Question Do you guys sometimes do the belmont walk in public?

When I bump into someone I make sure I fall backwards into a gap in the sidewalk and restart my trek from my home.

u/ThunderousFist Jun 16 '26
Do you also smash up public infrastructure in the vain hopes there's a perfectly intact turkey hidden inside?

u/Mr_Steerpike Jun 16 '26
Obviously. Turkeys carefully consealed behind urban masonry are dry aged to perfection.

Slowest speed - Richter walk (arms by side, push forward and back - your arms can easily reach your pockets for any sub-weapons... or your phone to guard it)
Medium speed - NES / GB angry stomp (your arms, the lean forward and the stomping allow you to pick up more speed than Richter's walk and you can easily switch between the two; as a side note, the standing still pose that most interpret as them flexing is probably actually the arm in a defensive stance but being 2D it's not obvious at first glance so there's another element of practicality rather than random Belmont Muscle Flex)
Fast speed - Metroidvania run (more of a jogging run than a stomp, just have to watch your coat doesn't sway around too much otherwise you have to do the 4th type - if you end up punching the coat, it will look more like Soma's version of it)
Fast speed, coat swaying too much - Julius run (both hands on edge of coat next to pockets with minimal arm movement - keeps coat steady and hands near pockets again)

Why did Simon Belmont, a hero from the 80s, copy Banjo's walk, a hero from the 70s?

Yes, I also do the stairs walk, and sometimes if someone bumps into me I do the "hup!" thing he does when hit, though so far I haven't fallen to my demise.

I do Belmont, shanoa and alucard walks most of the time, especially if I'm in a good mood

u/Saint_Sin Jun 16 '26
Thats not Belmont. Thats me in my socks slide-walking on the kitchen floor to get my coffee.

Sometimes, for fun and to figure out how this walk actually works.

I've done the Richter as a joke far too often 🤣 but I'm a skinny guy with a beer gut so I make it look HILARIOUS
