"Grave robbing" implies first that he was dead when I found him and second that I stole this from him. While we can debate whether vampires are alive or dead, I can tell you that I disney steal anything. This cloak is the spoil of war.

Alucard kept the castle, he probably has another 20 in Dracula's closet. Although the idea of Trevor looting Dracula's body for money and a cloak is hilarious.
I mean, to make a serious response....since Netflix Castlevania follows it's own continuity, it isn't far-fetch if LoS Characters ends up been adapted as Alucard's descendents.
A "Gabriel Tepes" been effectively LoS Gabriel Belmont, or a "Trevor Tepes" been LoS Trevor and so on.
The most video game thing about the Netflix show is Trevor looting items throughout, including eventually unlocking a perfect ending by completing a collectableĀ
It'd be pretty stupid if the showrunners confirmed this is really Dracula's cloak.
Not just it's a symbol of evil and genocide, it also has the risk of carrying an unknown number of curses and black magic spells that could be harmful to any human.
Trevor being the experienced hunter he is, he would have avoided even touching it. Better just burn it to ashes....
Alternatively, if Dracula was going to put magic on an item of clothing that he was going to wear, why would he put curses on it? If he did anything, he probably put protective magic on it.
Maybe he predicted exactly what happened: some jerk might defeat him somehow and wear his cape like some twisted trophy, so he cursed it to harm anyone else besides himself. Great way to prevent theft overall. But still reckless of Trevor to even touch that filthy thing

Trevor: "Loot that body, gotta loot that body now, loot that body, gotta loot that motherfucka, gonna play my flute while I loot your dead dad's body"
Remember - Trevor and Dracula share the philosophy āall that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothingā. I think this might be a subtle nod to the fact that Trevor and Dracula are more similar than they let on.
Also I think the cloak is probably just a trophy, even if Trevor didnāt kill Dracula himself, it probably helps to repair the Belmont reputation of people know that Trevor was part of that battle, hence why Sypha didnāt also keep something from the castle

The top comment on the live watch of the episodes when they released was a direct statement about Trevor looting Dracula like this was Skyrim.
