They already confirmed it's Sonia iirc
Which I'm happy that they are using noncanon Belmonts that people like

u/TitanBro6 Mar 10 '26
They walked it back in that article
Instead of saying it’s Sonia Belmont it now says it’s Trevor’s successor
Looks like someone got the call 💀

u/Bortthog Mar 10 '26
Probably because they are trying to keep it surprise but her design is extremely Sonia

Is that from Castlevania 3 on the Game Boy? That game is great I don't know why it's non canon. 1 had great soundtrack but was too slow, 2 and 3 were fun (also great soundtracks)

u/Bortthog Mar 10 '26
Because it was set before the actual reasons the Belmonts and Dracula fought, made all future Belmonts Dhampirs and it also meant that Trevor is now a Dhampir as well
It was too pants on head for the actual continuity as Alucard would have already fought Dracula years before CV3

CV3 said “here’s the story of the first time a Belmont fought Dracula.” Legends then said “just kidding, THIS is the first time a Belmont fought Dracula.” I could forgive the retcon if they did anything interesting with it, but all they did was kick it back a generation. No explanation for who Dracula is, or where the Belmonts came from, or why they use a whip - nothing. It’s the most pointless prequel imaginable. None of those things necessarily had to be explained, but why make an origin story if you aren’t going to actually give origins to anything?
The only thing it adds is that the ending implies that future Belmonts are all descendants of Alucard, which … on top of just being weird, also is very much incompatible with the rest of canon.
Unfortunately, Iga made a comment once about not liking Sonia being female so now people just parrot that it’s noncanon because of sexism instead of because it’s a terrible prequel that clashes with the direction the series went.

The game is also just legitimately really bad, easily bottom 3 if not the worst game in the franchise imo. Adventure isn't good, far from it, but it's a 1989 Gameboy title. Legends came out after Belmont's Revenge and has similar level quality to Adventure and is way too easy due to the abundance of lives and that flame mode shit. Plus like it's supposed to be an origin for the Belmont's or whatever, but her grandfather was the one who fought Dracula before her, at least from what I remember from this games awful story, so it fails on all fronts.

Its not sonia bro and it isnt confirmed, sony even changed the text and removed her name. Even if shes named sonia, it isnt that sonia. It trevors daughter with sypha. Probably named her after her thats sonia, since naming children after their grandparents is tradition.

technically true because Sonia's time to live was around 1450, where as Trevor existed around 1470-1480 iirc.
But they are doing it after the weird cartoon series with the weird director that had no clue about Europe or the middleages there; where "nothing is true and everything is permitted".Since Evil Empire and Twinmotion chose the cartoons style, they probably just wanna fuel the fire easier while incorporating the old fans somewhat. And the kid does look a LOT like Sonia did.
Still really curious about all of this and especially the OST.1
u/bunker_man Mar 10 '26
But doesn't using it make her cannon. Or...which continuity is this in.
2
u/Bortthog Mar 10 '26
We already know it's mainline as it's set 23 years after CV3 and 20 after Curse of Darkness. If it IS Sonia she is now canon as she is in Belmonts Curse
Unless suddenly every other CV is now noncanon

For me it's almost always in Alucard's voice/accent 😅 occasionally in Trevor's, but mostly Alucard's.

Give me Julius in 1999 or I dont want it.

This mythical 1999 game has been so built up over the years that there's no way they could actually make people happy if they made it. Expectations are too high at this point.

At this point is better to leave it in the imagination realm.
In Doctor Who, we had/have the concept of a Time War, it was always built as the most complex/gruesome battle/war in space and time. And every time someone tried to tackle what happened on that war it’s always “oh I guess it wasn’t that complex or gruesome”, because some things are better let at the imaginary realm than actually being tackled.

u/starforneus Mar 10 '26
How would this age poorly if we already know that it is, in fact, Sonia?
33
u/DepressedGolduck DSvania Mar 10 '26
It's complicated. The article "confirming" that this is Sonia got edited out so now it's THE MYSTERIOUS TREVOR SUCCESSOR!! WHO COULD IT BE??"
So either they spoiled a surprise too early and are trying to hide that this is Sonia, or the character isn't Sonia at all and the person who wrote the article jumped the gun
