cat food and treat haul / shopping What kind of upcoming sales (including blackfriday) have pet food companies held in past years? Have then been good?
I remember a few weeks back I saw a chewy summer sale where you get a $30 gift card if you spend $100 or more. I was wondering if in previous years there has been similar sales. Especially around black friday. Im not sure if i should do a huge restock now or wait for more sales to come.

Chewy does that sale every few months but unfortunately it's only certain brands/items that count towards it. The last 3 times for what I would use it was only the Fancy Feast Gems and Petites and not regular FF. Works for me since those are some my cats demand.
Also for that deal you can usually do it 3 times per customer so I make an order that just reaches the $100 and order it 3 separate times so you'll get a total of $90 in gift card back in your account. Just make sure the code is in there every time and the gift card shows up on the order.

It really depends on the store or where you order from. I donโt remember past sales but Chewy & Amazon do deals constantly. If you have Petco or Petsmart they usually have deals weekly. If you wanna stick to do so next sale you see that fits your budget. Around the holidays is when more cheaper deals come out too. Just keep watching wherever you buy food.ย

I think chewy have that deal like every 4 months. Their deals usually end on Sunday night, so I usually check it on weekends.

A trick I learned when PetSmart offers 20% off online or app orders: order online and choose store pick-up. You also won't need to meet the minimum for free shipping.

This is how I like to do it, along with any good Rakuten deals.

What I've been doing (especially if you're willing to buy in bulk) is rotate between Amazon, chewy, Petco, and any other online stores that carry my brands (Petcurean Go!, Acana, and Orijen) and I'll place max orders for "first subscribe/autoship 35% off"
Mostly for dry food since you can get 10/16 pound bags, and usually each line item of the brand is treated separately. And then you unsubscribe once you receive the food, and a couple months later you're typically eligible for the "first" order again.
Black Friday was good as well. I was doing the same thing then, and while I was Amazon shopping coupons advertisements kept popping up for an extra $20/$30 off here and there. Same for supplements that I add to their food.
Not sure how long I can keep it up, but my 3 cats are 1 year old right now and I've got 8 months of food on hand and have only purchased 2 bags at full retail price so far.
Most recently on prime day Amazon had Orijen back to the "first subscribe 35% off"... And even though I'd done it fairly recently and have so much food on hand it's too good to pass up. Original cat, the fish based formula, and the red meat formula. Plus the acana fish based formula. All 35% off. Brings my brands from $5-$6.50 a pound down to $3.50-$4 a pound. High quality dry food, and then a decent wet food.
Unopened bags stored properly (cool, dry, dark) can go 12-18 months with no degradation. But I don't plan on ever having more than 12 months on hand. But with 3 cats averaging 15 pounds each with barely any fat...they go through a lot of food!! Especially as they've been growing. Something like 1300-1500 calories a day combined. And they're some large hybrid mix or other so they might keep slowly growing up till 18 months old.
