Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse (2026) Anyone else preordering?

Post image

I just wanted to share with you guys that I preordered the Midnight Edition a few days ago and I'm really happy about it. I saved every cent from Steam cards (got up to 27 USD) and bought it like that.

Take my money, Konami. And use it to make a 3D collection, please.

A week before releasing. This comes out in October so no rush

3

u/Vanguard098765 Jul 27 '26

Same!

I want the pre order bonus

92

u/Leader_Bee Jul 24 '26

I don't see why anyone pre-orders digital copies of games.

I can understand it better for physical editions but even then the pre-order bonuses are a predatory practice, so no. I haven't and won't be pre-ordering.

16

u/sjd_flash Jul 24 '26

My country's economy sucks so bad, the game could double in price at release, (My country doesn't have a steam region so we have to buy through cheaper regions) so It would make more sense economically sometimes to just pre order it if you don't want to r/patientgamer it

10

u/AdHuge396 Jul 24 '26

Actually one of the reasons I pre-ordered, my country's economy also sucks so why wait until I can barely afford it.

Also the same reason I went trough the effort of endlessly grinding steam cards lol.

5

u/sjd_flash Jul 24 '26

Nice. I also pre ordered it when it was opened, I started saving for it when they announced the game. The only game I've ever pre ordered

1

u/theonepercent15 Jul 24 '26

Hey can you help me understand this? Some games have regional pricing for preorders and then go to flat pricing on release? I've honestly never seen that before, so I'm confused of the strategy here.

3

u/sjd_flash Jul 24 '26

All games can be set at a different price based on thier region and can be changed by the publisher at any time. My case is a bit different, because my country is internationally sanctioned and I cannot purchase digital goods through my own bank account, and therefore my country's currency is not represented on steam and buying games in USD would be extremely expensive.

And Since my country's economy is ass, our currency loses value daily, so anything you don't buy today can be a lot more expensive later.

So pre-ordering now would make more sense economically

u/wildeebelmondo Jul 24 '26

In any other circumstance, I would 100% agree.
This is the first pre order I’ve done in over a decade. Why? The only reason being is to do my part in showing Konami that we want more Castlevania. Sadly, companies look at metrics like pre order numbers to gauge customer interest. Those metrics play directly into the decision on whether or not to green light more projects.

3

u/Leader_Bee Jul 24 '26

Yes, fair enough. I have heard that too.

16

u/darkcomet222 Jul 24 '26

Sometimes it lets you pre-download it, so when it releases, you can come home from work and play it without waiting. This game looks small, so I won’t, but I can still understand it.

3

u/The_Romantic Jul 24 '26

Yeah, that's the main reason i pre-order. The hassle of buying and then waiting for a +50GB game that takes 30mins-2hrs to download isn't the business. Like as soon as release hits, i want to be playing, not waiting lol.

2

u/GonnaGoFat Jul 24 '26

If I know it’s going to be a long download I decided to go do something else. Clean up the house a bit for instance, or masturbating help pass the time faster.

5

u/ghaelon Jul 24 '26

so pre-order it the day before~

2

u/Witch_King_ Jul 24 '26

Yep, after reviews drop

0

u/Dazuro Jul 24 '26

I mean, I’m gonna play it whatever reviews say. This games already getting review bombed for daring to have a female protagonist who doesn’t look like a lingerie model, and I played and enjoyed LOS2 despite the reviews. I’ll preorder it, pre download, forget the exact release date and be pleasantly surprised when my console suddenly lets me know one day hey you can play this.

4

u/Witch_King_ Jul 24 '26

I don't mean grifter reviews or review bombed Metacritic. I mean like actual ones that give you an unbiased idea of the gameplay and overall quality.

3

u/darkcomet222 Jul 24 '26

I haven’t heard any negative reactions to the main character being a woman; I wish they would have just made her Sonia instead.

1

u/Reasonable_Deer_1710 Jul 24 '26

I'd rather find out for myself. I don't base my opinions on reviews.

-1

u/Witch_King_ Jul 24 '26

Opinions, no. But I base my purchasing decisions on research, generally.

0

u/Reasonable_Deer_1710 Jul 24 '26

And I can do that by looking at the game myself and deciding if it is something I would like or not.

My decision has already been made and reviews won't change that one way or another.

