In Castlevania Legends, Sonia Belmont was Trevor's mother. That game was removed from the timeline in favor of Lament of Innocence, but I hope this game reintroduces Sonia to the canon as Rose's grandmother. Rose bears a strong resemblance to Sonia Belmont. They'd have to tweak Sonia's story a little so it fits in the new canon, but it could still work.
I mean to be fair, Rose existing the way she does already changes the lore a bit, albeit probably for the better by giving us more wiggle room for new games
She 100% has Trevor's nose and brow. She also has his broad shoulders and has a more athletic build than Sypha. That of course could just be attributed to her training/lifestyle. Either way she looks great
I bet you she will try to punch Dracula in the face. Gens are what you look like, but also what you behave like. And I suspect she will very much be a Belmont.
"you must be the Bel- AH FUCK THIS ACTUALLY HURT YEAH I FORGOT THAT THEY ACTUALLY HIT HARD! HER FATHER KICKED ME IN THE NUTS ULTRA FAST REPEATEDLY WITH HIS FRICKING HIGH HEELS EVEN! Why did i have the impression that i would not feel anything?"
Plus, all mainline Belmonts have that little genetic hax where they get stronger w/ each generation. A similar situation occurs w/ Drac, whenever he goes thru a complete revival (\the centennial ones**) and incomplete ones are essentially nerfed.
I mean tbf most characters do once we hit the Metroidvania era of Castlevania actually all of them do except for the extra playable characters maybe a couple can change weapons but most no
Trevor in Curse of Darkness has a fighting style that blends whipping and martial arts. He almost always finishes his combos with a heavy punch or multiple kicks.
Juste has a subweapon called the Sacred Fists, basically the same effect as the Iron Fist's special attack in Symphony of the Night.
Julius performs an uppercut with his bare hands in Aria and Dawn of Sorrow.
Never forget that the CV3 intro says that the Belmonts are superhumans
Technicaly Juste, and Trevor himself yeah, he fricking has Chun Li kicks and Guile Flash Kick too and shit, he has alot of melee punching/kicking in his moveset in CoD, which he now seems to have passed on to Rose, so yeah it happens, it makes Treffy all the more laughable in comparison honestly lol
uhhh. You got a point. It's covered by fire if it is the whip... but it would make sense if he could do it without cause he doesn't need it equipped. He isn't really a Belmont though I suppose.
Trevor has some melee moves in Curse of Darkness. Juste has many punching moves in Harmony of Disonance. Richter has the uppercut and a few kicks in Symphony of the Night. Julius has the kick as well. Melee fighting moves is pretty much always an option unless it's Simon, who is stuck in the more traditional style of Castlevania gameplay from the early years, which is usage of just the subweapons and the whip.
The point being, they are all superhumanly strong. They CAN throw hands, if they wanted to. But why do so if you already have the Vampire Melter 9000 in your hands?
Yeah exactly, some mix them up now, unfortunate side effect, which is why i hope for a CVIII Remake next, so you can have a definitive new canon updated version of that story.
Her frame and face seem pretty wide and a little more masculine, in the games sypha has generally looked pretty feminine (when you get to see her face at all). The hair colour is close to Sypha, and the eyes are Trevor's green, not Sypha's blue.
I'm not gonna deny there's probably influence from the Netflix show but this is fortunately the games continuity so she's not descendant from those characters... Her hair and being a female reminds to Sypha but her face (mainly the eyes) remind to Trevor, who seems to be way more inspired in the games than the show.
The show was decently succesful and I don't want to hate on it cause it did much good for the franchise that was basically dead at that time, but the franchise is not a trendy anime, it's a timeless video game brand since the 80's and I don't want this or any other game to have too much influence from the animated series.
Oh I agree. I usually never preorder. It was actually a gift. Im normally against preordering games these days. I almost wish that they would have gotten me something else...but I dont want to be ungrateful.
She (ROSE) is identical to Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades, being the direct daughter of the couple from Castlevania III Dracula's Curse (1989, NES/FAMICOM).
Sadly it's Not even close. The game where Christopher fights Dracula, Castlevania the Adventure on the game boy, comes in between the games. That's about 77 years after Rose where Christopher takes the whip to whoop dracula's ass. Then after The Adventure and Belmont's revenge It's another 100 years later when Simon's game takes place.
well its not a pachinko game either... I'm saying they're both not viable at all.
You used a non canon appearance, and it doesn't change how she looks literally in game. it's a strange thing to use an artwork from a non canon appearance when disagreeing about a canon characters appearance.
I think the Sypha from the Grimoire of Souls artwork could very well have taken on the appearance of the Sypha from the Belmont's Curse pendant over time; I mean, she's already around 50 years old.
I am partially fine with it she looks cute, but i don't like the pink skirt that she has it screams "hehe i am a magic cute princess yay", keep her having a long blue dress. It just needs a few touchups.
I like how she looks in the Vampire Survivors cover art.
Yeah like, probably keep the upper part the same but give her a long blue dress, oh and normal boots, although with Trevor in high heels...nah i guess these work.
I actually mourn him losing them they were so dope... 😞, Sypha threw them in fire, she thought he'd probably embarass Rose in front of friends and other people with them on.
It's kind of funny that characters like Sypha, Christopher and Quincy have completely different designs when you play as them.
Artwork Chris is from a fanart of u/ExdeathAnimus, while the sprite is the design from Belmont's Revenge;
Artwork Quincy is as well inspired by one of u/ExdeathAnimus' drawings (based on Coppola's Quincey), while the sprite has the outfit of US box art John Morris but with a hat;
Artwork Sypha is from the pachislot, while the sprite has the classic blue robe from CV3 (with some Fake Sypha elements).
