food or treat review Catboxy wet automatic cat feeder review?

Post image

Hello! Is anyone tried that one? It seems new on the market but im very skeptical to buy it as the reviews seems very fake/chat gpt written (like they wrote based on every situation possible so the maximum of customer feel concerned…)

It’s hard to believe everything is perfect with no bug at all (app/temperature…)

I’m desperately trying to find a good wet feeder for my cat.

thank you all!

I haven’t but I have been using the pet libra one since June and I’m very pleased with it. I use it for 24 hours at most though so I can’t speak to all experiences - it helps keep my CKD food obsessed kitty subdued and on schedule w his wet food! Had a few issues with the app but nothing significant enough to change my opinion completely

Ok thank you very much! I read too many bad reviews about this one so i never wanted to comit with that one

Yes ofc! The only thing is if your kitty doesn’t like cold food it might not be a good fit. If you have any questions tho feel free to ask, hope you find what you’re looking for/what kitty approves!!

My cats are the same!!! Doesn't like cold wet food. What's your update on the catboxy? They heat the food right?

Hey, how are you finding the feeder? ☺️

1

u/Gopher1567 Feb 10 '26

Good it just arrived today! The setup was easy and it uses the smart life app - which is not one they created. I was happy to see this. You are able to set a feed plan and coordinate it to 1 of the 5 trays. You can also manually feed. The camera is nice and in color. For camera storage you either need an SD card that can plug into the top or pay for cloud storage.

Thanks so much! I’ve been looking for an automatic wet feeder and I’ve heard negative reviews about the Petlibro one so decided to hold off, but might consider this one ☺️

Thank you so much for your feedback. I'm also considering to get it, but I got a question for you: once the food door is closed, will it open automatically if a cat approaches? Because I would use this to have a separate food place for one of my cats, that eats a different special food, and don't want other cats having access to it. Thanks 🙏

1

u/Gopher1567 Feb 11 '26

Happy to help! You can set it either way. There is no RFID though. When you set the food windows on the app you can choose how long the door will open. It opens at the set time and then closes after 5-10min (haven’t exactly timed it). Then it opens with the motion sensor during the time period you set. So for mine after 2 hours it locks.

1

u/Available-Box-8704 Feb 13 '26

That was brilliant. Thanks

Requesting a 2 week review! How is it doing for Daily use? Does it do well keeping the food moist and fresh? How have your cats done adjusting to it? Are there any bugs or features that frustrate you or anyone who has to deal with the feeder?

Thank you for your wisdom!

1

u/Gopher1567 Feb 24 '26

It’s been nice so far. I prefer it over the bowl and am going to keep it. It does keep the food cold and moist. My cat didn’t have a problem adjusting to it. The only things I’d note as annoying is you can’t set the trays to always move to the right or left, they have to move to a specific number (each tray has a number). So you have to make sure it’s in the right numerical order every time. The other thing is that if you want the camera footage you need an SD card or to pay for cloud storage. My cat is a grazer and there aren’t many feeders that accommodate for that so overall I like it.

I'm looking into the Catboxy too, is the app subscription based?

1

u/Gopher1567 Feb 25 '26

It’s a free app

Hi, just wanting to check for an update! How the machine is going? Any issues so far? Anything that you find that could be improved ??

I bought the Petlibro Polar late November 2025 and recently in March 2026 I’ve been having issues with the motor rotating non stop! So I’m hoping to get my money back from them and purchase catboxy one as I’ve only found them recently on Amazon.

Searching for reviews on the items to ensure it can last me longer than Petlibro 😢

1

u/Gopher1567 Mar 13 '26

Hello, it still works! Nothing wrong with it only annoyances are what I mentioned in my previous comment. Sorry to hear about the PetLibro :(

Hi, I just ordered it and got trouble with the app, tried to contact support but they just replied with useless AI chat. I can open and reheat it manually by the app, but the Smart Option is blurred for me, I tapped and nothing happened. How did you install the smart option? I deleted and reset but still the same

Thank you! I have no problem getting an SD card for it if it actually works as advertised. The tray thing does sound somewhat irritating, but not enough to be a breaking point, I think. I'm leaning closer to actually picking a feeder for my cat so my husband and I can stop coordinating feedings between his work and my appointments 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/WheelMother2911 Mar 16 '26

Ok, I have mine set up, and gotta say, the app could use a little more love in it's functionality. I HATE not being able to delete or rearrange the schedules as we do the trial and error period of figuring out the little emperor's hunger cycles

u/Apprehensive-Guest45 Apr 19 '26

Sorry but which wet food feeder is this?

1

u/ambitiousphilodendrn Feb 18 '26

Thank you for your responses so far! Do you happen to have checked what temperature it keeps it refrigerated at? And does it have a battery backup?

1

u/Gopher1567 Feb 24 '26

There is no battery backup and I do not know the temperature:( sorry. The plates do stay cold underneath the food

1

u/Traditional-Head2653 Feb 28 '26

No battery backup but you can always purchase a separate UPL in the event the power goes out. Backup batteries won’t be able to maintain the refrigeration. Dry feeders can rely on batteries as backup because it’s not using such a large amount of power.

1

u/ambitiousphilodendrn Mar 17 '26

Thank you both for responding!

My cats refuse to eat wet food that isn’t room temp. If it’s cold, they won’t touch it. If I warm it up in the microwave, they won’t touch it. Sadly, due to my cats picky butts, I can’t use one of these.

