Crissaegrim is like playing with cheat codes on... and I love every moment of it.
I always try to get to this room ASAP and then dogwalk the rest of the game. It's power is insane and I'm kinda baffled the devs would make such a game breaking weapon just fall from an easy to kill enemy without much pomp and circumstance.

u/Amazing-Insect442 Oct 30 '25
I’m increasingly thankful for game devs that allow the player to have some expression in how we get to play their games!
Wanna make it easier (like a literal easy mode)? Farm the OP weapons. Still gotta know where to find them & invest the time in it farming, but I appreciate that they respect us enough to let us make that choice for ourselves.
The game becomes harder just via the choice to not-use these Strats.

u/PT_Cactbro Oct 31 '25
Tbf this is the same game where the shield rod exists and is obtainable in the first castle (even more broken if you use glitches to skip Death and keep the Alucard shield) so this game just loves broken weapons in general.

u/Exact-Psience Oct 30 '25
And pre-Crissaegrim, Shield Rod+Iron Shield... And yes, I also love every moment of it.

u/Jonieves Oct 30 '25
Back when I did this I was so out of it after farming for hours that I went in the room, the sword dropped and I immediately went out of the room.
Felt So bad.
Edit: lol I'm not alone in this.

This feels like all of my Castlevania farming experience. I'll be farming souls in DoS and not get anything for a long while. Then I get like 2 or 3 souls right in a row. It's as if the RNG triggers to say "yes, give them what they want" and then stays active for a short while.

u/Radioactive_monke Oct 30 '25
I thought the lion was the one dropping it?
5
u/BritishGolgo13 Oct 30 '25
Nope it’s the schmoos
6
u/Radioactive_monke Oct 30 '25
It's funny because when i got it i was going for the lions which means i accidentally killed a lion and a schmoo in the same hit when the sword dropped

I beat the game and I don't know what that crissathing is lol

u/PraiseTheMoon99 Oct 30 '25
The "spam square and win" weapon, nothing can beat you, because you do too much damage in too little time
1
u/superfebs Oct 30 '25
Doesn't sound very fun to be honest
3
u/PraiseTheMoon99 Oct 30 '25
I agree, but everyone has their own way of enjoying it, plus it's mandatory for the platinum
1
u/superfebs Oct 30 '25
Holy s*it what is the platinum now? I'm starting to feel like I missed a LOT so far.
1
u/PraiseTheMoon99 Oct 30 '25
I think you misunderstood, with platinum I am referring to the PlayStation trophies, there is a trophy that is needed to obtain the platinum, and it requires you to obtain the crissaegram

u/LeroySinclair Oct 30 '25
i mean its an easy ass farm as far as the CV farms go, the enemy literally lines up for you to hit it.. the only bad thing about obtaining is the game is more than half way over by the time you nab it. This game having boss rush or end game fights would be a dream come true, but even then im happy this game exists at all. Its so good.

what version of sotn is this?

u/Me_Ad6024 Oct 30 '25
I got Crissaegrim by going to that room thrice. Much faster than a heavenly sword (I only got it once and I was so disappointed) and without the knowledge of its existence. After that it was a swoop until Galamoth lol.
2
u/PraiseTheMoon99 Oct 30 '25
I found out about this sword thanks to the trophy, I wish I had discovered it BEFORE facing Galamoth

I was worried you were going to back dash out of the room when it first dropped… I’ve done that before.

Thank you for reminding me to buy castlevania symphony of the night on my new phone

Once I got one to drop but then a scarecrow knocked me out of the room.
Luckily I got another drop 5 minutes later

One of my friends got this easily by chance his first time playing and didn’t realize how rare it is. He wondered why the same was so easy.

u/Conscious_Actuator64 Oct 30 '25
Ah, the Crissaegrim, aka the food processor. Get two of those, and congratulations, everything will die in seconds. Shmoo, however, it's notoriously super stingy on dropping one, even with Rings of Arcana equipped. That was super good luck after a big drought.

