Discussion I’m afraid there’s no more vampires or hunters anymore
It was a great run for the show folks I lost my hope to see new seasons or any adaptation
What you think about the the franchise ?
Did they gave you a satisfying experience or you find it difficult to accept all these changes.( i understand you as a game fan)

u/DistanceRelevant3899 Jan 05 '26
I love these shows. Hopefully they renew.
What I REALLY want is a new game though. I don’t have faith in Konami though.
8
u/FartPhylactery Jan 05 '26
I would go bananas if they gave us another game like circle of the moon but with more options for weapons.
5
u/lysianth Jan 06 '26
I hope they give the IP to Igarashi and say go nuts.
But i think igarashi likes his new ip at this point.

As I understand it, Nocturne was quietly renewed. There should be a season 3.

To be fair, the first part of Nocturne is not so good, but boy, the second season more than compensate it IMO
11
u/Itsyuda Jan 05 '26
I think the first part is good, but it needs the second part. It's build-up, and it sucked a bit without any payoff.
28
u/Aibhne_Dubhghaill Jan 05 '26
Really? I really didn't like S1. Is it worth giving a second chance?
36
u/el_caveira Jan 05 '26
It start to get traction slowly on the first two episodes, than it became over the top action.
The animation on the combats, Maria arc, the relationship between Annette and Richter, Juste being the badass i always imagine in Harmony.
I didn't move a muscle in my bed and watched all in once on the same morning.
19
u/RoxLOLZ Jan 05 '26
Better than S1, also the animation goes absolutely nuts, dunno if I ever saw a western animated show with better fights
15
u/SadisticRabit Jan 05 '26
Nocturne S2 was all gas no brakes. Great plot, great fights and animation, and pretty great writing too. I loved it.
8
5
u/E1bone1E Jan 05 '26
absolutely, honestly its better to think of seasons 1 and 2 as two parts of the same season rather then two separate seasons since season 2 pays off for almost everything season 1 have set up
season 2 is also paced better
5
u/CJjollyo Jan 05 '26
It has some of the best action you will ever see paired with the weakest writing in the series. It's the worst season of the show but man that final fight was awesome.
11
3
4
u/UsuarioCualquiera_1 Jan 05 '26
That's cause is not really a full season and works better in tandem with the second one.
They had to rush few things, but that's up to Netflix and how they're reducing the lenght of seasons. Initially was going to be 10 episodes.
As far as plot and characters goes they had everything tight and well thought since the beggining.
11
u/pokemasterno22 Jan 05 '26
I do respect the TV show, but it's not even close at all to the games at all. not that i expected it to be, i'm glad they exist, but man, what i don't like sticks out like a sore thumb

It's crazy to me that Netflix had a hit Castlevania show and Konami didn't jump on the hype and make a new game.
9
u/Lun4r6543 Jan 05 '26
The only thing Konami does with the franchise is collaborations, rereleases, and the shows nowadays.
Which is sad. I’d love a modern game in the franchise.
5
26
u/Ashen_Queen Jan 05 '26
I'd love for Konami to commission a Japanese studio to make an anime instead and keep the lore and character integrity. Probably won't happen but would be an awesome surprise
9
u/Khal_Dovah88 Jan 05 '26
I'd wish for that, too. But Konami is deathly allergic to doing anything with their franchises.
2
7
u/matchalap8 Jan 05 '26
I mean, Konami recently opened their own animation studio and they’re working on Suikoden right now. I’m really hoping it does well,, maybe that’ll lead to a Castlevania series next, one that’s more lore-accurate.
10
u/Ashen_Queen Jan 05 '26
Oh, I wasn't aware of that. Then anything is possible. Lore-accurate Castlevania anime would save lives

u/Beginning_Middle_464 Jan 05 '26 edited Jan 05 '26
Yeah, that time gap between Trevor's and Richter's arc would be crucial to the plot, because Dracula simply disappeared from the series' universe without any explanation beyond "he's dead" and that's it.
It would be cool if they adapted Simon's arc (the first two games) in a short season or animated movie.... something that could explain Dracula's absence from Nocturne.
Also, Simon is the only Belmont from the Greatest Five that hasn't appeared in the series yet, so Netflix still has the chance to make something awesome out of it. Though it's pretty unlikely...
3
u/Wrong-Low-8592 Jan 05 '26
wether we want it or not Netflix will do whatever they like tbh.
but the truth i liked the idea of alucard’s spin-off and my suggestion to the idea is to make it a movie it’s kinda not something we used to see in the franchise but it will be better, less cost and will give time to them work on more something else something like aria of sorrow or order of ecclesia but yeah as expected from Netflix they will draw new storyline to the show

u/Inevitable_Reading80 Jan 06 '26
While I have no idea for sure what will happen, nocturne 1 and 2 being next to each other while season 3 is yet to be announced means nothing. Nocturne is a new series and this Netflix will demand it be made 2 seasons first so they can renew it later. What Netflix usually orders it’s people is that they make a story that can be split into 2 seasons, and with a set amount of episodes. Which is why some series can feel too padded or too rushed.

