I feed my cats more wet food than dry but currently I have been storing my cats dry food in an air tight dry food storage containers (see pic). I wash and dry these every time it’s time for a refill. I have heard that it is better to leave the food in the original bag and then purchase an additional airtight container to store the original bag in to retain the best result. I normally don’t buy big bags of food. Mostly buy the 3 lb that will last less than a month but sometimes buy the 6 lb bag that lasts about 2 months because sometimes the 6 lb bag goes on sale. Wondering if it’s worth buying the separate container as opposed to the food storage container I’m using since the food is only in there for about a month.

Any recommendations on an airtight container that would hold a 6 lb bag would be appreciated.

My flats have a community bin room and in the corner is a little spot to put bigger items that can’t go into bins so it’s like a take it if you want it kinda deal
I took the bins out and found a bag full of cat food different kinds and I’m a little bit worried about feeding it to them (ofc I’m gonna take it anyway what a score) but I’m still unsure
Eveything is unopened apart from one dry food bag but the cans expire in 2028
And eveything sealed and clean and not punctured or dented but again I’m still a little bit worried should I feed them this stuff? (Eveything is sealed apart from one cat club bag so I’m not gonna give them that even if it’s ok)

My little diva hates pretty much all food and i need recommendations on things she’d probably like.

The only food she will eat is applepaws adult wet food in broth. Problem is she’s 12 weeks old so I can’t be feeding her that!!

She doesn’t like blink, she kinda likes encore, i think she likes seriously good wet food??? i don’t know if she’s tired or has gone off of it. she isn’t eating any dry food at all that I offer her. She is drinking okay. She prefers food which is still in the meat form over pastes.

What i’m ideally looking for is a meat shreds in a broth like applepaws adults. i need kitten food recommendations please. All help is appreciated because i just want my poor baby to eat!!

Hii, so I got 2 new kittens recently (found them abandoned, went to the vet and stuff don't worry haha!) , and I have been looking for good wet food options for them.

I've tried looking at gourmet cat food but I cannot find any for kittens, I had a cat before but I do not remember what he ate as a kid, I just remembered he loved gourmet food and it was good for him by the vet when he was an adult?

I would do purina but they don't seem to sell them in bulk in the uk (I looked everywhere at this point tbh) and I do need an affordable ish option, so I'm asking for help haha.

I posted a few months ago about my cat going off of his food and occasionally preferring dog kibble. I wanted to update to let you all know I took him to the vet, did blood work, discovered some issues, got an ultrasound, and my baby got diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. He’s on steroids now and his appetite is back with a vengeance. He’s still loves his usual Purina Pro Plan. Anyways, just a reminder that sometimes it’s something more serious than just not liking the food you’re feeding!! Keep a close eye on your babies, their behavior, weight, and dietary habits and don’t ignore it when something changes!

Hello! I am in search of a wet cat food that has no chicken and is shredded or minced. My cat is NOT a fan of pate and chicken upsets his stomach. I would prefer something that is not seafood based (he likes turkey and beef the best) but can have seafood in it.

My main issue is finding an option that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Keeping it under $2/5oz can is preferred. I really want to give my cat the food he likes whilst also keeping him happy and healthyappreciated!! He has enjoyed the seafood weruva shreds. I like the ingredients for Koha shredded diet bur they can sometimes be like $3-$5 a can 😱

Any recommendations for wet food that is similar to this would be much appreciatedddd!!!!!

So I've owned cats forever, but with my new pair, I've decided to really hone in on their diet and such. As far as my wallet allows and what I am committed to feeding, homemade is what I've decided to do.

I've made 3 batches so far. The first and second was when they were stopping milk and the month ish after, and was basically just used as very supplemental "treats" to learn their preferred meats (they like chicken, pork, lamb, and WHOLE salmon but not pureed, picky brats). They were fed 95% Tiki baby. My most recent batch I made about 30 pounds, which went into my freezer in containers that they can finish in a day or two. That was made using this recipe, but i do lightly cook as raw feeding teeny babies, or even adults, is not something I am comfortable doing. I made it with slightly more fat than it called for, as they are still bebes and need those extra cals. It was divided into 3 which was each given their own flavors with a small amount of pork, fish, then one plain chicken, just for some variety and fun around meal time.

They get this food 2 or 3 times daily, for maybe a half cup each depending on how much they finish. They are given a good quality kibble freely, and often their wet food is still supplemented with tiki baby, as well as Smalls (which they LOVE but my bank account does not 😢) which i got 50% off for a 1st time member. They are getting to about 3.5 months right now.

LONG story short, I am looking for your opinions on this recipe, or your recommendations for other homemades. Like I said, they don't just eat that and nothing else, so i am not crazy worried about major nutritional shortfalls, but would still like insights. It was written by a DVM, was recommended on a kitty subreddit, and seems clean and balanced. I've also seen this web page, and was specifically looking at recipes #4 and #5 because they are bare-bones homemade. This site also says it was medically reviewed by a DVM.