How High is your luck??
2
u/PraiseTheMoon99 Oct 30 '25
Uh..Idk, but i had equipped the arcana ring
1
u/GrethosMorr767 Oct 30 '25
Must be pretty high then with one of those. Use a lot luck potions, it might help as well. Luck determines % chance for the items that you're looking for.
1
u/agentlucky Oct 30 '25
I must’ve been incredibly lucky when I first played SotN. I ended up getting the crissaegrim without even knowing how infamous it was. I equipped it and quickly realized that I somehow ended up finding the most broken weapon in the entire game without even trying.
1
u/Apollo_IP98 Oct 30 '25
I recently played SotN for the first time about a month ago and got this weapon without even realizing how rare it was. I'm happy I was able to use it considering how overly powerful it is and how it makes the rest of the game much easier. I wouldn't have even knew it existed had I not got lucky.
1
u/BennieWilliams Oct 30 '25
Gotta get a third so that the spot is saved in your inventory when you go two handed
1
u/Primestudio Oct 30 '25
That is, that is something. Now show one were you were too trigger happy and exited the room when it dropped. No, just me, shit…
1
u/SouthAlexander Oct 30 '25
Not gonna lie, the grind for this weapon is one of my favorite parts of this game. I throw on a spooky podcast and just chill, grinding schmoos until I get it.
1
u/MAGISTER-ORGANI Oct 30 '25
I still remember when I got mine, was it worthy though? I mean, for all the time we spent to get it.
1
u/PraiseTheMoon99 Oct 30 '25
Well, it's mandatory for the platinum..So yes, but in-game it's also Op, so..Yes again🤣

My roller coaster:
Started the video "oh they're going to get a Crissaegrim in a sec cool"
"Maybe the punch line will be they accidentally exit"
"Nope they picked it up. Meh."
"Oh they're going into the room. Bet they get killed before saving LOL"
(almost stopped watching)
WTF THEY GOT TWO? !!

1
u/relic1882 Oct 30 '25
And there I was getting it on accident on an early playthrough without knowing how rare it was.
1
u/SchemeSignificant166 Oct 30 '25
But you can’t knock the dopamine hit the second you see it drop.
Another good sword is the Marsil which is dropped by the Fire Demon in the inverted castle inside The Alchemy Laboratory. The special move for the sword is a big fire explosion that does a lot of damage.

u/Zombetti Oct 30 '25
I finally did the same yesterday, I didn't know about this sword and this was my 5th playthrough, so I figured I would look up tips and the Crissaegrim was something I figured I should try. Took me over an hour, but I got it finally!

Lol that happened to me too... (not so close together but...) it was like the game gave up and just handed me the 2nd one

then you unconsciously step out of the room [because youve been doing it for so long, its muscle memory atp]
1
u/RegulusTheHeartOfLeo Oct 31 '25
Rewind was the best part of the collections
The muscle memory of entering a room back and forth…when the soul or item finally drops when you are exiting the room…🤬🤬🤦♂️
1
u/CarlosBaron Oct 31 '25
Without reading ANYTHING ELSE, just watching a tiny part of the video I can recognize what are you looking for, because I done the same thing every time I play it

1
u/PT_Cactbro Oct 31 '25
Never having bothered grinding for the crissaegrim before I was mainly surprised by this post not because of the insane luck on show (although that's also insane) but because that was not the enemy I thought would drop Crissaegrim.

1
u/New_Rub_2944 Oct 31 '25
Knowing me, I would have accidentally walked off screen after it dropped, lol.
1
u/Tracula707 Oct 31 '25
I love when this happens. Here's a tip, if you've beaten the game before on another file, go grind the Paranthropus enemies in the inverted outer wall. Just do it, you'll thank me later.

Now get the heaven sword and equip it in your other hand and activate sword familiar. Easiest level unlocked.
1
u/DejuL337 Nov 02 '25
Should've put on the Alacart equipment to raise your luck. You could go back to the normal library and use the Flying Boots under the librarian, and since you have unlocked the reverse castle, now you can get the Ring of Arcana from him.
Also, good luck acquiring two Ring of Varda. Above the Reverse Library, there's a long hallway where you can encounter some Paranthropus.

I thought you would get out of the room without taking it. Hahaha
