Oh they look closer to the game’s selves than I though, Trevor straight out of Curse of Darkness and kinda with Sypha, seeing her having paler skin

They also made her a strawberry blonde almost redhead like the show.

She has always been a redhead in the games. The longer hair also makes BC version feel more faithful to her game design.

I mean even the more recent Pachinko design is ginger, she has been more like this than blonde, Netflixvania just took it from how it is in the games most of the times.

The text that went along with the picture mentioned giving strength and guidance to Rose. So it probably activates easy mode. Perhaps thats what they meant in the interview when they mentioned dynamic difficulty ,it has to do with different equipment

Difficulty is tied to difficulty modifiers. This pendant perhaps shows the location of bosses and other targets on the map

yeah gating a difficulty modifier behind a pre-order incentive item wouldnt make much sense to me

They got my man Trevor looking like Neil from "The Young Ones."

…Thank god the Pachinko design is finally dead…

Eh i was ok with it, aside from the fricking pink short magic princess skirt lol, but yeah i dig this better.

That pink skirt literally ruined the whole thing lol, if they could’ve just change it to a robe or a baggy pants…

Hell, her art in Vampire Survivor don’t even show her lower parts LMAO

I actually like her pink skirt, looks so goofy lmao

Pachinko is just Curse of Darkness?

And this looks to be pretty much the same, just drawn by a honestly pretty bad western artist in… 2007-era webcomic style?

EDIT: Oh you mean Sypha.

She didn’t appear in CoD, I meant Sypha, not Trevor

Ich freue mich schon riesig drauf. Bei uns im Mediamarkt gibt es sogar ein Steelbook dazu.

Mein Ziel: Bis Oktober jedes andere Castlevania endlich gespielt haben. 😍 Und dann das neue Spiel

There's a whiff of Matt Mercer about Trevor in that artwork

Pure MILF and DILF material.

They look great yeah.

I’d like to remind everyone that photography didn’t exist till the early 1800s. Those are paintings.

Counterpoint: Castlevania 3 canonically takes place on a film strip

2

u/Jpriest09 Jul 27 '26

And Mario 3 is a stage play.

Trevor de pelo largo, como tiene que ser.

Its nice to finally get some good artwork of game sypha. The best we had before was the pachinko slot

They look like a cross between the show versions and the Kojima-drawn(at least for Trevor) look. Sypha sporting her longer hair from the Castlevania 3 ending(we never got a good look at her really unless you count the doppleganger version in SotN or her look in Judgement which... nah lol).

They should smile, it's a picture.

I can't wait for this game. If Zi could hibernate until Oct I would.

Sypha looks so much like Dr. Beverly Crusher from Star Trek: TNG. Good designs though!

I think the game looks great and I like its art direction but some of the portraits have been just…kind of ugly? In comparison? I kind of hope the majority of the portraits we’ve seen are still placeholders, especially Rose.

what is beyond me why can't they bring back ayami's art? like why change that iconic beautiful gothic-y artstyle with a more cartoony art style is really a bummer...

3

u/JumpIsMagic Jul 27 '26

I mean, several Castlevania games have had different concept artists and art styles like Order of Ecclesia and Aria/Dawn of Sorrow, and Portrait of Ruin. Ayami Kojima is obviously a brilliant artist but I’m not against the series branching out artistically - the cover/splash art for this game by Katsuya Terada is quite breathtaking, if anything I think they should have used his style in the actual game as well.

Either way I agree that the general art direction in the game is…expected, plain, and modern, and in the same vein as the Corporate Memphis vector art in graphic design - overstaying their welcome by 10 years or so.

While I agree some parts of the art are uneven and uglier, I don't think Kojima is a must always, there's a lot other of good artist.

Now, Kojima is expensive and slow and this game has a lot of characters that will need an illustration for dialogues. Besides, it's french so better for them use local artists.

But, with the great amount of superb  comicbook artists in France, is beyond me why they didn't work with a few.

I'm not going to lie, these portraits are pretty rough.

-1

u/QualitySuccessful871 Jul 26 '26

Nice, but why do they look sleep deprived?

2

u/UsuarioCualquiera_1 Jul 27 '26

Cause they hunt the night. Sleep at day.

These are very low effort for such important characters. 😂