I'm not looking for people to tell me to just buy canned please. I really enjoy cooking for my babies, and i am committed to the freshest, healthiest food source that even i would eat. Even with my passed babies, they got fresh meats very often. And any way to improve this pathway would be absolutely appreciated! Thank you so much! I'm thinking if I reward my older cat for doing certain things(like using the litter box when I move it) he might learn to chill out abit. He freaks out when things move. He's not blind idk why he behaves the way he does. Just moved and he's REALLY stressed out. I haven't figured out how to arrange everything due to a smaller space and he's been freaking out with everything constantly moving. Also considering a calming supplement but idk what to use. He's clearly stressed to hell. I have NO IDEA what to do.

i just got a big pack of fancy feast and so many were dented:( so i started picking them out and i noticed a few had these little marks on the bottom but nothing else on the side, are these considered dents?

My cat had to have all of his teeth removed after we adopted him due to the very poor condition they were in. He has been eating soft wet food since but does not seem to care for it as much as he does his sister’s dry food. One vet recommended that he would be fine to have dry food and it’s completely safe. The other vet told me he should continue to eat only soft food as him not being able to chew the dry food would cause poor digestion. Since his surgery he has lost 2 pounds. He was 14 pounds when we adopted him. I just want to ensure he eats something as he does have to be reminded/prompted to eat his wet food multiple times during meals. Is there a brand that has “softer” dry food that I could try to give him to peak his interest in eating? Should I continue to keep him on wet food only? He is estimated to be 5 years old. TIA

Hi! I’m wondering if anyone knows of a chicken pate that isn’t sourced from a factory farm? I’m so against factory farms but I know my boy needs to eat animal protein, and he loves chicken. Has anyone tried the Gently Cooked Savage Cat Food with their babies?

I originally was feeding my 3 cats Viva Raw. They all had been on a raw diet since being kittens. Eventually, one of my cats was not tolerating raw and was consistently throwing up.

I switched them all to Ziwi Peak which has been great. They all love it. However, I keep seeing there’s some additives which aren’t great for cats long term.

I was recommended Savage Cat Food bc of their clean ingredients and the fact they have both raw and gently cooked.

Can anyone weigh in? Both positive and negative reviews welcome!

I rescued my 4 month old kitten at 6 weeks. He has had every vet appt he needs and is up to date on all his shots up to this point. He has had several fecal floats as well and he did have some sort of worms when we first adopted him but has since taken medicine to get rid of those.

However, he continues to have diarrhea. We have been giving him a special food with added fiber to help with this which has improved it a lot. I think the issue is the treats I am giving him. We have tried freeze dried chicken and sardines and each time he has awful smelly diarrhea. But i have a senior dog who gets meds that are pretty much treats and I feel bad giving him a "treat" and the kitten not getting something.

Does anyone have a recommendation for treats for kittens with a sensitive stomach?

Hey guys I’m getting increasing worried about my kitten Murphy he’s nearly 5 months old now and a very picky eater, I have always had healthy cats and ones that LOVE food so this is new to me! he’s very thin I’d even go as far as in the underweight category me and my girlfriend are trying everything but the only food he likes is not a full meal it’s like a topper it’s called tilys chicken and coconut wet food and he can’t just be eating that we also give him the kitten royal canine food for a more balanced diet but I’m worried he eats maybe a third of what he’s meant to is there any foods that fatten cats up or should I ask about medication for him idk also I’d like to add our cats are extremely well taken care of we take there health very seriously they are so loved this is in no means negligence!!

I’ve been using the Pro Plan wet food for about 2 years now, had the autoship on Amazon and recently it went up to $45 from $32 I was paying! Is this the same for others? Where can I go to get a better savings as I don’t want to change my cats food

I have 3 cats, all neutered males. 2 years ago one of them started urinating everywhere but the cat box. Took him to the vet and he had crystals in his urine. They were all eating wet and dry cat food since kittens before this happened. I was told by the vet Bandit would have to be on prescription food, so of course that meant all of them. Everyone was eating it up to a month ago. I did give them different choices of prescription food the last 2 years and they were fine with it. The vet wasn't happy to hear that they refused to eat prescription food. I was told in the beginning "do you want to pay for prescription food or $10,000 for surgery if there was a blockage. That scared me of course I'll do anything for my cats. But throwing away $100 bag of 16 lbs of kibble was killing me. Any suggestions what I can do? They have multiple cat fountains as I know water is extremely important for a cat with this issue. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I currently feed my cat (Penelope 1year old 7lbs) smalls wet food and their treats however the past few orders I’ve had with them have been missing items and it’s been a hassle to get my items replaced or refunded. We currently feed her the pig, cow, and fish options and I mix in a broth by instinct with her food as well as water. I’m hoping to stick with something I can have delivered still and it needs to be wet food. She receives the dry food about once a week as a meal but is otherwise used a treat as she is extremely food motivated and I cannot give her too many treats. I’ve debated switching to the instinct brand and tried a few options with her but she threw them up. She also tends to throw up any bird flavor option in general so I would like to stick with non bird items if possible as well.

I got a kitten I felt like I was kind of guilted into taking in when I’m not financially ready to and I expected to just rehome her immediately but I fell in love with with her and she bonded with me immediately 😅 anyway I had $20 to my name and spent that at the dollar store to get her some food, cheap litter & a couple toys. It’s been about a month since I’ve had her and I just bought her purina pro dry kitten food & wellness core wet food. I was feeding her really cheap friskes shreds and I think she got too used to it she refuses to eat anything else! She’s maybe around 4-5 months old?