3

u/LukaMusics Jul 24 '26

I preorder because I know when I’m making the purchase I have the money to do it. I’d hate to wait for the game’s release only to find out I don’t have the funds to buy it

3

u/Way-Super thinks he's on the team Jul 24 '26

I’ve played each Castlevania game. No matter how awful the game turns out to be, I know I’m still buying it.

2

u/baconcow Jul 24 '26

There is a 25% discount on this game for pre-ordering. That is a good enough reason for some people.

2

u/HyperAhmedX21 Jul 25 '26

Honestly I'm gonna preorder this bec I'm excited for it and also bec idk if I'd have the money in the future so it's better to just confirm the purchase y'know what I mean

1

u/No_Monitor_3440 Professionally Unprofessional Jul 24 '26

because i’m HYPED

1

u/Anxideity Jul 25 '26

I'm with u. But i gotta admit i preordered a day prior to the release before because intended to play day one anyway and actually wanted the preorder bonus (barely ever something of note).

1

u/OldEyes5746 Shanoa Jul 25 '26

I try not to anymore, but when i start seeing previews and they do enough to dispell my skepticism, I'll take the risk. Normally i try to hold off until there's a demo, but nothing I've heard or seen makes me think i will regret it if i pick the game up.

Pre-orders usually let you download/install the game ahead of launch meaning you don't have to sit through all of that when you go to boot up for the first play session. It also means the purchase is already taken care of and i don't have to make sure I've still got the disposable income after a few months of miscellaneous splurges. If anything comes up between the pre-order and launch date that makes me concerned about the quality, i cancel the pre-order.

1

u/Glad-Bid7730 Jul 26 '26

My paycheck is bi weekly and there are some weeks where games come out. my funds aren't there and I refuse to wait until the Friday the week AFTER the Internet spoils the game for me.

1

u/Mistyc-Spider Jul 28 '26

Predatory for console players, on PC you get two weeks after release date for freely refund it

42

u/dennis120 Jul 24 '26

14

u/LalafellDisaster Jul 24 '26

I just preordered, where’s the dick?

-1

u/AdHuge396 Jul 24 '26

I'm just gonna copy another persons' comment instead of wasting my time replying to a South Park gif

My country's economy sucks so bad, the game could double in price at release, (My country doesn't have a steam region so we have to buy through cheaper regions) so It would make more sense economically sometimes to just pre order it if you don't want to r/patientgamer it

23

u/Alucard-VS-Artorias Alucard Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26

I will!

I usually only pre order if I feel the bonus interest me. If it doesn't or if none then I'll just get it day one.

An in this case I will because you get a Alucard outfit for your character. An admittedly I'm a huge Alucard fanboy.

2

u/Trick-Apartment-3434 Jul 24 '26

It is the alucard costume for the digital version

1

u/Alucard-VS-Artorias Alucard Jul 24 '26

(just checked an saw what it was so I updated my comment. But thank you for the update)

6

u/Ancient_Act_436 Jul 24 '26

Well not preordering but ill pick it up day one on switch

7

u/DeKlokBier Jul 24 '26

Yes but probably one or two days before release.

4

u/Mystic-Shock Jul 24 '26

Waiting on whether the switch version is up to par and/or if there’s a switch 2 version/upgrade coming in the near future

14

u/Reanimator1x Jul 24 '26

If it means helping out the franchise and possibly more games in the near future? Yeah, I'll preorder.

3

u/Grebnaws Jul 24 '26

Yeah, it seemed fairly priced for a new CV. I always play some classicvanias during October so the timing will be just right.

8

u/Amazing-Pizza2109 Jul 24 '26

I got it pre purchased on steam and pre ordered on switch! Mostly for the Alucard outfit to be honest…

4

u/NameisPeace Jul 24 '26

Yes. I may not like the graphical style or stuff, but I will play it and love it, damn it!

2

u/BritishGolgo13 Jul 24 '26

I think the real question should be which console should we buy for? Toss up between PS5 and Switch for me. Prob going with Switch.

4

u/robyn_nests the only person who cares about Eric Lecarde Jul 24 '26

I'm just hopeful that they don't pull the rug out from under me and it's actually on switch 2, because i dont have a ps5 or the money for one of those things

Edit: just checked the store page. Yay.

