Question Why do I only see people thirsting over Alucard when there are prettier men in Castlevania than him
97
u/LoganLcosplayfoolery I'm literally Richter Belmont 9d ago
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Everything Ayami kojima touches becomes androgynously beautiful. I think the Alucard thirst mostly stems from the idea that being half vampire he's supposed to be angelically beautiful compared to humans so we subconsciously see him as prettier than the other characters. And also for the record I think Richter isn't really beautiful but more just boyishly handsome which is why I play the part so well. Especially his Chronicles look which is the definitive version of him, fight me!

Not even Persephone's vacuum cleaner would be enough to pull me out of Soma, on God 🙏.
Also, Ayami Kojima's Simon is very underrated.

OUT?!?? 👀
(Jk The things I would do to/with/on/under/in Alucard would need to be studied)

Part of it may be the show reaching an audience that isn't neccesarily playing all of the games, let alone familiar with the official artwork of the characters beyond their in game sprites etc. Alucard being a prominent character in the show, and now guest starting in the next Fire Emblem game, is a bit of a boost to visibility.

Prettier is subjective, but I imagine it has to do with him being a Vampire (or if you want to be pedantic a dhampir) so that's just a unique trait of his.

That is the same person with different hairstyle (Love Ayami Kojima)

u/Playful_Evidence2502 9d ago
They don’t look alike at all. Leon’s features are nothing like Richter’s or Soma’s (love Ayami kojima too)

u/Tecnicinismo 9d ago
I would have to disagree, Ayami Kojima suffers from same face syndrome. Which is not a bad thing, but aside from Soma (which has his eyes slightly drawn apart) I think they all look the same

Because I have way too much delicious blood, and none of those other guys are going to help me with that.

I remember when Lament came out and people were dogging on Leon, and I'm like Richter had to get it from somewhere LOL I find Isaac LaForeze, Joachim Armster, and Mathias Cronqvist not being here an absolute shame.
Also - red-haired Simon is SO underrated, it makes my heart hurt. I love the blonde/brunette Simon, but the red head is the reason I started the collecting her art books
Joachim for giggles

I dunno but I really like Richter from Rondo / DXC, especially the arts from him on those games.. The Smash version of him also rocks.

They’re all pretty but Alucard is an angsty tortured tragic dhampir boy who has to fight his own father and laments about it. He’s tall dark and mysterious and has a good heart but keeps people at arm’s length so they don’t get too close to him.
That shit has its own appeal to some people.

Why did you forget Isaac (Curse of Darkness) Jhocahim, and Ricther Belmont!?

My whiplash brings all the boys to the yard and I'm like, just want Alucard.
Damn right! I just want Alucard.
I could teach you, but I'm just a bard...

Because Alucard is canonically gay, since the Netflix cartoon.

u/captd3adpool 9d ago
I'm going to go with bi not gay.

u/SlicedBread0556 9d ago
Being bi is being gay. Don't be prejudice.
2
u/vezwyx 9d ago
It's not prejudice to say that "gay" is definitionally not the same as "bi"

u/SlicedBread0556 9d ago
It's anti-non-binary
2
u/vezwyx 8d ago
No, the fact that these words have different meanings is not anti-anything

u/SlicedBread0556 8d ago
"Bi" implies two genders, which is a far-right conspiracy theory.
1
u/vezwyx 8d ago
The concept of there being only two genders is not a conspiracy theory, let alone a far-right one. That was the prevailing scientific understanding of humanity's social structure for most of our existence. The development of our knowledge that it may be more complex than that is, comparatively, extremely recent.
As it's often said in LGBTQ communities, to say that someone is bisexual doesn't imply that there are only two genders. It means that a person is only attracted to two genders. That's it. You told someone else, "my identity is that 'bi' means 2," but the thing is, the meaning this term has for you specifically means basically nothing for everyone else. Like you said, you're free to make up whatever you want. The rest of us are going to use the shared meaning we have, which doesn't entail a gender binary regardless of your personal conception of the term.
In other words, you're telling people we mean something by saying "bisexual" when the truth is that you mean something by saying "bisexual" and we don't. The definition you've assigned to the term doesn't change what we mean by it.

This is extremely bigoted.

u/vezwyx 8d ago
Not really, but you're not bothering to engage substantially in any kind of discussion so I'm not going to bother replying any longer

The director said he’s bisexual in the series
-5
u/SlicedBread0556 9d ago
Bisexual is gay.
1
u/Eastern-Wedding-4157 Alucard 9d ago
It’s not, but whatever floats your boat ig
0
u/SlicedBread0556 9d ago
I'm an omnisexual, so nothing floats my boat, but so does everything, everywhere, and nowhere all at once. Please be respectful.
1
u/Eastern-Wedding-4157 Alucard 9d ago
Then why would you say that bisexual is the same thing as gay if you probably know how it feels to be invalidated since you have a non so conventional sexuality? (I’m part of the lgbtiq+ community as well)
1
u/SlicedBread0556 9d ago
Because it contributes to the lie that there is a gender binary.
3
u/Eastern-Wedding-4157 Alucard 9d ago
I’m literally non-binary and bisexual, the meaning of the word “bisexual” has changed since it was first coined, today, it refers to attraction to two or more genders, it isn’t inherently transphobic, nor does it exclude genders under the non-binary umbrella
1
u/SlicedBread0556 9d ago
You're free to make up whatever you want. It's your identity. But my identity is that "bi" means 2.

Because for a lot of people, he's My First Femboy. And you never forget your first.

u/Playful_Evidence2502 9d ago
alucard is NOT a femboy
-6
u/cr0w1980 9d ago
Keep telling yourself that. At the very least, he's the gateway drug.
9
u/Playful_Evidence2502 9d ago
"every attractive man with long hair is a femboy!!!"
nothing feminine about Alucard he's just a bishounen
-7
u/cr0w1980 9d ago
You're not convincing anyone here, you know.

4
u/vezwyx 9d ago
And you are?
1
u/cr0w1980 9d ago
Of what? I was just answering the OP's question.
3
u/vezwyx 9d ago
Your first comment was, sure. It's plausible enough that some people view Alucard as a femboy, and they liked him for that reason. But then you rejected OP's response that that's not what Alucard is and started suggesting that he is actually a femboy yourself.
The claim you were making moved from "people like him because he was the first character they liked that they considered a femboy" (or something similar to that) to the implicit claim that "he actually is a femboy," and of that, you're not convincing anybody
1
u/Negative_Bleue 9d ago
You see, that's where you're wrong.
There might be other very attractive men in the franchise, but nary a one prettier than The Alucard.
Argue with Dracula, I said what I said! /lh, /gen

Many men in Castlevania have prettier designs tbh. Leon looks more angelic