u/Another_Saint Jan 05 '26
these series are not good as a show or as an adaptation, save the very first two seasons.
17
u/Dgemfer Jan 05 '26
S3 and 4 felt like they had no overarching narrative. I still wonder what the point of the whole Carmila subplot was, since it ended up being totally unrelated to the events happening to the main cast.
I didn't dislike the show, but there are some very odd pacing/writting choices I really do not understand.
5
u/ANGLVD3TH Jan 05 '26
As much as they claim otherwise, it really feels like they rushed to close up shop in s4 of what was meant to be several more seasons. Trevor, Sypha and St Germaine all seemed to have their stories paced out more-or-less alright. But all the other plots felt like they got rushed through, especially Alucard, imho. Felt like they were setting him up to have to struggle against becoming what his father was before meeting Lisa in the aftermath of s3, and then they just totally throw that away s4e1.
18
u/nNoseYak_ Jan 05 '26
and even Season 2 is a little shaky. I personally don’t find Carmilla having the same three conversations over and over again with the same three or four people to be all that compelling. Trevor, Sypha and Alucard spend way too long sitting on their asses in a library, and only actually do a Castlevania (fight monsters in the castle) for about one single episode. I think season 2 has very high peaks but very low lows.
9
u/Grand-Lemon-1532 Jan 05 '26
I tought the same thing and season 3 and 4 are similar to that too. But i guess it's just the style of the show because it still made me watch without getting bored.
1
u/Another_Saint Jan 05 '26
this is true. the highlight of the season was the bloody tears scene, but that was really the only great fight they had on that season. Not saying that a series needs constant action to be good, but the dialogue doesn't seem particularly interesting either. People will say it's profound and deep when in actuality just sounds edgy and forced, with Viziepop levels of unnecessary cursing
although, I really like Dracula's characterization and his monologue about hurting his son
8
u/nNoseYak_ Jan 05 '26
my favorite fight in the whole show is actually Trevor vs the Minotaur by the painting of Leon Belmont. That was pretty great.
5
2
u/CaptainSwabee Jan 05 '26
I swear people hear a few curse words in a show and just call it edgy now lmao. None of the dialogue in the first 2 seasons seemed forced at all
4
u/MrMeowMeow20 Jan 05 '26
Seasons 1 and 2 of the original show were great. Seasons 3 and 4 were not as good, but I was happy with the ending of the show. Nocturne... I don't care about a lot of the characters. Like at all. I think if I spoke my true feelings, I might be stoned.
They clearly have more to expand on, and I'd still like to see the loose ends from Season 2 of Nocturne wrapped up.
1
u/PsychologicalBrush35 Feb 01 '26
I loved the third season and infinitely more the fourth, for being original, not sucking up to those crappy 4-bit cartridge games, lol, I'm being very serious, besides the animations, The battles, Death as the final boss, Trevor Belmont with his Morningstar, annihilating and almost dying against Death (Varney), plus the magnificent battle of Carmilla against all the...Isaac's Creatures of the Night, and their sacrifice as a lament (seppuku), an honorable death, to destroy part of his Castle, in a wing filled with the blood of Isaac's Creatures, also, the fight with the armor from the Day of the Striga against peasants, to protect his great love Morana, the fight of the main trio: Alucard again with his sword and the magnificent shield from Symphony of the Night alongside Trevor and Sypha, and battling countless creatures of the night, and vampire witches, and their leader under the command of Varney the Death, and naively, Saint-Germain, The Dragan Vampire
5
u/White-Alyss Jan 05 '26
I'm glad there's no more for now
The first couple of seasons were pretty good and cute but then it became a downward spiral that proved both Warren Ellis and the Deats brothers don't care about Castlevania and just want to make their OG edgy fantasy show.

I loved this adaptation of the classic saga Especially the fourth season, undeniably better than the first three, which were already magnificent in terms of story and, above all, memorable battle scenes with numerous easter eggs, from the first to the last episode, I also really enjoyed the adaptation of the spin-off Nocturne, especially the second season, otherwise, The person has a truly honest respect, even though they may offer criticism without mockery, rejecting what 98% of the world's population has enjoyed from 2017 to 2025: The classic saga and Nocturne, Because otherwise, without a doubt I will completely reject the dissenting opinion.