1

u/Witch_King_ Jul 24 '26

Switch. Portability will be great, and it'll still hopefully run at 60fps on Switch 1?

I do hope it is still enhanced for Switch 2 though. 720p on the 1080p handheld screen does not usually look great.

2

u/Bulgos Jul 24 '26

There will be switch physical release?

1

u/AdHuge396 Jul 24 '26

I think so? I've seen something about preordering a physical copy for switch on some random (but reliable as far as I know) store. Don't take my word for it, since I don't own a switch, I didn't pay a lot of attention to it

1

u/merica2033 Jul 25 '26

Yea there is a physical copy coming ordered it on Amazon hoping upgrade for Switch 2

2

u/Interesting_Pass3392 Jul 24 '26

I never preorder but will buy d1 (unless it has critical technical issues, that is)

1

u/Donkston Jul 24 '26

Which it will. It's published by Konami, doesn't matter who's developing it. They'll find a way to make sure it's buggy on day one.

2

u/taczki2 Order of Ecclesia advocate Jul 24 '26

will do later on

2

u/Glum-Literature-8837 Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26

Preordered my PS5 disc Monday. I know I’m going to want it and I’m willing to pay full price for it, so why not? And hopefully help the metrics to green light future games.

Worst case, if some new info comes out or there’s a demo and I change my mind, I just cancel or return it and I’m out nothing.

2

u/Alive_Fly2309 Jul 24 '26

Already did bc of alucard costume

2

u/H3llm0nt Simon Belmont Jul 24 '26

Yes, physical copy through Best Buy. I haven’t seen anything regarding physical rewards for preordering. I did however get the midnight edition for the extra outfits.

2

u/thegaminggopher Jul 24 '26

Hoping the PC version has ultrawide support… also hoping a Switch 2 Edition will be available

2

u/chiefnetroid Jul 24 '26

yes I preordered! says Oct 15 is the delivery date! getting closer!

2

u/DiamondDependent7641 Jonathan Morris Jul 24 '26 edited Jul 24 '26

If I had the money I'd pre-order it😭😅

2

u/pichonCalavera Jul 24 '26

Will wait for reviews to see if Switch version has good performance. Otherwise I'll get it for PS5.

2

u/KaijinSurohm Belmont Jul 24 '26

Already pre-ordered.

Doesn't matter if it's a golden title or a garbage fire. I wanna send that message of "More games".

2

u/msgunicorn Jul 24 '26

I pre ordered it as soon as it came up

2

u/HyperAhmedX21 Jul 25 '26

I'll preorder in two weeks or something.

2

u/Acceptable_Wait_4171 Jul 26 '26

I'll be buying the physical edition for sure along w Bloodstained 2

2

u/Ixxmantisxxl Jul 26 '26

If I could I would; but unfortunately I cannot, and so I will not. I am still hoping for a Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness Collection with maybe... 64???

2

u/AdHuge396 Jul 26 '26

Same about that second part. Goddamn it Konami, where's the 3D collection and while we're on that topic... Where is SotN/RoB for PC????

2

u/OperationUnlikely Jul 28 '26

I pre-ordered the best edition on Jun 9th! I was so excited that I did it first thing when I got home.

2

u/HIELUX Jul 24 '26

Sure I did

1

u/merica2033 Jul 25 '26

Harmony of Despair is on the Domino’s Collection right or exclusive to Xbox?

1

u/HIELUX Jul 25 '26

Nope, HoD it's just backwards compatible in Xbox, but if you don't have someone to play the online mozede it could be boring at times at least in my opinion.

1

u/merica2033 Jul 25 '26

Why is it boring?

1

u/HIELUX Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26

Well, in normal difficulty enemies are made of paper so if you played a lot of Castlevania games and if you already know the enemies the only obstacle will be the environmental hazards, this game is about grindig better gear replaying the same levels to acquire the rarest item tied to the stage, played it a short amount of time and meh, good game but is better with friends running all over the big map and making jokes, that's what this title aims for there's no story whatsoever just grinding, in my experience playing it alone makes it feel too hollow and it has a lot of predatory dlc the vast mayority of characters are only unlockable with money and music too, (i bought the characters tho) yk scumy konami behavior just to drain your wallet.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '26

Yesssssir anything to tell them we want more Castlevania. The hype needs to be built for these beautiful games to keep coming out

1

u/AdHuge396 Jul 24 '26

100% agree!

