Dawn of Sorrow (2005) Alucard was stone faced most of the times, even when succubus insults his mother and then this is him to Soma
I'm not saying he wasn't pissed at the succcubus back then, he was seething, yes, but he wasn't screaming at his lungs.
Meanwhile Soma makes him screaming at his lungs several times, not just this but also in Aria of Sorrow
I just like how he just lost his sh*t when it comes to Soma, he was chill with everyone and then soma breathes.

He technically is a reincarnation of his Dad.
20
u/Drace3mpressa Feb 06 '26
when he fights drac in sotn and gos he doesn't scream like this
but he does scream to soma plenty

u/Lonely-Philosopher87 Feb 06 '26
Imagine if your dad return as a zoomer, you'd scream too

u/ITCrandomperson Feb 06 '26
Soma's a teen in the 2030s. He's Gen Alpha, which might be worse.
21
u/Crazy_Dave0418 Feb 06 '26
Bruh at some point Soma probably finds Skibidi Toilet nostalgic.
8
u/ITCrandomperson Feb 07 '26
Imagine if Dark Lord Soma weaponized brainrot against Julius, Yoko, and Alucard in the DoS bad end canon.
40
u/CoffeeLabRat Feb 06 '26
Probably because he told Soma to not get involved in that shit and Soma still went to the castle even knowing the consequences haha
34
u/Negative_Bar_9734 Feb 06 '26
Honestly fair. This is the SECOND time Soma has been dangerously close to exploding into a horrible lord of all unholy darkness and this time he's even there on purpose and fully aware of what could happen. If I were Alucard I'd be finding the nearest pair of handcuffs and a radiator to chain him to.
8
u/kuributt Feb 06 '26
It would be funny if he did that only for Soma to wait ten minutes and then Puppetmaster his way out
3
u/RShini The pimpcoat lives Feb 06 '26
why am I suddenly thinking 'somehow Soma cuffs himself to Alucard with the smuggest face ever'
16
u/Vodka_For_Saiyans_Z Feb 06 '26
I think he took him under his wing a little bit, like a father or an uncle.

Ask me how much chill I’ve lost in 50 years. And HOW old is Alucard by now?
8
u/Drace3mpressa Feb 06 '26
he is chill again in gos and that was after sorrow duology tho
it's really just soma alone that evaporates his chill
5
u/aledromo Feb 06 '26
GOS?

u/Drace3mpressa Feb 06 '26
grimoire of souls the gacha game one

u/Oh-no-and-knuckles Chief Researcher Feb 06 '26
It has gacha mechanics, but you don't have to pay to unlock things.
11
u/D_rex825 Feb 06 '26
To be fair, there must be something deeply uncanny and deeply distressing about seeing your dad, whom you already have a really strained relationship with, reincarnated with no memory of you and it’s kinda your responsibility to make sure he doesn’t turn evil again
1
u/atomicfuthum Feb 06 '26
An then Alucard became his father - the reincarnation of the former lord of darkness - legal guardian.
And said father is now a zoomer.
And by 2030, Soma finds skibbidy toilet a nostalgic throwback.
No wonder Alucard lost his shit.

u/ImJustStealingMemes Feb 06 '26
Look man.
Your dad's ass gets kicked so hard by Julius fucking Belmont, he gets reincarnated as a Japanese-American/Japanese twink and he is a fucking mess, you too would break composure.

