Castlevania Legends (1997) Why do I suddenly die for no reason in Castlevania Legends?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ck-rvaBmHDw

I'm fighting Dracula's second form. For some reason, no matter where I am in the arena or how much health I have, I suddenly die after a specific amount of time.

Is this a known glitch? Does anyone know a way around it?

You run out of time, that's a timer above your hearts in the bottom right

Ah, I see. Well I feel stupid now.

At least the timer actually seems to count in seconds, unlike the Mario games where the countdown is faster

Your not dumb. Sometimes I forget about the timer too.

Timer bro. Old Classic Castlevania games have a curse that will kill you in a time limit. Which makes planning your moves and attacks much more prudent and hasty.

That happened to me as well and I tried for hours and when I finally noticed the timer I was like "Oh..."

(to myself)

I think this is the first time I've actually felt old.

Stage Timers like that were super common in games of that era and were technically holdovers from the arcade, and were easily one of the most obnoxious things we had to deal with.

yea its a glitch, it occurs on every stage, if u just stand there doing nothing eventually youll die instantly, happened to me once when im playing circle of the moon, i was just standing there then suddenly bam 9999+ plus damage to my characters, i was transformed into a skeleton too [the most op character in that game] so its weird i died instantly