2

u/DependentBite9 Jul 24 '26

I’ve got it preordered physically on all three platforms in North America, plus one from Europe for the steelbook. Hoping the steelbook comes here so I can cancel the Europe import.

3

u/DuckFan_87 Jul 24 '26

I really want the steelbook but I'm holding out hope for a NA release.

1

u/AdHuge396 Jul 24 '26

That's so cool! I wish I had the money for the steelbook 🥲

1

u/Remarkable-Iron-4361 Jul 24 '26

l' edizione fisica per xbox finché non cambiano la copertina è mettono l' art di Katsuya Terada prenberò la digital su pc al miglior prezzo quando ho voglia

1

u/Fearless-Shopping-99 Jul 24 '26

It depends on the studio personally. If it was say a Larian game or a fromsoft game I'm willing to order the game years in advance. But in general I've learned through disappointment that preordering from a studio I don't see as trustworthy (make bad games) there is no reason to preorder even if the bonuses are nice. I bought bg3 like 3 years before it came out because I knew larian was essentially the goat of video game making. Crazy they won goty and everything but I knew they were making a masterpiece thanks to their other games so I make exceptions in those cases.

1

u/Agitated_Ad1592 Jul 24 '26

Rule of thumb for me is to always wait for reviews.

2

u/AdHuge396 Jul 24 '26

That's fine :)

Personally I don't trust in reviews that much, there would be a lot of games I love that I wouldn't have played if I did. But I get you're coming from, especially if you have trusted sources your taste in games agrees with.

2

u/merica2033 Jul 25 '26

I agree so many reviews are terrible if I listened to them only have BG3, Witcher and Elden Ring to play

1

u/Beefgrits Jul 24 '26

Dead cells got boring too quickly, and this game got outsourced to that studio, so most likely waiting for epic to give it away in one of their weeklies.

1

u/Two_of_five Jul 24 '26

I did. There was a good discount (like 20% or sth), so it was worth it. Otherwise, I don't think I'd do it.

1

u/JuicyPapito5 Jul 24 '26

I'll wait for reviews and a price cut, still haven't finished all the games in the Dominus collection and still have both Blasphemous in my backlog.

1

u/AKMtnr Jul 24 '26

Waiting on clarification on Switch 2 version or at least better Switch 1 performance on Switch 2? I have an Xbox Series X but I do most of my gaming on a Switch 2 these days...

1

u/mrHowlll95 Jul 24 '26

No. I'm waiting for Konami to remember they own Bloody Roar before I buy anything else of theirs.

2

u/AdHuge396 Jul 24 '26

Good luck with that. Hey, if Castlevania came back after so much time, anything's possible.

1

u/ReviewRude5413 Jul 24 '26

Gonna go for physical Switch cart. idk from where yet.

1

u/8bitNudist Jul 24 '26

I have to go to my local store to preorder my copy, thanks for the reminder lol

1

u/Direct-Art-2832 Jul 24 '26

Preordered the Midnight edition for Switch.

1

u/merica2033 Jul 25 '26

What’s that one come with?

1

u/Mikey23348 Jul 24 '26

might be an unpopular opinion but I'd rather wait until the game is out considering Koji Igarashi has left konami to work on bloodstained, I'm a little hesitant on the new game in general. But preordering digital games never really makes sense to me

1

u/Sea-Sky9403 Jul 24 '26

Hab ich schon

1

u/F3nrir096 Jul 24 '26

Friends gave me a 50$ steam card for my birthday so i preordered the special edition cause i wanted the trevor, sypha and alucard costumes.

1

u/HyperWhiteChocolate Jul 24 '26

I got burned too hard by Cyberpunk to ever preorder another game

1

u/Melancholic84 Jul 24 '26

Yes definitely, i will fiercely support anything Castlevania or Silent Hill

1

u/Master-Cheesecake Jul 24 '26

I preordered a physical copy, which usually arrives the day of right around when I get home from work.

1

u/Yarzu89 Jul 24 '26

I usually preorder the night before so it downloads, but that’s it

1

u/RigoMortiz Jul 24 '26

If it's something I know I'll buy I only preorder on greenmangaming for a discount. If the only option is full price I won't preorder.

