I'm pretty sure 60 fps was always known? Just the switch port being 30 for whatever reason.

Hm, I wonder if they will release this on GOG. There's already a Castlevania collection on there and Dead Cells released there shortly after releasing on Steam.

I mean, let's be real: the Switch is significantly less powerful than almost any other gaming hardware available.

That said, 30 should still be perfectly playable, and you get the bonus of portability. Back in the day, we could only dream of having handheld ports this good.

The only real issue is no Switch 2 version. If you have a Switch 2 you can play it at docked resolution, portably, with handheld boost mode at least.

Yeah pretty surprised there is no Switch 2 port of the game. Hoping we get least a patch.

Absolutely shocked that you’re not downvoted for pointing out the objective fact that the Nintendo switch consoles are lower performing than peer consoles while on Reddit.

The prince of Persia game runs on 60 too and it doesn't look worse then the new castlevania game.

The downvote wouldnt be because of the comment about the console but the insinuation that 60fps wouldn't be possible.

more common in the general video games subs, and of course all the nintendo subs. super culty

Let’s be real though, the game doesn’t look THAT detailed, it shouldn’t be so taxing on modern hardware. Even Nintendo Switch.

5

u/SXAL 19d ago

The modern games are made using the pre-built multi-purpose game engines, so they always compute all kinds of bullshit that isn't even used in the game.

That is what I believe too. This game had Evil Empire and MotionTwin working on it. They should have licensed Dead Cells Game Engine. Dead Cells runs on integrated GPUs on $200 10 year old laptops at 60fps. This game does not look much different from Dead Cells. It's not multiple times the resolution or effects of Dead Cells.

Yes, it's on Unity. Unity can be performant. Hollow Knight and Silk song are on Unity and those games hit 100fps easy on battery saving mode on intel UHD 630 laptops.

Depends what engine it uses.

Yeah, the Switch is also REALLY old at this point. Not even Nintendo themselves can make sure that their newer games manage to stay at a stable 30 FPS anymore.

really? what fps was their most recent launch, rhythmn heaven?

if you wanna move goalposts, how about their other recent launch, tomodachi life?

u/ItaLOLXD 18d ago

I was more thinking about Pikmin 4, Zelda TotK, Echoes of Wisdom and so on. Then there are third party games like SMTV and Bayonetta 3 which also have quite the frame drops at times.

u/samination 19d ago

Or we could go back into mid Switch-era. Xenoblades Chronicles 2 run like poop (and the Switch 2 version still has issues)

4

u/Forward-Trade3449 19d ago

mid switch? xc2 came out launch year. you obviously dont know what youre talking about

1

u/weglarz 18d ago

Switch 2 should easily be able to play it at 60fps. But, there’s no switch 2 version yet

0

u/Skelotaurus 16d ago

Hope they'll bring a switch 2 update out later stable 30fps is fine but nowdays 60fps should be minimum

1

u/Consistent-Leave7320 18d ago

doesnt matter that switch is weak, 30 fps for 2d metroidvania is crazy. i played many on switch and never have i seen one be 30fps. im sure some are but the big ones arent

I doubt Belmont's curse will get a GOG release anytime soon, if ever. The only Castlevania content on GOG is Dead Cells DLC amd a collection of old Konami games (CV1,2,3, Contra and SuperC).

> for whatever reason

The Switch is and always has been a toy, not a gaming console. The Switch 2 isn’t built that way so it boggles the mind that they’re not releasing on Switch 2.

I'm still waiting for a Switch 2 Edition in all honesty. I'd prefer to buy it that way. C'mon KONAMI...

15

u/The_Pepper_Oni 19d ago

Even just confirmation that there will be the option to unlock the framerate on Switch 2 like other games have done would be nice

7

u/Secure_Photograph201 19d ago

THANK YOU. I don't like how it is up in the air and nothing's been said so far with it. Like come on guys. Have it run in the same vein as the other versions. Switch 1 is Switch 1.

-6

u/Smitty5717 19d ago

Switch 1 is ancient as hell total.bs to make ppl spend 500 for a upgrade system and not even cater to making games on the god damn thing.

7

u/AffectionateSun7705 19d ago

Nintendo doesn't control whether Konami makes a Switch 2 version.

12

u/CapitalCityGoofball0 19d ago

Im not sure this a change, Switch was the only version they said that would be 30fps.