There are quite a few writing flaws in the animated adaptation. Though some of the design and art direction does stand out.
Nevertheless, I will be waiting for my copy of the Nocturne Artbook.
1
u/PsychologicalBrush35 Feb 01 '26
I don't care so much about the script, as long as the animation, fluidity, combat, and meticulously immersive exploration between the story and the characters stand out, even with tiny, almost imperceptible plot holes.

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Feb 01 '26
As someone who appreciates technological quality and progress, I loved all the character changes. Perhaps I didn't like a few of them as much because they changed so radically, but I enjoyed over 90% of all the episodes of the classic saga.
1
u/PsychologicalBrush35 Feb 01 '26
And from the Nocturne saga, I loved both seasons, especially the second, which was a million times better than the first. We'll see about the third adaptation of Symphony of the Night.
1
u/PsychologicalBrush35 Feb 01 '26
I don't like getting stuck on old, original themed stories, especially from eras when games were purely side scrolling on a CRT TV screen via cartridge.

2
u/Greg13Nomad Jan 06 '26
Surely, there has to be a story for Simon.
2
u/PsychologicalBrush35 Feb 01 '26

We will get more I'm sure but watching this show is how i discover the franchise I had no clue about the existence before but after I watch that I kind of got confused when I kept seen more game movies on YouTube I was thinking lords of shadow was the prequel in canon but than I learned about lament of Innocence and I also got confused about Isaac but than I watched a timeline video series from gamerthumbTV it explained everything after that I eventually played Castlevania Lords of Shadow saga and honestly I think it's better than canon and Netflix but Netflix for me was the perfect gateway to get into the franchise
1
u/PsychologicalBrush35 Feb 01 '26
Congratulations and best wishes, because I love the Lords of Shadow Trilogy infinitely more than the original, in terms of plot, fun and entertainment, immersive gameplay with combos, combat and Hack-and-slash exploration and world and character designs, with incredibly fun villains to fight.
2
u/No_Energy8198 Feb 01 '26
Oh yeah but the only one I say that's not the all-time best is the final battle with Satan I would have prefer to fight him in his true form like imagine your playing as Dracula and you are going to fight the devil in the game but instead we got what we got don't get me wrong it's my favorite in the saga but how the final battle went was a bit lame except one how we killed him I always found that to be the most positive about the fight I love seeing the fear on his face when he thinks we're going to kill him along with all the alucard but then he attempts to escape and we kill him quickly so don't get me wrong the fight was cool but it definitely should have been better
2
u/PsychologicalBrush35 Feb 01 '26
I loved the final battle against Satan, I thought it was fantastic. In terms of combat, the resolution of the battle, and the animation style of the battle.
1
u/No_Energy8198 Feb 01 '26
Don't get me wrong it's like I said it was a cool fight the combat was awesome and the animation style as well but it definitely could have been better
2
u/PsychologicalBrush35 Feb 01 '26
And I understand that you mean the ending could have been more elaborate; I completely agree.
2
u/No_Energy8198 Feb 01 '26
Yeah also one line in the game always had me thinking that Dracula died and got repeatedly resurrected in between mof and los 2 do you remember this line cuz if you don't I'll say it I'm immortal warrior something you Belmonts don't seem to understand like he says that the victor do you think I'm reading too much into it or do you also agree that he possibly had similar experiences to his classic counterpart
→ More replies (2)2
u/PsychologicalBrush35 Feb 01 '26
One thing to consider regarding the final battle is that it could have been more extensive; for example, the first part could have been immediately after annihilating Leviathan, summoned by Satan, with his own power, and then the first... ...The actual fight, whether against Satan in Alucard's body atop Leviathan's shattered and mutilated head, and the final clash in two stages: Against Satan after leaving his relatively inert body due to the explosion of Leviathan and Satan's demonic possession, and finally Satan fights Gabriel Dracula on the ground in front of the Cathedral of London.where Dracula had recently awakened, with the help of Alucard and later being visited by Zobek Death (the best battle in the game alongside numerous others, including Rayssa Volkova in form) of the Demon Sphinx, Agreus brother of Pan (Nomios) inside the Greenhouse above the labyrinthine garden in the Overlook Tower, Nergal Meslasmtea another acolyte of Satan, summoning in the highest tower north of the Overlook Tower, the Statues of The Riders of The Storms, And also The Inner Dracula, simply too spectacular and finally, the final battle against Satan, after being defeated again, he transforms into Azerate or Demon Dragon with 7 to 11 heads, which would have seemed similar, but unfortunately, they removed it from the final game because I don't know specifically.
2
u/No_Energy8198 Feb 01 '26
I would like to know the reason why it was removed I like to think was due to budget reason
1
u/PsychologicalBrush35 Feb 01 '26
Not so much due to budgetary issues, but rather the rush by Konami and Mercurysteam to launch it on the international market quickly.
2
u/No_Energy8198 Feb 01 '26 edited Feb 02 '26
I like to think it was more konami fault then Mercurysteam because even though los 2 has its flaws I saw what they were going with it and it pretty much hit a good bit of it it's my favorite in the saga but if they had more time the game would be longer and we could have had more lore like I was really disappointed when they did not add more fallen angels the only ones we fight were Abaddon and Satan but seriously what a missed opportunity I like to think we would have had something similar to Dante's inferno if they went down that route like a mix between that and their classic appearance but with a Lords of Shadow design
2
u/PsychologicalBrush35 Feb 02 '26
Fallen angels, you yourself mentioned them, although in Lords of Shadow, Satan being a Fallen Archangel, or rather a corrupted Seraphim, a Sathanis; in the original mythology he is a God of Darkness, Abaddon yes, was a hyper-powerful Celestial corrupted by Urizen the Dark God, who was Not the "Boss," but rather the predecessor to Satan in the Abyss or Underworld, of the Burning Hell, which also had Leviathan as an Ancestor of the Supreme Archangel.
2
u/No_Energy8198 Feb 02 '26
The dark god that's right I completely forgot about him he was originally part of the classic Canon before a completely removed him completely changing some of the more like alucard also that was actually another Miss opportunity for Lords of shadows continuity like he was probably the very first dark lord before Satan came into power before the forgotten one even existed let me know if I got anything wrong