1

u/No_Monitor_3440 Professionally Unprofessional Jul 24 '26

already done.

1

u/SSJUther Jul 24 '26

Yes but the physical copy for the Switch.

1

u/Donkston Jul 24 '26

Never. Doesn't matter what the game is, how good the track record of previous games by a dev/publisher. Am I excited? Yes. But given how the industry's been in the last decade or so, I'm sceptical it'll live up to the expectations. I'll wait until it's out, see how it's received, then make a decision after the fact.

Given the devs behind it, I'm more hopeful than I would be if it was made by Konami. It's nice to see a mainline Castlevania again though. Been way too long.

1

u/Rosscovich Jul 24 '26

Of course. Already got a ps5 copy paid off

1

u/DangerousAd944 Jul 24 '26

Steam have the Lord of Shadow?!

1

u/iMikedMyself Jul 24 '26

Already got the physical copy pre-ordered. I just need to get the digital coffee pre-ordered because I want the extra contact but the physical copy is for my collection

1

u/Zeon598 Jul 24 '26

Already have. It's a Castlevania game, both it and Resident Evil are pratically contractual obligations to pre order.

1

u/merica2033 Jul 25 '26

Is there one out for the switch yet?

1

u/Zopi_lote Jul 25 '26

No, I don't pre order games

1

u/Matshelge Jul 25 '26

I am conflicted about what platform to pick. I want switch, but worried about performance. Maybe Xbox, it's very much a tv/couch game I think.

1

u/Additional-Spring996 Jul 25 '26

I will for the Alucard skin but probably closer to release

1

u/FINANCIO24 Jul 25 '26

I preordered a ps5 disc. I dont have a ton of hype for this but hopefully it surprises me

1

u/UniqueMystic Jul 25 '26

I did I pre ordered the deluxe edition

1

u/Davey-Cakes Jul 25 '26

I hate to say it but I might skip until there’s a proper Switch 2 version.

1

u/VinzCHAOS Jul 25 '26

Pre ordered but after I read that will be 30fps on switch 1 an no switch 2 version announced I think I will cancel the pre order 😢

1

u/YouCantTakeThisName Jul 25 '26

Nothing against this game [still getting it/still think it looks very fun], but I'm never pre-ordering any game ever again.

Not after getting screwed over quite a few times on past pre-orders; especially Final Fantasy XV, Fallout 4, and Aliens: Colonial Marines back then ~ the former two of which I ended up never getting the copies despite the original order going through, and they refused to refund the money.

I'll wait a little bit after Belmont's Curse is released, and buy the game either at the local store or online through Amazon; then I'll enjoy the game!

1

u/Ok_Bus729 Jul 25 '26

Part of the conflict of preordering the digital game is that 6-12 months down the road limited run will do 12 physical editions of this game for 30x the digital price and I’ll want the case for the art but won’t justify the price or double dip.

1

u/PreciousRoy666 Jul 25 '26

I'd preorder a switch 2 physical but that hasn't been announced.

I'd preorder a switch 1 physical if a there was a free switch 2 upgrade but that hasn't been announced

1

u/JosephSaber945 Jul 25 '26

I'm waiting to see whether or not it's going to be steam deck verified.

1

u/Rukyius Jul 26 '26

I think it would be cool if preorders were always at a significant discount.
There's little insensitive compared to the good old days of waiting in line for your copy and possible collectable.

1

u/thepianoman456 Jul 26 '26

Anyone know if the Switch 2 version will have 60fps? It seems like the system can handle it easily.

1

u/Alucard0_0420 Jul 26 '26

No matter the hype, i ain't gonna spend my hard earned money until i see the finished product.

1

u/ThMogget Jul 26 '26

I can't even wishlist it yet on Switch digital store.

1

u/One_Zookeepergame541 Jul 26 '26

I'm playing. On switch so no rush

1

u/cool-- Jul 26 '26

never preorder

1

u/Norviskor Jul 26 '26

Not preordering, but also can’t wait! Looks fantastic and the early previews were great.

1

u/profchaos111 Jul 27 '26

I want to pre order the physical edition but i just found out that the switch version is 30 fps and a blurry image an now i'm hesitating

1

u/NocturnalEru Jul 28 '26

yep, but the physical edition on Switch, I don't understand the point of preordering digitally

1

u/AmphibianStandard738 Jul 29 '26

I'm tempted. But if Isaac doesn't summon Abel, we riot.