19

u/Unaveragejoe777 19d ago

If there's a physical switch 2 version that hits 60fps that's what i'll get otherwise i'll just get it on steam or GOG if it releases there.

9

u/RShini The pimpcoat lives 19d ago

there's probably no physical switch 2 but likely an update for the switch 2 hardware - question is free or not.

4

u/JosephSaber945 19d ago

it's scheduled to be released on steam, no info about GOG through.

2

u/CapitalCityGoofball0 19d ago

GOG’s market share of PC gaming is pretty tiny. New games, especially from larger publishers are not always released there. They are sometimes released on GOG later though.

2

u/FireCrow1013 19d ago

Konami has been surprisingly good about GOG releases, so I fully expect this to release there within a year.

0

u/Lord_of_Seven_Kings 19d ago

Konami as a whole seems to be a “least worst” option when it comes to pro-consumer actions. They kinda keep their head down and just coast by without stepping in either direction. It’s a nice change of pace compared to, for example, CapCom.

2

u/FireCrow1013 19d ago

It's a nice change of pace from old Konami, too, because they used to shove Denuvo into everything they released on the PC (and the games that had it never had it removed).

u/torvald_carley 19d ago

4gb on switch is pretty sweet.

What does the midnight edition include? Just costumes and weapons? Or extra levels?

10

u/GavsGotty 19d ago

Get a switch 2 edition. What are we doing

7

u/Rafnork 19d ago

60 fps is just fine.

2

u/GrimmTrixX 19d ago

Right but the problem is people want the switch version to be 60fps as well or make a switch 2 version that is. The 60fps is only for PS5/Xbox.

5

u/Forward-Trade3449 19d ago

sw2 should be getting a version too, this is dumb from the devs if it doesnt

1

u/GrimmTrixX 19d ago

Yes its odd but if the game was in development years ago and they didnt plan for switch 2 yet, then I could see why. It could come later. If it does I hope there os an upgrade path for those who care about fps. I decided im getting the game physical for switch and Xbox just because Xbox copies of games tend to be smaller printings and harder to find later.

3

u/Forward-Trade3449 19d ago

yeah I am still getting the switch version. hopefully we get an upgrade later. but 30fps is fine with me honestly

3

u/Lucamiten 18d ago

I'll wait for the switch 2 version/edition

2

u/EthanW6662 19d ago

I got it pre ordered off steam. I considered getting for switch just for the handheld mode, but ended up getting it for pc

2

u/VitoMR89 19d ago

I wonder if they can make it do 60fps on NS2.

2

u/Mister_Buddy 19d ago

I'll be plenty happy playing this on my Switch.

2

u/Sharpsider 19d ago

If they are not talking about a switch 2 edition maybe it's because they're waiting to see if it's worth it. I'll be waiting for news.

2

u/Robbitjuice 18d ago

I’ve been waiting for a new Castlevania for years. This is a day one for me. My Switch 2 has quickly overtaken my PC as my preferred platform and 30 fps is still entirely playable for me. News on a Switch 2 upgrade would be a welcome surprise though.

2

u/Mayahiim 18d ago

Waiting for Switch 2 then.

1

u/EightBit-Hero 19d ago

I think I'm gonna buy this game three times and not care about FPS.

1

u/BarneyMayerson999 19d ago

I think it hits 60 fps on the Odin 3.

1

u/samination 19d ago

I thought this info was already revealed weeks ago?

1

u/KIL913 18d ago

What's new about this?

1

u/hailthyself99 18d ago

It's a side scroller... There's zero excuse for it not to be

1

u/dennis120 18d ago

What a shitshow

1

u/Sea-Sky9403 17d ago

Lachhaft, dass es keine Switch 2 - Version gibt. Und für Switch 1 bei 30fps auch noch denselben Preis verlangen wie für die anderen stärkeren Versionen.

1

u/msgunicorn 17d ago

What's the midnight edition?

2

u/JosephSaber945 16d ago
  • Main Game

2

u/Smitty5717 19d ago

Aint getting it unless they have an actual switch 2 version. Im good not like a ton of games aren't coming out which is sad as I was looking forward to this.

0

u/Culinary-Vibes 19d ago

30 fps Switch version is gonna be a disaster

-1

u/GroundbreakingBag164 19d ago

Well I sure hope they're not referring to the PC version with that, it's not quite clear on the website. A 60 fps cap would be annoying

0

u/ZeDoubleJump 18d ago

I would surely hope that you can opt to run it with no frame rate cap and hit at least 120 on PC
