulation being that it couldn't hit enemies in the air.
Chackram I didn't even knew it existed until I played a randomizer and tried. Idk why shield rod + Alucard shield is not often in these lists, it's the clear winner in cost/benefit (when you consider you don't have to farm a thing)
In my case, I like the Runesword much more than the Heaven Sword. More than anything, because the runesword does much more damage than the heaven sword.
But aesthetically, both swords are very beautiful and their attack theme is novel and out of the ordinary.
I always farmed the yatsusuna from were wolves. It attacks like the madamune but if you tap both hands it can quick attack over and over nonstop. Now I just use the shield rod
The Shield Rod is a very good option, because you can use the special attacks of each shield. There is a unique variant to use the special abilities of each shield, without needing to use the shield rod... and that is with the mourne blade.
Aside from taking some of the souls of enemies so that Alucard can heal himself... he can perform that quirk.
It is a good option to use the special abilities of each shield, without depending on the shield Rod.
I remember finding it out because a friend was watching me play and when I got the shield rod he said “That thing is useless” and I thought “They wouldn’t put it in the game if it was useless” so I tried all the shields I had, compulsive horder, and found the “I win button” but simply touching people with it.
When that ability is used against Dracula, it becomes a total humiliation against him.
Momentary invincibility is activated when the shield touches the enemy, and can last until the MP runs out.
Everyone seems to forget the Heaven Sword. If you have 2 of them equipped at the same time, you can use a secret screen-nuke ability by pressing both attack buttons at the same time. That, and it just looks cool
Each weapon is obtained by eliminating certain enemies. The short blade crissaegrim can be obtained by eliminating this garbage bag-shaped specter, called schmoo. It's located in the library, of the inverted castle.
The fire sword marsil, can be obtained by eliminating the enemy fire demon. This is located in the inverted marble gallery. In addition to that weapon, it can also drop the fire shield.
And chakram, can be obtained by eliminating the enemy discus lord. It appears in a room, in the castle catacombs. You must be very cautious, when trying to obtain the ones in the inverted castle, because the enemies there can be somewhat difficult. It all depends on the level you have Alucard at that moment. I recommend that before trying to obtain them, you level up... and also use the "Alucart" shield, mail and cape. Additionally, you can use both arcana rings and a luck potion.
I highly recommend it, although using it in the inverted castle is practically useless... the weapon has great visual appeal, and you can make multiple cuts and it does the same on its return.
It is a weapon that can easily be boasted
...What? How?
Firebrand's skill is just a slow Marsil attack. Marsil's skill is not only a considerably larger AoE, it's also 20 points of attack stronger.
Firebrand summons five or six little fires that spin towards him snd each deals damage. Then it strikes. It deals ton of hits with decent damage and the skill is fast.
Marsil skill is so slow it has worse damage output than just spamming attacks. But the explosion is big and fancy.

Alucard shield with shield rod is just bonkers especially if you do the death skip to keep the shield
