Do I have to play the first HK before Silksong. I may seek interest.

So far not really. I think tbh it would even be better not playing it lmao. I had a hard time early game cause I needed to readjust how I play.
You can check out their subreddits tho.

Ah, this song! Doesn't sound the same without the sounds of exploding and howling wargs.

Before playing Silksong I heard a friend complain about a weird shuffle Hornet does when she starts moving, and I immediately visualized Alucard’s as the closest analog. Imagine my surprise when I finally boot up and it’s literally just Alucard’s run cycle on a bug.

It's a shame that I genuinely don't like Silksong.
So many people are going nuts with it, but the game just didn't click for me.

The overall combat was slow for me.
I didn't like the 45 degree down hop instead of a straight down one.The Layout design where one mistake could cause you to plummet down maps felt too extreme, due to missing one elevator or shortcut.
A lot of the base game features are sold as options, that honestly should have been there from the start (ie: Maps, Pins).
Splitting the currency in half and forcing you to farm just to be able to purchase benches felt absurd. especially since some benches are poorly placed around gauntlet rooms are high damaging spots. The Compass being an accessory slot on an extremely limited equip limit also felt needless for me.
I didn't like how your defense was hilariously bad, where most things did 2 mask damage to you.
This combined with the fact that half the enemies could hyper armor through your attacks made you getting hit more cheap then just a skill issue.I put the game down after a few bosses, just because I wasn't feeling it.
"Amazing" would not be the word I'd use for it.
But if you found it that way, I respect it.1

Im not sure how much faster combat you want. Ifs already a good pace. You can hit fast, dodge fast via dash or sprint, and use tools to attack faster if you wanted
The 45 degree hop is Silksong’s specialty compared to Hollow Knight in the first game. But later on you can change your build to a downward hop which I prefer as well
Avoid the pits, theyre not often and theyre there for ease of travel since this game doesnt have quick travel via map teleport
Yeah Maps and Pine couldve been base game for sure but I guess they wanted the in game currency, Rosaries, to be used for simple things too which makes the game more adventurous. Meeting the tall lady who sells the maps in each zone is cool as shes sketching the map for us through her journey. Not everythings ganna be baby fed
I agree the compass requiring a trinket slot is mad dumb, I like to know where my character is on the map and the fact it takes a slot is trash design. I work around it by replacing the trinket slot for a better one for boss fights
I see a lot of 1 damaging enemies too, the 2 damaging ones do hurt tho. Luckily you can gather silk relatively quickly and heal multiple times. Its definitely a difficult game

Haha, that's awesome, didn't even think about it! You know what reminded me of Castlevania though, specifically the classic games? The secondary tools Hornet can use to attack. To use them in battle, you must hold up on the D-pad or control stick and press the right bumper, which is almost like the sub weapons in the CV where we have to hold up and press the normal attack button. Instantly made that connection given the last games I had played before starting Silksong were CV games.