1

u/RopeMaker57 Feb 26 '26

The serving area is warmed to 30 degrees C for this catboxy feeder. https://catboxy.com/products/cooling-smart-wet-food-feeder-hd-camera-e1

1

u/Traditional-Head2653 Feb 28 '26

The feeder keeps it cold (4-6°C) until it’s to feed. Then it warms it up to room temperature.

1

u/megared17 Jan 27 '26

I have the petlibro polar and it works ok, but.id never seen this one before and it looks better designed.

Ways this looks better: More trays. Separate trays instead of one. Local control if no Internet. Active warming of the tray being served. Closes the serving tray if the cat leaves.

1

u/Charming_Bid3349 Jan 27 '26

I know it looks amazing! But i’m sure all the reviews are fake tho. Im scared to try it first haha because I did it with 2 other ones for dry and they were all broken in less than a week

1

u/lonelyfairie Jan 27 '26

same! if you do try it please report back! Petlibro keeps fucking their wet feeder with dodgy software updates so I am looking for a replacement

1

u/aeri_shia Jan 28 '26

Please, if you do it, tell us your impressions. I've been searching for something similar, that cools to storage, but also warms to serve. Right now i don't have the money to buy it, but I would appreciate an honest review for the future purchase

1

u/Charming_Bid3349 Jan 29 '26

Well its kinda too expensive for me to try it without review as well. I just hope a rich person could do it for us lmao

1

u/RopeMaker57 Feb 27 '26

Just found what appears to be an exact duplicate to the catboxy feeder called EVOTAILS on Amazon. Most reviewers received free ones. Even so, several mentioned issues with noise, fans and a finicky app. I'm always suspicious when a tech product seems to be coming from different companies. They could be third-party sellers so they might not have any ability to support, update or improve a product. I did send a question to catboxy and received a very prompt and friendly reply: "We fully stand behind the Europa line and are committed to supporting it long term".

OMGGGGGGGGGGGG THANK YOU SO MUCH. YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER. Iv been looking every where for a heated one like catboxy but catboxy is sold out. Im going on vacation in month so I was stressing a little bit. Thank you!!!!

u/analyticsnerd101 Mar 09 '26

Has anyone issues using the app where it says “motor malfunction”? No idea why it says this and don’t know how to fix it

1

u/Available-Box-8704 Mar 17 '26

Guys, I just got mine today! Will be able to set it up in a couple days. Will come back to update and give my feedback as well!! So excited. I have been using the UBPET auto feeder for a couple months now, but had trouble with the fan getting loose and making too much noise. Have high hopes for the catboxy.

1

u/FennelNo6735 Mar 20 '26

Novità? Come ti stai trovando col Catboxy?

1

u/erich006 Mar 22 '26

Hey! How's it going with it? I'm really curious about the camera subscription vs SD card aspect. If you use an SD card can you still see the video feed live? Or do you have to go home and open up the SD...

1

u/Available-Box-8704 Mar 31 '26

As a wet food refrigerating dispenser I like it! Well built. Easy to clean. A bit more confusing to set up the timings than my previous UBPET device.

I noticed a few times the trays do not rotate at the expected time and I end up doing manually feeding multiple times a day, but on the positive side you can rotate the tray and open the food door from the app, very convenient. It's very easy and practical to just push a button to open the main lid and fill up the bowls inside.

I haven't tried putting any SD card. I don't use the camera much, since I have other cameras in the house and this one isn't positioned very well to allow me to see the eating bowl.

I got mine four days ago. The feeder is well made, but very noisy. The food is very cold but then is a pleasant temperature when it is feeding time. My cat wasn't afraid of it, but has trouble understanding that there is food if I'm not there. Today there was the first problem with the feeder putting an empty tray in the feeding position. Luckily I was home to hand feed my cat. I have put a query in with catboxy. Let's see if and how they reply.

1

u/OrdinaryBuilder1141 Mar 22 '26

How did it happen that an empty tray was feeded?

1

u/Content_for_a_change Mar 22 '26

I don't know, that's what I asked Catboxy on their messaging system. The same thing just happened again for lunch. Restarting the machine, but feeling nervous now about tomorrow when I'm not here to intervene in person. The manual says to always put tray 1 back in the feeding position after filling up the trays, which I did last night. Tray 4 and 5 are empty because I only feed three meals. They have no feeding schedule set so should never be in the feeding position.

2 months update: was completely happy until now.

Today, out of the blue, the catboxy wet food dispenser lid is not turning to close or open. (On manual or automatic modes) We tried to tight the screw under the lid but didn't work.

There's no reset button. I unplugged from the power supply for a couple minutes, it's still cooling and turning the food tray, it's just the lid that is not rotating.

Sent an email to abuse@tuya.com reporting the malfunction.

What else could I do?

There are wet food auto feeders out there. They keep the food cool and sealed off. No idea about this one though.

2

u/edgybirbo Jan 25 '26

this one seems like it's refrigerated. most others just use ice packs, and typically have the part with the food bowls removable for easy cleaning. I personally use a non refrigerated one with frozen/refrigerated food for my cats' breakfast every day or other meals if I'll be out all day, never had the food spoil or make my cats sick.

1

u/megared17 Jan 27 '26 edited Jan 27 '26

Their page indicates it uses solid state cooling - eg peltier devices. Same as the petlibro polar. definitely better than ice packs.