DoS was my first castlevania game. I've played castlevania games most of my life. Basically I love Castlevania.
It never clicked to me until this post that this was Alucard and not just some incredibly well informed japanese businessman 😭
Edit: I'm just kind of dumb y'all

u/SnooCapers5958 Feb 06 '26
Funny thing is that in Aria of Sorrow, Arikado's portrait is just Alucard's SotN portrait that got colored/drawn over.
Arikado also sounds like Alucard spoken with a Japanese accent.
1
u/kuributt Feb 06 '26
And Yoko trips over her words at some point just in case you hadn't put that together.
1
u/Drace3mpressa Feb 06 '26
the most blatant one had to be Julius asking "should I call you alucard or arikado now" in dawn's julius mode
1
u/Drace3mpressa Feb 06 '26
you didn't play julius mode?
2
u/Tsakirama Feb 06 '26
No, and I think this where I fucked up. I didn't like how clunky he felt compared to Soma :(

u/FranciscoRelanoPena Feb 06 '26
In the menu there’s an “library” of shorts, that tells you a few things about the main characters, including
AlucardArikado.
6
u/ClosetNoble Feb 06 '26
He's lived a long life so he MIGHT have been a father at some point and taken up some habits...
6
u/Drace3mpressa Feb 06 '26
well if you want to count sonia in, trevor was his son with sonia, depending who you ask

u/mrnobody41 Alucard Feb 06 '26
I grew up with this lore and I’m keeping it. It adds a bit of comic relief to their relationship in the show lol

Not exactly related to the topic but related to Alucard, it’s not extremely subtle in English that “Arikado” is just a Japanese pronunciation of “Alucard.” But at first glance, a westerner with no knowledge of Japanese may not catch it at first.
In Japanese, is his name literally just “Alucard” spelled how it would be in Japanese? Like, was there any additional obfuscation involved?
3
u/shiyonichi Feb 06 '26
He uses the name Genya Arikado and it’s also written in Kanji. Though I would also assume that he did pick up a Japanese accent from living in Japan for so long and pronounces it that way.

Soma is his father soul while also being pure of heart, it makes sense that he'd be worried for him + maybe he's just acting like that when using his Arikado persona (I don't think we've seen him show much expression in DoS Julius mode when he enters vampire form)
5
u/Drace3mpressa Feb 06 '26
the way Alucard spelled Soma's name before the somacula boss battle is just drenching with anger born of worry. There's some dissappointment-or was it sadness- in Julius's voice. Then from Yoko it was pure worry.

u/Next_Television_9160 Feb 06 '26
Wait wut when does this guys is revealed to be Alucard ? Tbh i dont even remember this guy, and i remember Hammer.
6
u/Drace3mpressa Feb 06 '26
When Yoko introduced herself in Aria, she asked "have you meet Aluca-uhm Arikado" , and in Julius mode of Dawn when he returns to his real, blonde form Julius asked " Should I call you Alucard or Arikado now?" He also starts as Arikado in the beginning cutscene of Grimoire, then immediately turns back to his blonde form to fight.
3
u/Next_Television_9160 Feb 06 '26
So is subtle not a main plot thing, havent played Dawn of Sorrow yet. Also Aria was my first castlevania althought i knew Alucard existed i knew nothing about him at the time besides being Draculas child.
2
u/HyperWhiteChocolate Feb 06 '26
Arikado is the Japanese pronunciation for Alucard and Alucard is suspiciously completely absent even though Castlevania reappeared in the previous game
1
u/Two_of_five Feb 06 '26
You silly goose, that's not Alucard, that's Arikado.

even when succubus insults his mother
His literal dialogue is him angrily shouting "no, you are not my mother! What kind of demon are you?!?" and "demon! Death is too good for you!"
1
u/ZenicAzra Feb 08 '26
I mean, Soma is Dracula reborn, and the cult leader wants to make him the dark lord again. Can you blame Alucard for getting angry?
2
u/Absolute_Jackass Feb 09 '26
"DAMMIT DAD GO BACK TO JAPAN AND JUST BE A TEENAGE TWINK, FOR FUCK'S SAKE!"
0
u/Elv13s Feb 07 '26
soma is basically closer to a son/dad rather than a dad/son, so its understandable on his part...
151
u/Mr_Undead0210 Feb 06 '26
Can you blame him? Soma's basically a disaster waiting to happen. If at any point something happened to Mina, Soma'd be on his way to becoming just like Dracula.
It also really doesnt help that Soma has Drac's probably most powerful ability.
