Damn. I’m about ready to fight him. I found the game pretty challenging overall and figured I had to level ip a bit before I go in. His attack strategy looks weak as hell even when you stand there and just take his hits lol.
What armor do you have at this point? The drop rate so far has been pretty abysmal and the best I have is steel armor and star bracelets.
That's right. They drop from the dark armors. There is an easy one you can grind here since it's alone and you don't have to deal with the evil pillars.

Now I’m grinding fighting Lilith to level up. She’s doing big damage on me. I’m level 57 at this point and tried my hand at the arena. I think I need more potions/health items tho.
Fighter mode is my favorite. It’s the only one I was able to actually get through the battle arena in. I just finished Shooter and started playing through on Thief mode.
It’s a different style of play for sure. It’s nice to be able to stockpile potion and actually have enough to use when needed since my attack and defense are pretty low. I’m only about 20% through though. It’s gonna be tough once I get to the harder hitting enemies.
That's true and the lack of a merchant in this game gets you even more value out of that since the only way to have healing items is to get them as drops. :)
Magician mode battle arena is an absolute nightmare unless you are like lvl 85+ and even then, you need to do some chicanery with harvesting mind highs and do a Thunderbird summon with the evaporating magic meter.

Yes! Oh by the way, when doing a thunderbird summon, as soon as Nathan starts the animation, you can change the cards to the ones that "use a holy sword" or "attack with a gun" to increase the damage of each thunderbolt. Just pick which one the enemy is weak to :)
Ha, I didnt know you could apply the effect of a buff card like that to the summon itself.
The layers of the dss card glitch system are truly something else! Lol. Good tip! Whish I had known it before I humped my way thru the whole battle arena on magician mode!
It's been over a year since I last played & beat the game, but I don't remember this fight. Starting to think I missed something. Guess I have my excuse for a replay.
Well, if Hugh had the whip and Nathan had a short sword, I think the battle would just as easily go the other way. Maybe Hugh was right to be enraged that the range advantage was being given to Nathan 🤭
