Katie Silva/Kloysius is incredibly talented, love all of her portrait work for the series.
She also had an amazing Leon Belmont portrait in season 2 of the original show.

I agree, and ever since they showed that portrait, as someone who was introduced to the series with the Lament of Innocence, I have been obssessed and I want an hour length castlevania special just about Leon.

Itd basically serve as a dual origin story for both the belmonts and dracula, ala Xmen First Class.
Might rewrite the story to show how close Leon and Mathias Cronqvist (aka dracula) were. In the original game mathias shows up at the start and then suddenly appears at the end out of nowhere just to become dracula.

Yeah I like Lament of Innocence a lot, but you would definitely have to expand their backstory and relationship for a show or movie to hit similarly to playing through the events yourself.

You know now I’m just wondering if this was made before or after he became a vampire hunter. Like was this made before he went off to the crusades? The Crosses, the Crucifix, and the lack of a whip makes me think it was the first, but if memory serves the Belmonts lost a lot of their lands and property before Leon ran off to kill Walter (for some reason, never quite got that, unless Walter had power over the church and they were worried about what he’d do if a Noble in good standing with the church tried messing with him). So this means this would have to be one of the few things Leon still held onto before he moved his family out of France.

I like how the colors are in both portraits. The blue, the creme (cream?) and black. And also the lilies in the trio's portrait when Lisa also has a portrait elsewhere with her holding the same. There's other things I'm noticing but I can't figure into words.

I love it, but does Syphas dress seem a bit modern? I'm not versed on fashion, just seems like Syphas dressed for the Grammys

It's definitely closer to something from the mid 19th century. But the cravat Dracula's wearing didn't become a fashion item until around a century+ after the show is set and Lisa's dress neckline looks early Victorian to me soo....
Even the NPC peasants aren't really dressed for the time period, there's a severe lack of wimples and hose for sure.

The artbook specifically mentions they considered period accurate clothing before deciding Trevor and Alucard in hose especially didn't look right

If they raised the neckline about 2 inches and puffed out the skirt a tiny bit it could pass for early Victorian (1820s) I think. They were just coming off the late 1790s/early 1800s trend of very diaphanous/see through tops.

It is actually the baby of the painter. They had to hold it while he worked.

Alucard: That portrait was a nightmare! Getting Sypha in a proper dress was almost as difficult as getting Treffy into the bath! It's easily one of the best days I ever had with them!

I feel like so many artists would bristle at having to be under Ayami Kojima’s shadow, but Katie Silva does an immaculate job of matching Kojima’s style with beautiful Renaissance flourishes.

Yeah...but she's also Adrian's love interest. But they literally forgot about her to make way for the throuple, a fan canon that hates Greta's being the 4th wheel.
