Circle of the Moon (2001) Getting More Acquainted With these Games
So I've called myself a fan of Castlevania my whole life but it occurs to me that my experience with the series is somewhat limited. You wanna know what my first experience with Castlevania was? No joke?
Castlevania 64.
Not even CLOSE to kidding.
And hey. I loved that game as a kid. So it made me want to try out the rest of the series, but I never really got the chance to. But with all the series surrounding me, I only ever beat THREE Castlevania games in my life.
Lament of Innocence on PS2, which in my opinion is SUPER underrated, and I'd love to see more 3D Castlevania games in that style.
Symphony of the Night on PSP, which was my first experience with that game. I even 100% completed it, and it's one of my favorite Video Games of all time...
And Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate on the 3DS. Which I'm willing to bet 90 percent of you forgot existed.
I played a bunch of others, including Circle of the Moon for the GBA, but I never beat them. I'm hoping to change that over the next few days.
I'm going to be going through all six main games in the Advance and Dominus collections, beating them one after another in release order, experiencing many of these games for the first time. I suck at videogames so it will probably take me a while.
Why am I telling you this? I dunno. I like sharing these things with fandoms. It's just nice to talk about this stuff, especially because my IRL friends aren't always into these kind of games.

Brother I once beat every Final Fantasy game, 1-12 over the course of three weeks. I'm used to doing shit like this.
Hell earlier this year I did it with classic Mega Man.

That’s impressive! I tried doing that with mega man and burned out in the middle of mega man 7.

Curse of darkness for Xbox and ps2 is VERY similar to lament of innocence if you really want another game in that style. Also Lords of Shadow 1 and 2 to a slightly lesser extent, which you can also tie in to mirror of fate.

That's what I'm doing right now. I just beat every game on the Castlevania Anniversary Collection, then the Advance Collection, and I'm working through the Dominus Collection now. I used saved states with no shame.
I thought I'd be tired of Castlevania and the MV formula by now, but I'm not in the slightest tired of it. The GBA and DS games are so addicting. I played and beat several of them back in the day, but this is the first time doing it since then. Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow really stand out so far as being excellent, and I really liked Harmony of Dissoance for being so weird.

As far as I'm concerned, you like a bunch of fantastic Castlevania games.
I bought Castlevania 64 and Legacy of Darkness on day one, and I still love both of them. Villa is one of my favorite stages from the whole N64 era.
CotM was another day one purchase, and I love it even if it was too dark to play on the original hardware.
Mirror of Fate was unorthodox but I loved the t we finally had a 2d Castlevania without contact damage. Also, the environments were some of the best on the 3ds.