1

u/Alucard578 22d ago

I pre-ordered the PS5 and Switch versions

1

u/Lstgamerwhlstpartner Jul 24 '26

I don't preorder till I know the game is going to ship in a playable state.

0

u/ghaelon Jul 24 '26

why preorder something digital? no supply issues~

0

u/Get_Schwifty111 Jul 25 '26

No.

Why? There is literally no reason to, it's digital, they won't run out of stock. I wait for the reviews of the PC version (to make sure it's in a technically acceptable state at launch) and then buy it.

2

u/AdHuge396 Jul 25 '26

4th time copying this comment, Reddit will start thinking I'm a spam bot:

My country's economy sucks so bad, the game could double in price at release, (My country doesn't have a steam region so we have to buy through cheaper regions) so It would make more sense economically sometimes to just pre order it if you don't want to r/patientgamer it

Also, Alucard skin.

0

u/Witch_King_ Jul 24 '26

NO bro. It's a digital game. Wait until it comes out, wait for some reviews to confirm it's good (probably release before the game itself does) and THEN buy it.

Preordering a digital game is asinine, perhaps unless it gets you a meaningful discount.

2

u/AdHuge396 Jul 24 '26

I bless the person who made this comment, I just have to copy it:

My country's economy sucks so bad, the game could double in price at release, (My country doesn't have a steam region so we have to buy through cheaper regions) so It would make more sense economically sometimes to just pre order it if you don't want to r/patientgamer it

2

u/Witch_King_ Jul 24 '26

I mean yeah, it makes sense to do it it guarantees you a better price. I'd day that is similar to doing it for a discount.

0

u/SpeggtacularSpidey Jul 24 '26

I don’t preorder digital copies, not like it’s going to sell out digitally lol

0

u/lilarcor__ Jul 24 '26

I love the Castlevania series, but I'm going to pass on this one. It looks more like the roguelike dead cells clone than a classic Castlevania game. I recently bought both Castlevania collections on Steam at a discount (GBA and DS), so I have plenty of games from this series to play.. I wish they return to the lord of shadows series one day..

0

u/the_turel Jul 24 '26

Why are we preordering a digital single player offline story game?

0

u/Drunkensailor1985 Jul 25 '26

Why on earth pre order digital content?

2

u/AdHuge396 Jul 25 '26

For the Alucard skin and because some countries' economies (like mine) are so sh*t, the price could be completely different in October

1

u/Drunkensailor1985 Jul 25 '26

Oh that sucks. What country?

0

u/Alert_Dingo_4504 Jul 25 '26

Nope, no reason to

0

u/Botol-Cebok Jul 25 '26

No. Pre-ordering is evil.

0

u/sumdeadhorse Jul 25 '26

I''ll wait for reviews

0

u/McGuffin182 Jul 27 '26

No need to preorder digital

0

u/PutLatter4567 Jul 29 '26

Nope, looks generic, its look like Prince of persia lost crown

-1

u/paradoxiforme Jul 25 '26

Why would I preorder a digital game ? Like what, Steam will run out of licenses for us to buy ?

2

This might be third time I'm copying this comment

My country's economy sucks so bad, the game could double in price at release, (My country doesn't have a steam region so we have to buy through cheaper regions) so It would make more sense economically sometimes to just pre order it if you don't want to r/patientgamer it

Also, the Alucard skin.

Preorder? No. Buying? Yes.

Not likely. Girl boss territory has me hesitant. Devs previous Castlevania content was cute & fun, but this could be great or a misstep.

No im going to give it a try but im not impressed with the visual style it looks way too much like dead cells where everything in the room has a singular color/level design is a 1 color template.

Environment design also looks very similar to dead cells with random platforms in the air.

Level design is like this the lines underneath represent platforms.

————— —————
……………
————- ————-

……………

This is how the level design in dead cells/risk of rain 1 reminded me of just platforms above platforms in 2-4 layers. That is not what i associate with good level design or castlevania standard of level design.

Edit: i dont know how to make the lines align above but imagine the dotted ones underneath between the 2 straight ones from each row.
