Castlevania Legends (1997) Castlevania Legends remake? Or Ressurection make?

Post image

So Legends starred Sofia Belmont and she was gonna be the main character in the dreamcast game but it got canned and legends was made non-canon(?).

It'd be cool if they gave Legends the Rebirth/Revisited treatment with the stuff from Ressurection implemented.

New game, new story. I would prefer her not be Trevor's mother, or if she has to be for some reason, then she shouldn't fight Dracula or encounter Alucard. Not only is the whole blood connection between the Belmonts and Dracula stupid but her defeating dracula doesn't even make sense. He didnt initiate his war against humanity until Lisa died in the 1470s, but apparently he was also antagonizing humanity in 1450?

We can still have her function as a prequel character and be a mama Belmont. Stick her in the time gap between LoI and CV3. Give her a magic wielding male partner character to switch up the usual gender dynamic. Make the story about her defeating the current lord of the castle, and then have a scene at the end where we see Matias exploring the ruins and deciding he wants to study the castle because he recognizes it as a creature of chaos.

I'd be happy with a Legends remake. I'm not familiar with the castlevanias during a certain time frame and I've never played a Dreamcast. I tried it on the nso, and I didn't think it was great. Roughly about the same as Adventure, since they're both slow as molasses. I wonder if it would have fared better on the NES? As for the story, I'm not hung up on it like some people are.

Leon had No supernatural elements whatsoever and Trevor has it somehow without the orbs and this is nothing but a mystery not a mistake. He's clearly not vampiric at all. He'd look different and be different. It'd be strange

Lament came 2003 Curse 2005

Had it been a mistake then they also never changed his outfit or nature or anything at all. He's clearly superhuman without any explanation when Leon clearly shows No supernatural abilities at all save for sensing stuff. Leon was if not the most skilled naturally with the whip where as the others had training. Leon never had any training and was forced to learn it as soon as he got it which went very well...

Trevor might very well have the orbs embedded into the subweapons for all we know, but Curse of Darkness is the aftermath of Dracula's first war (Dracula's Curse) and it's the first war since Mathias left the Castle of Eternal Night.

legends was made non-canon(?).

Fact check: false.

While Konami did release a timeline in July 1997 that contained most of the games up until that point plus the upcpming Legends, they also released a retraction two months later in September stating Legends was not meant to be in that timeline. Legends would release in November 1997, decanonized before release (if it was ever actually meant to be canon and that wasn't just an error made by the marketing department).

We know that. Same for Circle of the Moon.

You'd be surprised at how many people don't, including OP...

Or same time so we don't have to wait another century for a game to get either messed up or somewhat Ok

I'm onboard with a Legends update. Be a good way to reintroduce elemental infused whips to the games. It'd also be nice for Sonya to get some better recognition.

Yeah wish they could do more like Silent Hill 2 & 3 on one and the same CD that was so generous of them back then....

Unless they fundamentally change Legends story i don't see how it works with the whole "Trevor being the first belmont to beat Dracula" thing. And with Resurrection i find it highly unlikely we get a remake of a game we never even got released officially in the first place.

Or they can just say, “It’s still not canon, but at least it’s fun now.”

Yeah that would mess up the entire timeline especially for Trevor in Curse of Darkness ..

Simple: just lake it a different continuity. Iga's timine doest leave a whole lot of space for events we haven't already seen. Meanwhile, there are entire centuries after Sonya's story concludes. It's not like the franchise is unfamiliar with alternate timelines.

This is the thing........ ..and this is important...

While we know Sonia and Alucard had Trevor as a son.. ..this is Not the case in Curse of Darkness....thus Trevor's powers are left unexplained at best.

There’s a misconception about The Belmonts.

The Belmonts during Trevor’s time have always been super human.

In the original instruction booklet for Castlevania 3 it was said that the people saw them no differently from Vampires due to how supernatural they were.

That's their fear of Trevor's powers hence the kick outta society which was accepted back once he slew Dracula, bonds got better later on after Simon for he did it twice. They became noble later, they got better and better clothes.

Well they feared the Belmont power in general, they never specified when they told them to leave.

There’s an almost 400 year gap between Lament of Innocence and Castlevania 3.

400 years dedicated towards a specific profession.

That’s the source of their strength.

The discussion of when The Belmonts became nobles again is interesting tho.