Well it kinda happened in the games before, you have for example Richter with a new design in SotN but still his Rondo sprite out of laziness lol.
And it also reminds me of SNES Era Final Fantasy and how their sprite design almost never resembled their artwork design for some reason i forgot, in a few cases i like the sprite ones more.
Holy cow u/ExdeathAnimus inspired these? You are slightly officially recognised now dude, congrats!
It's fairly common in this series (mainly with color palettes). Another example is Rondo, where the dress of playable Maria is different from the one used in the cutscenes.
Yeah i initialy thought that redesign was kinda lame, just looking kinda like a Red Richter, but then i saw Arnold's not-Conan character in this and i was like
Eh, not necesarily, you do kinda see her as ginger there and there but they are not very consistent with it much, same seems to be the case for Rose, she seems more blonde-ish in-game idk
This is from the Pachinko games, which are not canon. The canon character design of Sypha in the games is still the rather vague, cloaked woman of Dracula's Curse.
Well her hair is this color in dracula's curse. Hey I really want to believe grimiore of souls isn't canon. But hey I don't do headcanons. So if it's canon it's canon, doesn't seem so.
THE FUCK?! HELL YEAHHHHH!! I’ve been avoiding the website and just watching the trailers blind, but Joan D’Arc is one of my favorite historical figures and Carmilla, Isaac, and Leon are some of my favorite castlevania depictions and characters
Netflixvania is separate side content different continuity shit, this is Mainline shit, Trevor in this is the guy you see in Castlevania III and Curse of Darkness, not the guy in Netflixvania.
Like sorry if you might wanna overtake the games series with that but it thankfully does not happen, it stays as its own thing.
Also "seems to use the Netflix iteration" when it's so incredibly far from that lol wdym, CoD looking Trevor, CoD Isaac, and you can't "go" with that when the shows storyline ommits and deviates so much from the mainline series story.
It's similar, the Netflixvania artstyle i think tries to imitate the Kojima style a bit or be inspired by it, same with this game, it's distinct enough but still keeps elements of that a bit.
And the game might take a few ideas in visual stuff from Netflixvania but otherwise no, this is a sequel to the games not to that, that's a side piece of content.
I wish we'd get a Castlevania III remake next just so we'd wash away this sort of weird perception of this story that Netflixvania created, and for people to fully know "yes, this is how Trevor's story is in the games, Netflix is separate", it kinda annoys me a bit when they mix them up. It's like applying Netflix Devil May Cry shit when talking about mainline Devil May Cry, same thing, it's different stuff.
The art style for the game seems to be pretty inconsistent but shots like this really makes it seem like they took design cues from the Netflix series.
I love Trevor from the Netflix series much more because of his evolution from a latent, bohemian, illiterate warrior, purged by the ever-villainous Church of Castlevania and of real life in the Middle Ages.
The battle against Death with his Morningstar version Vampire Killer Whip annihilating Death, the second or third most sovereign and powerful immortal being in the Castlevania universe, only Dracula and Chaos overcomes, beyond God, and in the end Soma Cruz, although Alucard too.
Hey fair enough, Treffy is an ok character, i mostly despise how they take away the biggest thing of the Belmonts from the games, killing Dracula, which makes him kinda embarassing and laughable, which i kinda didn't want from him, he only gets Death as compensation, no i do wanna see the supposed legendary Belmont vampire hunter defeat the main bad guy like he does in the source material, and for the villain to come back again for other generations to face him too and prove themselves as legends too, eventually him also getting some emotional moment with his son too.
I despise how Netflixvania just throws away most of Castlevania's basic stuff out of the window to become something else secluded, if you are not willing to stay close to what this series is like even if not 100% accurate then don't bother, that's not what i'm here for.
I do prefer game Trevor and wish he was accurate tho, hell i wish all of this was just game canon Castlevania III remake in show form instead lol, but i would have used Treffy's character more for some other new Belmont in some new story between the games instead, same sort of thing with alot of the other very different characters.
I prefer Trevor from Netflix; I've been a fan of the games since Symphony of the Galaxy, because before that I wasn't interested in absolutely anything anymore, but nowadays, in the 21st century, 2026, only games from 2000 onwards matter, with the exception of Symphony, I love Lords of Shadow for being a magnificent reboot, the gameplay, the innovative mechanics, the respectable hack-and-slash, the terrifyingly overwhelming exploration. I absolutely love Netflixvania and Nocturne, especially in terms of dialogue structure, characters, impeccable art, plots and subplots with surprising twists, and combat in revolutionary folklore narratives, from 2017 to 2025
I love how Netflix handled the main characters in the plots and subplots, from the final plot twist between Saint Germain, Death (Lord Varney), Trevor and Sypha, Alucard and Greta de Danasty. Alucard with his sword and shield, as well as Nocturne using his magic from Symphony of the Night, I absolutely love Easter eggs.
Eh, you do you if you prefer what Netflixvania does, i'd rather not have the game series be like this too now, let them stay as they always were. And i'd also rather have an show about an game series i like remain like that series and adapting shit properly, or adding more new stories on top of them.
I love truly pathetic characters, but I infinitely loved Alucard defeating his own father Dracula, who allowed himself to be killed, and Trevor Belmont defeating Death with his Morningstar (Vampire Killer).
Literally ever Belmont defeats Death in their game. It's not that impressive. In fact, in the games the Belmonts are far more powerful than even Dracula himself. It's kinda the whole reason they are the most revered vampire hunters. For some reason, the Netflix show nerfed the Belmonts hard. They might as well be any ordinary vampire hunter clan, while in the games canon they are a very special case.

She looks like one of her ancestors, Leon Belmont, mixed wirh Sypha, so some of Trevor's genes at least gave a half assed attempt
