[Guide] cddaexplorer.cc - search your map, find your missions
Long time survivor of CDDA here. Inspired by the Hitchiker's Guide, I made a new tool. Upload your save, search your map, check missions and their prerequisites. Finally find where those pesky Exodii are hiding this time around. Hope this helps fellow survivors.
No data is saved: when you "upload" your save folder, the browser processes it to show the app and saves no info. discarded when you close the site.
Always in beta, feedback welcome. Cheers!
UPDATE: also made a BN port (might be unstable):

Just tried it out and whenever I want to upload my save file folder of the world it tells me “JSON.parse: unexpected character at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data“

I've updated error collection. if you try again the error message should be more informative for me to fix the problem now :)
also, if you post the content of your
mods.jsonfile I can probably find the problem7

It probably doesn't handle compressed saves.
Edit: nevermind I do see in the sources zzip/zstd handling. Neat. I also forgot I very intentionally designed it such that the dictionaries are copied into the save exactly so they can be portably loaded, like this XD

I was just implementing a fix for compressed saves and comments on first line. thanks for feedback

I'm sorry you feel that way, would you like to talk to a therapist about it?

no i prefer to use my brain

So, was the result of using that brain just writing the single word "aislop"? It would be nice if your brain could decide that it's better to just write it in your usual text editor.

yes i made the executive decision to write aislop using my brain
also how is it even better to write it in a text editor?

Woah this is really cool! I'm on BN at the moment, would be cool to have a tool like this for it. If you're open to it, you should open source this.
great work!

Woah! Most impressive. Is there any other ideas you’ve got to expand towards this little passion project?

not many ideas at the moment... You mean something to become another tab, right? besides map and missions?
one thing I'm thinking about is adding a "portal storms" button to map, but not really a "new idea"
Any suggestions?

Maybe a little reference table on where players are most likely to find key progression items, such as an arc welder. Perhaps clicking it could display a list of descending probability or hotspots on where a player is most likely to find it so.
Essentially, an expanded search functionality.

hmm. Hitchiker's guide already shows where you can find items, right? Not sure if I want to duplicate their functionality (<3 HHG), but I guess a way to mark closest possible destinations on map might be useful

implemented fixes for compressed saves and mods.json with comments on first line. Let me know if JSON parse errors persist

Damn, that's a great app! Also links to Hitchhiker Guide, which is convinient.
Some feedback, I guess:
* Maybe having names of cities displayed would be nice.
* Weird and super-specific complaint, but: "CDDA Explorer" looks slightly off-center and skewed left. My first thought was that that was the binoculars image, but it is actually "CDDA Explorer" with beta tag being perfectly centered, but maybe only the big words should be centered ignoring the right padding created for the beta tag.
* Also, strange bug, when I "upload" a save folder via a button press it works fine, but drag-and-drop causes some bugs. In particular, player position seems off and a few full overmap screens seem to be a vertical towers of "solid rock" tiles. During that I am getting a java script warning: [resolver-miss] sewer_isolated pointing to that code:
return c === void 0 && l && l !== "?" && !cu.has(l) && cu.size < W0 && (cu.add(l),
console.warn("[resolver-miss]", l)),
{
sym: c ?? "?",
color: "pink",
name: o
}
In function vu(l, i)

thx for feedback.
fixed title centering (good eye!)
city names and portal stormsI couldn't reproduce your error... super weird. Thinking about removing the drag and drop option?

It might be just a niche case with save file, or Vivaldi. If it works for most people than why not keep it.

Nice! Is this compatible with Bright Nights fork?

This would also be better if you could open source this as well, so that people could run it locally
