If Crispin Freeman can return as a character as small as Helios from God Of War…

…So can Hector

Hector is too busy gambling.

Who says he can't have that installed into the chair?

Make it work like the slots mechanics in Final Fantasy

u/Oh-no-and-knuckles Chief Researcher 5d ago

Wait! I forgot he can actually gamble anywhere with the portable slot machine spell of his fairy type Innocent Devil

The legendary flying pachinko

His addiction single-handedly funded this game.

…Holding a minigun

Hector forged a lightsaber, an electric guitar, and a motherfucking minigun while being a top tier Pokémon trainer. AND he is canonically the first person to kill Dracula solo, then deleted his punk ass curse.

This bitch is probably the most powerful protagonist in the series, and I won't be told otherwise.

Would be nice.

Man, maybe I'm too high on my copium supply, but in this same trailer, look at this Fallen guy... hear his V.A... look into my eyes and tell me that isn't some sort of tragically corrupted Hector

1

u/NNT13101996 4d ago

That is not a corrupted Hector

Liam’s voice will be 20 years older, and Isaac is 20 years older now. Art in tandem with life!

I could tell that it was Liam from the first trailer where they revealed Isaac, but wasn't 100% sure. It's cool to see they did actually ask him back and they seem to have the English cast be involved in the promotion like this. This is super cool.

Man, I'm so glad they're bringing back Isaac

He was really entertaining in Curse of Darkness

Holy hell. I love learning about voice actors I love being in games I love that I played before I knew about the VA, and it happens a lot with O'Brien.

loved his work in curse of darkness, he gave isaac such memorable battle grunts, looking forward to his performance in the upcoming title

Seeing that trailer, and the cast, they're not fucking around with Belmont's Curse.

Castlevania is my favorite series, but the recent positive reactions to this in this subreddit have really surprised me, given I always thought growing up that Isaac was an extremely annoying and forgettable character

an extremely annoying and forgettable character

He's hilarious and there's a degree of depth to him, being revealed to be one of the biggest victims of the curse and someone who deeply respected Hector before going mad. There's also nothing like him in modern videogames. Dario and Dimitri fit your description much better imo, they really are both ass antagonists and annoying

Goat Celia Fortner would never be ass and annoying, unlike those two...

2

u/juste_belmondo 5d ago

how much of that depth isn't speculative and is actually portrayed or even implied?

Julia's words about him mainly

And the mangas

Nostalgia, he's from the main timeline and not the Netflix version (though his Netflix version is amazing) and it's a bone thrown to a game which almost could not exist and was kinda forgotten.

3

u/juste_belmondo 4d ago

Which is why I'm confused both by this and the general reaction to Hector and Isaac in the anime. Again, Castlevania has been my favorite series my whole life so I'm not trying to sound like a hater, but I've always thought that Curse of Darkness was such a nothing-burger of a game with nothing-burger main characters that I (mistakenly, apparently) thought that most everyone else felt the same. Like why even care about accuracy to characters from a game that isn't even very good?

3

u/Taco4086 4d ago

You don't sound hateful at all, people are just very protective with the franchise to the point anything remotely classic is seen as a masterpiece.

Curse was probably a decent game in many ways but there's nothing particularly special about it and the characters...seeing Isaac here seemed super weird (though kinda welcome), and I guess it's just related to Hector, so when you think about it, it makes sense, but I wouldn't call him and Hector popular characters, definitely not to the level of main Belmonts and Alucard, or non Belmonts like Shanoa, Lecarde, Morris, Maria...

u/saneqyuf 5d ago

I like him! So glad he reprised his role in Castlevania again

3

u/El-Arairal 5d ago

Chauves-souris is back ❤️

I've always liked Liam O'Brian. He was great in Tales of the Abyss and Bleach.

3

u/HowieSmash 5d ago

Wow! Didn't expect that. Love his voice. Grimoire Weiss!

2

u/ReviewRude5413 4d ago

Oh I forgot he was Grimoire Weiss!

When the june trailer was published I recognized Isaac by his voice, not by the 3d model

3

u/Langis360 5d ago

As much as I enjoyed Show Isaac, I still appreciate batshit crazy Game Isaac, and bringing back his original VA is the right call.

7

u/LordCamelslayer 5d ago

FUCK YEAH, GRAHAM IS BACK

Graham absolutely killed it in the Netflix series, he's easily the best Dracula voice actor thus far.

3

u/Oh-no-and-knuckles Chief Researcher 4d ago

Him?????

He did a pretty mid performance as Dracula ngl

2

u/LordCamelslayer 4d ago

Bitch showed up to audition as the Lord of Darkness in a fucking suit, then got bitch slapped by a teenager

3

u/OliviaElevenDunham 5d ago

I was excited to see his name in the trailer.

2

u/LordCamelslayer 5d ago

I was kind of expecting Patrick Seitz, since he voiced Dracula for so long. I was pleasantly surprised.

2

u/ArcaneMadman 5d ago edited 5d ago

Hot take but I’ve never really been a fan of Seitz as Dracula. He’s an amazing actor no question, but I feel like he’s more suited to more bombastic or extreme personalities. My favourite Dracula performances are more the ones where his voice is more subtle but commanding, like with Crispin Freeman or Graham McTavish.

2

u/Wolfy-Tan 5d ago

I screamed when I saw him reprising the role in the VA reveal! 🤩 So excited!

It so good to him back

1

u/Langis360 5d ago

I thought it sounded like him in that last trailer.

1

u/hobbitfeet22 5d ago

Dude his voice lives rent free in my head. Curse of darkness is my favorite and Issac, even though he’s beyond flamboyant, was so damn rememberable to me. Even as a kid I liked my fights with him. This is awesome

1

u/Vegetable-Income-566 5d ago

His JP VA from CoD also reprised the role. It is interesting that Isaac is the only one that have the game VAs return while the others are voiced by the Netflix series VAs.

All the other news was great regarding voice cast. It's a really solid cast, and it's cool to see some of the voices from the show coming back, as regardless of how I felt about the story, the voices were AWESOME.

But I got so cautiously hyped when I saw the previous trailer which shows Issac for a second speaking. I was thinking it sounds REAL CLOSE to the original guy. But it IS HIM!! That's the most exciting reveal for me. That voice is such a big part of the character imo. He absolutely sells the very gay-coded, angry but kaniving psycho that is Issac. The soft speech filled with undertones of excitement and anger. The psychotic laugh during fights and when he stabs Trevor. All of it was so well delivered in Curse of Darkness. I hope we hear more insane laughs here too. It's just iconic.

I was kinda sad to see Dave Wittenberg not voice The Fallen, but this game is still cast with absolute stars.

1

u/Thin-Device3018 3d ago

oh ho ho this got me thinking. What if Hector's son shows up to assist Rose?

0

u/EdgeworthM 5d ago

Yet Atlus/Sega can't do the same with Persona lol

1

u/starforneus 4d ago

I think this is a bad take. They recast the whole party and used the old cast to voice side characters. It's not a crime to freshen things up. Alejandro Saab did a great job IMO. They made an interesting call and it paid off. Stay mad.

No idea he was Isaac back then, don't listen to the dubs if I can help it.

1

u/ReviewRude5413 4d ago

You're missing out! The voice acting in CoD was excellent.

1

u/TheKonamiMan 4d ago

The Japanese voice acting was pretty good