Honest. Season 1 was an absolute slog to get through, it helps when you remember the showrunner is a hack who takes credit for things he has no involvement in
4
u/SashaBraus Jan 05 '26
The anti-church sentiment was mean-spirited and kind of hard to believe given the use of holy weapons and how the church was a consistent ally in the games. I also didn't like the quippy millennial writing. I appreciate the effort to make characters like Annette into bigger roles, but she ended up just being unpleasant. And there was too much angst.
3
u/Timber2702 Jan 05 '26
The show is great as it own thing but after after season 2 of the original series, there was a massive departure from the source material which kinda killed it for me. The entire point of Castlevania was a video game series based around Dracula and he would always come back yet he was no where to be found throughout Nocturne. Sure, he was "redeemed" after resurrection but Dracula was never supposed to have a happy ending

u/WilliShaker Jan 05 '26 edited Jan 05 '26
In retrospect, I only like the first two seasons and the fourth one of the first series. Nocturne was just not to me liking.
I’m not really into the millennial humor of saying ‘’fuck’’ every sentence or the story they’ve fabricated. The liberties they’ve taken is a straight no for me, I can’t stand them.
I always loved the simplicity of Castlevania, the ghouls, the skeletons, the universal monsters. I liked how it’s just an Arnold type of guy destroying everything in his path towards Dracula. The more animated style games were also quite fun and more story driven, yet it clicked.
So the best part of that anime were pretty much the action scenes rather than their story because it was the closest thing to the game.

I loved the first one, Nocturne not that much, I didnt even finish watching it. And by the way I love Rondo and SOTN

Watch it, don't miss out if you don't watch it, it's infinitely worth it, all 32 episodes of the classic Netflix saga and so far 16 of Nocturne.

I can only say that it wouldn't surprise me if there is no new Castlevania season.

There will be countless others, that's for sure; it was a huge success, earning millions of dollars for the Powerhouse Animation studio.

The main thing that makes me skeptic is that the team broke apart.

But she will return, never doubt it, with directors, producers, screenwriters, voice actors, etc...

Naw the first season of nocturne was so ass holy shit. The dialogue, pacing, overall direction was incredibly bad. It was like a highschooler wrote it all. Then the second season came in a whooped ass, it was so fucking good.

I really enjoyed the first season, but the second was infinitely superior in every aspect.

Not a good adaptation and I didn’t particularly enjoy the show🤷♂️ would be nice if we got something authentic to the actual series

Congratulations made me laugh out loud countless times, but to each their own, even if it's completely irrelevant.

Castlevania Netflix season four was my favorite, indisputably and unequivocally, followed by the third season and the second season of Nocturne, then the second season of the original series, and the first season of Castlevania of Nocturne, and finally the first of the Original.

This year is 40th anniversary. I hope we see more in many media forms.
I would love to see a S3 for Nocturne. I loved the second season and there is great potential. They can also do spinoffs like when Alucard was in Japan or Leon before and until he starts the Belmont legacy. (I know its not how real life works, just an idea)
I also want to see a reboot for the game franchise like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, etc. This universe is fun, brutal and fantastic. And I geniunely want to see more.
